Agreed. That's what I think is sad: A lot of people can't separate the service from the service owner. While the behavior of the service owner does heavily impact the effective reliability of the service, a lot of people want to assume that good owner == good service and bad owner == bad service.

Some of the most friendly and trustworthy providers on LET barely know what they're doing, and likewise VeloxMedia could be the most premium provider in existence, but people would argue against that just because of the owner's behavior. Personally, I think the services they provide are higher-end than most, but because of their actions, I can't feel comfortable that my VPS won't be gone tomorrow, which does impact my overall assessment of the service.

There's a lot of nuance that people ignore.

Some like to attribute who-knows-what and then some to a certain person. I however prefer to enjoy my nice little VPS from @VeloxMedia which is running fine and without interruption since I rebooted it (months ago).

FWIW I do not think that dedigod is an Eric alt.

You have zero credibility. Simping for this host makes every one of your "reviews" questionable.

In fairness, there's nothing technically wrong with the services, just the owner's behavior and actions. While we may disagree with @jsg's judge of character, I see no reason whatsoever to doubt his technical reviews.

He released his benchmark app years ago. I tested it on CloudatCost and Oracle and shared results with him.

tl;dr the numbers were wildly inaccurate. Oracle had 25MB/s rate limiting in place and CaC was oversold garbage so it was easy to see retarded numbers that were nonsensical.

He threw a hissy fit and stopped releasing the benchmark app because myself and others questioned the app behaviour. So no, his technical reviews can't be trusted.

He also made up this "web ping" that he thinks is somehow useful.

My plan at veloxmedia is 15/yr and I confirmed with Lewis last year:

    Me:

I got one but I forgot to ask if it's recurring price. Is it?

    Thank you.

    Lewis:

    Hi XXXXX,

Yes, the price is recurring :)

    Thank you
    Lewis

Now they are charging me $45 for the same plan (renewal). I opened a ticket asking about the recurring price and I got this answer:

    Hi XXXXX,

Yes the price for the renewal is $45. Correct its reoccurring but the price is always subject to change at renewal. If you're not wanting to renew it'll automatically cancel.

Is this correct? Can the renewal price be changed after having been previously confirmed?

If they're waiting until the next renewal period to bump the price, I'd say you got lucky.

Actually no, the renewal is right now.

Is the renewal supposed to be now or are they making you renew it early?

Then you're still lucky. Some people were told, despite having a 3 year term, that they'd have to pay extra or their VPS would be terminated. Basically an extortion fee. Others were even less lucky and just lost their VPSes with no refund.

Generally, hosts aren't supposed to bump prices on recurring deals, but some hosts do it anyway.
