Same. I guess I'll have to move to the closest alternative—SolidVPS with a similar plan (6C6G66G $12y).

Well, yet another reminder that good things don't last. 😅

So after the price increase in january https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4719347#Comment_4719347

we continue with the next round only 6 month after?

also 2/5 of my services just get canceled?
(including the JabJab Special that was sold December of last year lol)

I am very much over this provider at this point, its just not worth the hassle to keep up with the non stop changes of lineups, EOL, price increases, CPU changes and so on. Pretty sure i have more mails from host-c alone than from all my other idlers combined.

What i will never understand is how this provider is getting so much hype around here, but I might just have missed the golden days ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also only listing the Current list price for the service in the email and not what the actual deal was (what is actually being paid) is dishonest af

and don't even get me started on the whole "recurring" debate

Naturally, I would have liked to see more satisfied customers sharing their experiences on Trustpilot and other review platforms. The services were often provided at barely more than zero cost while maintaining good performance and service quality. If you search this forum or OGF, you will find very few complaints about CPU steal, poor performance or the other compromises commonly associated with extremely cheap VPS products, even regarding the $1-per-year promotions, which will reach the end of their lifecycle this year.

I see a lot of folks here getting a lot of awesome deals. Yet, when I look at review sites, I rarely see a good word about those providers, especially the newer ones.

Maybe LET should introduce some kind of "trust pilot" rating to balance with LET threads?

With no hate to host-c, that how things will go when provider has most clients on bullshit cheap plans (especially with how good of service he provides). At some point they must see a profit and I don't blame them.

For example, in my case amount of "deals" is so marginal compared to all sales, that I would probably loose more money on trying raising it's price than just letting people renew them.

Thumbs up for letting people use their services until they are paid, some providers cancel with one day notice and either you pay more or fuck you.

I wish you all the best host-c moving forward.

I haven't been following this thread or receiving notification emails, but, lol, I just saw this:

    First Payment Amount
    $14.00 USD

    Recurring Amount
    $123.20 USD

    Billing Cycle
    Annually

Now that's a way to say, "GTFO, we don't want you here" to a customer :D

Appreciate you acknowledging that, and of course it's your choice to set the company's direction.

However, I think it came as a surprise to lot of us. I assumed "price adjustment" would mean that you're keeping up with increased operating and hardware costs. But this is something else entirely.

I beg to differ. Providers here tend to receive the same reaction whenever prices are increased, regardless of whether the adjustment is $1 or $50.

These are not ordinary list-priced services receiving an arbitrary increase. They are heavily discounted promotional products that are no longer sustainable under their original conditions. Where possible, customers are being offered migration to an equivalent product from our current portfolio, together with a 20% discount on its list price.

    Each individual notice clearly states:

    • The customer’s current service
    • The product offered as its replacement
    • The regular list price
    • The discounted monthly, quarterly, and annual renewal prices
    • The option to cancel at the end of the current prepaid term

Customers who accept the migration do not need to take any action. Customers who do not accept it can cancel from the billing panel, and their existing prepaid period will not be shortened.

The replacement products and their specifications are also publicly listed on our website. Unfortunately, this situation has reinforced something we already suspected: for a significant part of the promotional customer base, the exceptionally low price was the primary consideration, while the provider, product structure, and long-term sustainability were secondary.

@brauni, if you flagged us as an “IDLE seller,” I am sorry to hear that. However, please post the complete content of the notices you received so everyone can evaluate exactly what was communicated. I find it unlikely that the messages contained no details about the services offered as replacements.

If all your services belong to the non-renewal category, then the notices should instead clearly state that those services will continue operating until the end of their current prepaid billing periods but will not be available for renewal. Those contracts are being honoured in full; we are simply declining to enter into another term under the same promotional conditions.

    or let me:

    Dear Customer,

We are writing to inform you that your Promo Kepler-70 – NVME VPS – JabJab Edition service will be discontinued.

Due to current market conditions and increased operating costs, we can no longer maintain this promotional service. It will therefore be terminated at the end of its current prepaid billing period and will not be available for renewal.

