    I see two major factors:

    • the ai circle (financing) scheme will blow up, and even if it doesn't soon, there won't be the electrical power needed available soon in the western world.
    • the Chinese are making massive progress on all decisive fronts.

    So I expect one of two scenarios: either the Murricans do make it in time, e.g. by building plenty new nuclear power stations (which btw. takes multiple years even without lots and lots of bureaucracy which they do have), in which case the Chinese will flood tons of RAM and NVMe at (at least halfway) reasonable price into the market -or- the Chinese manage to even also win the ai race.

    Plus there are some obvious variables, like Taiwan to name just one example.
    All in all my bets are clearly on China.

    High-capacity DRAM uses a lot of power. Even a hybrid supercapacitor could not keep that powered long enough to be considered non-volatile.
