I am curious if anyone renewed.
Yes but to be fair to @host_c the price you got quoted wasn't for your current specs
I have some insane deals with Host-C
I understand that they're loss leaders, I'll take an increase on them and I'll still renew
If the increase is many hundred percent I probably won't be renewing
Looking forward to see what my new prices will be quoted
And if I won't be renewing - no hard feelings
Business is business, if someone else is willing to pay several hundred percentage more for the compute and the storage than I am willing to pay, then I can't expect them to lose money serving me (not only losing potential increase in revenue, but actually losing money as I renew)
We had a good run in that case after all, tbh
Very stable services in my experience
@emgh
Please continue. Surely you're not going to stop now?

didn't get my host-c price increase notifications yet, have to save up until then
Service cancellations like these makes massive damage (often unrepairable) to reputation of provider. But who cares…
At the new prices I don't think that matters too much, I don't think the point is to keep the cheap LET clientele
It is often a huge mistake to ignore roots where all started. When you disrespect the niche - you receive backfire, often leading to bankruptcy in the long run. B2B segment is entirely different thing and most low end suppliers is just not fit to handle that.
Well, another one bites the dust.
Just got the discontinuation email for my last two standing VPS.
I'm officially down to zero with Host-C now lol
Looks like I'll be waiting for this BF to restock some new idlers
I think it is quite the opposite @Levi
Are you still aiming to have lots LET users as clients or do you think you're about to price them out in large (obviously with exceptions)?
And if your aim is to replace with more sustainable clients, do you have demand from higher paying clients that'll swallow all of the cancelations and even make it possible for you to expand or do you think that you'll have to sell some hardware and get leaner (while hopefully getting more profitable)?
than they should not allowed those kind of providers to sell here
B2B is much easier to manage. The rules are clear, the prices paid are substantially higher, and when it comes to abuse, B2B is a walk in the park compared with what cheap promotional offers can attract from certain forums.
I want to underline “certain forums,” because not every forum user is problematic, and LET or OGF users are not inherently “bad.” Plenty of them are perfectly good fellas, some I consider friends and some fellas are really cool!!!
We did sell the E5-v4 hardware after that platform was decommissioned. However, regarding the Scale Gen 2 platform, we have actually continued investing over the past few months, including purchasing additional servers, drives, RAM, and NVMe storage. We are not preparing to abandon the platform or liquidate everything, fuq, If we would really sell out, now it might be the time, but I have other plans, and sell out is not among them.
That said, I think almost anyone in my position would prefer 20 B2B customers using 80 TB of storage legitimately over 200 scalpers occupying the same space.
Beyond the extraordinary hardware prices in 2026, which have made operations increasingly difficult, we have another ongoing problem, one created partly by my own infinite wisdom in entering the market with extremely cheap services. Those offers attracted a disproportionate number of scalpers, account resellers, and abusers. Frankly, we have had enough. This cannot continue.
I have absolutely nothing against idlers or ordinary users who use a service as it was designed to be used, com on, that is why we sell it.
I do, however, have a serious problem with account sellers, repeated abuse, prohibited pornography, child sexual abuse material, you have no idea how much worse then that we have encountered; and all the other activities that were explicitly forbidden from day one in 2023, even before our Terms of Service grew to more than 30 pages.
Just look at our billing panel. We literally had to add a mandatory checkbox stating:
“SMTP Policy Acknowledgement: I understand that outbound SMTP ports 25, 465, and 587 are permanently blocked on this service and cannot be enabled.”
Do you think we added that for fun? I find it ridiculous that such a warning is necessary, but it did reduce, to some extent, the number of tickets and chargeback requests from people claiming they did not know.
Are we still interested in LET users? Yes
LET and OGF users who understand what they are purchasing, how the service may be used, and that the applicable rules actually apply to them.
We are not interested in targeting communities such as NodeSeek or other forums where the prevailing expectations regarding acceptable use, customer identity, account resale, and enforcement are fundamentally incompatible with ours. There is a reason we deliberately chose not to enter those markets.
Many of the people who will “cry a river” here are not really part of the traditional LET community. They arrived from places with a very different mindset and different expectations.
With all due respect to the memes and jokes, this is not basement hosting. I personally know Călin, but anyone who associated HOST-C with some disposable Romanian ultra-budget operation that ignores not laws, but common sense, made a very poor assumption.
We cannot grow sustainably under the current model, so we had to act.
I believe I have been transparent and blunt about our operation from day one.
But the current situation ends now, and a change was necessary.
Hell yeah @host_c

There was a time when I considered HOST-C one of the best providers. Not anymore, not after this. Even if HOST-C comes with great deals in future, I won't order. I would dare to assume that such company actually wants to exit the hosting market and simply wants to get rid of cheap consumers, since SEO was achieved — but I could be wrong, I don't know.
@default
Please do read what I wrote above.
@host_c You want to dive another rabbit hole?

“We are not targeting communities or customer segments primarily driven by account trading, resource arbitrage, promotional exploitation, or expectations that conflict with our Acceptable Use Policy.”
THX, but we are not interested.

Do you have enterprise clients ready to take on all of the free space that this may contribute to?
I cannot disclose info such as that, for obvious reasons.
But I said it before, we come from B2B, we always had B2B customers.
Who do you think kept the lights running on your 7 USD / Year service?

Santa? honk honk
Hello I am enterprise client
There you go, I fixed it for you.

Nice, good to know, I will write Santa to send me a few 300 TB storage nodes, I will take them even if they are LGA771
