Crunchbits is moving services into Synteq client area

defaultdefault Veteran
edited September 22 in Providers

I received the following email message:

Synteq is moving billing and support to a new customer portal. Your servers, invoices, credits and tickets come with you.

{Move my account}

The link is personal to you and expires in 30 days. It takes about a minute. If you already have a Synteq portal account under this email, your legacy services will be added to it.

Important note: The "migration" is not quite a migration of services, just everything else but the services. Servers are not moved, instead one needs to recreate the cloud service at a different price, then move data as per their guide. That's what I understand, but I strongly hope I am wrong.

Maybe @crunchbits has more info on this.

EDIT: forgot to add a screenshot.

    but it says right in the message "your servers, invoices, .. come with you". that seems misleading. possible awesome drama ahead subscribing now.

  • Abandoned my crankbis a long time ago

  • Same here. I would love to know the details of how the pricing will work, especially for the discounted VM.

    What was their reason for not fulfilling those? Or did they just go quiet?

  • Yeah, I did the account migration thing but holding off on the server migration for now. I'm like others, wanting more details. Especially regarding the server location. Like, if I migrate this week/weekend, will it still be in PA even though it says the location is out of stock?

    Is this RIP our cheapest of cheapest amazing deals?! :<

    New panel has only 320GB max dicks options, can't really migrate my 640GB SSD.
    I will sue, thanks.

  • Does anyone even have a service with them?

    I understand the account / control panel migration, but honestly don't know, don't understood why necessary to migrate the VPS also. Why they not move them automatically to the new nodes with all data?

    They previously talked about only a control panel changes, migration, but they never mentioned the "manually VM migration". Honestly, I'm not so happy about this.

    so you didn't have to do the "one needs to recreate the cloud service at a different price, then move data" bit?

    From your screenshot, all you did was migrate/link your CB account to Synteq. Within the dashboard, on the left side, click on "legacy" and you will see what we mean (if you click into the server, you will see default's screenclip in the first post)

    Thank you but I close the tab after it.

  • Maybe server migrations are intended to be a phase 2? I see something about price matching in Default's email screenshot.

    Clearly someone not reading comprehensively. I see in November

  • I assume the migration guides to cover those buying at the standard rates off the web site, not any promotional pricing. I had one of mine get a Hypervisor update as recent as 2 weeks ago, so I’d be surprised to see anything going away relating to these any time soon. We’ll see, but confident they’ll do right there.

    Real question is, with the account migrations happening, are Easter Dedi’s next pout

    Hey guys, apologies for the late response. Things have been busy (as you can imagine) kicking this migration off.

    Understandably, questions arise with a migration as such. Going to try my best to get to the bulk of them:

    but it says right in the message "your servers, invoices, .. come with you". that seems misleading.

    @zed

    • Absolutely not our intent to cause any confusion with the messaging - our hope was to communicate that the billing and access of servers carry over into the new platform.

    New panel has only 320GB max dicks options, can't really migrate my 640GB SSD.

    @JabJab

    • Open a support ticket or PM me (as anyone unsure about a migration). We'll try our hardest to find a way to make something work.

    I did the account migration thing but holding off on the server migration for now. I'm like others, wanting more details. Especially regarding the server location.

    @PuDLeZ

    • If you open the migration flow, you'll see available locations for your new server (at this exact moment, it's only DFW). This is a large part of why we haven't sent anything out re: server migration - we didn't want to hold out on enabling the feature, but aren't actively pushing it. We're planning to share more details in the near future, but are awaiting SPO, VFO, and a new site coming in the following weeks.

    I understand the account / control panel migration, but honestly don't know, don't understood why necessary to migrate the VPS also. Why they not move them automatically to the new nodes with all data?

    @titus

    • We completely revamped our entire VM platform. Wholly different backend with high availability, stronger hardware, etc. I would've given a lot to be able to handle this on behalf of users.

    @yoursunny shoot me a message on discord (@ben.n.n.n, or ben@{our domain}) and I'll get on this.

    @oloke

    • Thank you sir.

      I would love to know the details of how the pricing will work, especially for the discounted VM.

      @TOMAS111

    • We're price matching apples to apples. Have a $10 legacy yearly we loose money on? Your new VM will be adjusted to $10 for the same specs.

    Cool. I'll be waiting until for VFO to become available and then will migate pretty quickly. Honestly, I don't really need the server migration thing y'all made a guide about, I will just want to take a fresh/last backup since it will be easy for me to set up a new server. I'll keep an eye out for news about the other locations coming online.

    me too.

    I am waiting for further information about VPS migration, if such information exists.

    And i saw this .Does the statement “Migrate now and get 10% off add‑ons and upgrades, price matched, better hardware, and auto failover” indicate that a 10% discount will be applied to the original price, or is it based on the new price?

    Is the original configuration exactly the same?

    There are many doubts;how about a Q&A.

    still waiting for my fumo too... ;)

  • after finding out the service is getting migrated without transferring data, I am just going to migrate my services to netcup and take the extra cost, while crunchbits has been super reliable and great uptime, I dont want to go through the effort of migrating again and worried about my service there, I only use it for a small website and a reddit bot, so it will be easy enough to migrate

  • I also won something from crank last year but they quietly ignored it. Seems like very traditional thing for them.

    Thanked by 1WyvernCo
  • They quietly removed the option to pay with cryptocurrencies, even though they had been promoting this payment method as part of their “privacy-friendly” image, etc. (I don’t count BitPay, which requires an account and KYC verification, as a cryptocurrency payment method.)
    Wouldn’t it at least be worth making a clear announcement or offering an alternative?
    That sucks.

  • Unlike many others, I’m not a big fan of them. A few years ago, they offered me two options: a refund for the remaining service period or an upgrade. However, they never provided the upgrade, nor did they issue a refund.

    That said, I still wish them all the best.

    Thanked by 1WyvernCo
  • I believe I would hold on from migrating until something automated is implemented, something that can read the specs and price on the old platform and recreate the exact offer on the new panel. I don't like to load the support as @benha suggested.

  • @benha please apply for proper tag (Host Rep) before replying for provider you work for. Host Rep tag were free, last time I check.
    Tagging proper admin / mod. @angstrom @DP ...

  • The magic link worked. It only took a few seconds and I could see all my details and server on the new portal.