    SERVICE NON-RENEWAL DETAILS

Service: Promo Kepler-70 – NVME VPS – JabJab Edition

Final service date: CURRENT BILLING END DATE

Renewal status: Renewal will not be available

Your service will continue operating normally until the billing end date shown above. Your current prepaid period will remain fully available and will not be shortened.

Please migrate any applications or services and download all data you wish to retain before the final service date. Once the service has been terminated, access to the VPS and its stored data will no longer be available.

No cancellation request is required, as the service will be scheduled automatically for termination at the end of its current billing period. No renewal invoice will be issued.

We understand that this decision may cause inconvenience, and we regret that we cannot offer a renewal or replacement for this particular promotional service. This change is necessary for us to continue providing reliable and sustainable services under current market conditions.

Thank you for your understanding and for having been a HOST-C customer.

    Kind regards,

    HOST-C NETWORK
    Customer Service Team

    and for an upgradable service:

    Dear Customer,

We are writing to inform you about an upcoming change to your Little Dragon – 50 GB NVME VPS service.

Due to current market conditions and increased operating costs, we can no longer maintain this promotional service under its existing pricing and conditions. At the end of your current prepaid billing period, the service will be migrated to the corresponding product from our current portfolio.

Your current service will continue operating without changes until its next renewal date.

    SERVICE MIGRATION ON RENEWAL

Current service: Little Dragon – 50 GB NVME VPS

New service: White Neptune – NVME VPS – G2

    Current list price: $8.00/month

Your renewal price, including the 20% existing-customer discount:

        Monthly billing: $6.40/month

        Quarterly billing: $19.20/quarter

        Annual billing: $70.40/year

The price applied to your account will correspond to the billing cycle currently selected for your service.

No action is required if you wish to continue. Your service will be migrated automatically, and the new price will apply from its next renewal.

If you do not wish to continue with the new service and pricing, please log in to the HOST-C customer panel, select Little Dragon – 50 GB NVME VPS, and submit a cancellation request effective at the end of the current billing period. Please do this before the service’s next renewal date to prevent it from renewing under the new product and price.

Your current prepaid service period will remain fully available and will not be shortened.

We understand that this may not be a welcome change, and we regret any inconvenience it may cause. This adjustment is necessary for us to continue providing reliable and sustainable services under current market conditions.

Thank you for your understanding and for being a HOST-C customer.

If you are unfamiliar with products such as White Neptune – NVME VPS – G2 or Event Horizon NX-01 – Storage 1 TB – G2.1, their specifications can be found on our websites:

The proposed replacement is not the only possible option. If another product from our portfolio would better suit your requirements, please open a support ticket, and we will review the available migration options with you.

I understand the frustration caused by these changes. However, this discussion has also demonstrated how little some promotional customers know about HOST-C as their service provider, the products we operate, or the options already available to them.

In that sense, thank you for illustrating precisely the point I was making: for many customers, the promotional price was the only meaningful factor, while the provider and the service behind that price received very little attention.

Anyone surprised by that cant be serious.

Nobody gives a shit who offers what. Nobody ever has given a shit. For anything apart if the product works and the price is right. That was never different. Especially for something this trivial. What value would there be in being attached to your company? If you would deliver physical goods of a certain quality, you might actually be able to generate some value with your company name but even that is only worth a fraction of the product itself.

    Edit:

Point in case: Divorce, lmfao. Good luck becoming even as relevant to anyone

    Feel free to quote me

My complain is perfectly visible in your second mail.
The price shown there for the old / existing service is the list price, even though many of us here are paying promotional prices, which are much lower.

If that is a mistake or on purpose to make the price increases seem more reasonable I don't know.

Maybe so. For me, there's a big difference between a 20-50% increase and a 200% increase. If it were the former, I never would have commented in this topic at all. I would have paid it and stayed quiet.

They are heavily discounted promotional products that are no longer sustainable under their original conditions.

I appreciate that, and I'm glad for the time I was able to use your services as archival storage. Unfortunately the new prices are not competitive for my needs, even with the 20% discount. At least that's the case for now -- maybe it will change in the future.
