    What exactly "light KYC" means?

We believe that our KYC process is faster and easier than those of our competitors.

Well, i have some bad news: KYC is either intrusive and annoying or pointless. These are all the available options.

I totally understand, but it's a requirement to be licensed gateway.

How about https://anuscan.com/? That's at least better than holding your ID into a webcam and shit like that.

    Also, can you take XMR?

@PawPayments said: I totally understand, but it's a requirement to be licensed gateway.

That'll still result in quite a lot of lost opportunities. Many hosts here, if not most, won't want to go with a provider that does mandatory KYC because their customers don't want that. KYC for funds that are flagged as dirty? Sure, but KYC for everyone is invasive.

We accept XMR, but for payouts, we only do BTC, USDT on the Tron network, and USDC on the Ethereum network. KYC/KYB is only mandatory for merchants (and, of course, in the event of dirty funds being sent), but we never request it from your customers.

This will require a corresponding scanner from you. Do you have one?
We have already approved some LE merchants who we believe are not doing anything wrong without them showing their documents on camera. That's why we call our KYC process 'light'.

Yes, i do. It's used by a bunch of banks around here and it's very, very popular. People just don't like dealing with complicated apps, cameras, documents and all that. I mean, it's your system but i can pretty much guarantee that you'll lose a sizeable chunk of potential clients unless you at least support it as an alternative.

That makes more sense! I was concerned that customers would be affected as well. Vendors are less likely to care because they're already non-anonymous. It'll be good to have another XMR-supporting payment gateway competitor to Cryptomus/Heleket! You might want to be more explicit that customers (as opposed to vendors) do not have to undergo KYC.

A quick update from PawPayments: We processed 100,000 transactions in our first year. Our launch promotion offering 0.5% per transaction is still available to anyone adding crypto to their billing with code LETPAW05.

  • How much commission if customer has to buy crypto with their credit card? what if they try to do chargeback? what about high risk businesses?

How many of these transactions are in PSH?

    Can customers pay with PSH?

Sure and we'd auto-convert it to USDT on arrival, which is probably the safest anyone's ever held PSH 😄

FIrst, card payments are currently unavailable. Since 1 August our on-ramp partner has paused card processing while it completes its MiCA authorisation, and there's no ETA yet.

    https://status.pawpayments.io/status-page/2e12ed30-6d68-4e58-8007-f565a1cdcf9d/incidents/edf6e730-075d-4963-9ece-d95cc12a11df

Fees: they vary. We tried to get them through API but it is unavailable as well.

Chargebacks: the card payment is between the customer and our on-ramp partner, so any dispute is handled by the partner and the customer's bank.

High-risk: illegal activity and sanctioned countries are prohibited. Other high-risk categories are reviewed case by case.

We are looking for a more stable partner now.

    1. Why is this on LowEndTalk
    2. Why use this over say NowPayments or something I can selfhost? NowPayments requires no KYC and works perfectly fine for me... what is the benefit here?

    1. LET isn't just for hosting providers. Plenty of hosting-adjacent services get posted here too. And hosting providers are exactly who we're looking for as merchants.
    2. If you're happy with NowPayments, there's no reason to switch. A few things worth knowing though:
    • NowPayments isn't actually no-KYC. According to their help center, once their AML system flags a payment, it's put on hold until you, the merchant, provide ID, proof of funds and a selfie (source). We verify merchants at onboarding instead, so there are no surprise holds later. Depending on your volume, it can be just a short form with no documents.
    • NowPayments lists the US as a restricted jurisdiction in its terms of service. We work with US businesses.
    • BTCPay and similar are great if you're comfortable running and updating nodes yourself. We run the nodes for BTC, ETH, Tron, Solana, TON, BSC, Base, Monero and more. You just install the plugin.

    1. I might be mistaken but my impression was that NowPayments didn't hold custody of your funds unlessy ou enable the custody feature...?
    2. NowPayments doesn't geoblock US businesses and I know plenty of folks in the states that use NowPayments
    3. Pretty painless to selfhost
  • SHkeeper is one option for accepting crypto without KYC; crypto does not automatically imply dirty money, just as fiat cash can carry the same risk.

Open source is great. In fact, we don't even require paper documentation. Each PawPayments transaction is scanned for risk level by an AML provider, and you receive clean funds. With a self-hosted solution, someone could send you dirty money, which would cause issues when you try to send these funds to an exchange.

I don't see any issues here, except with IPv6. Aurologic and Ghostnet are our network vendors, they provide a good service.

    1. Yes. However, if your merchant account is put on hold, you won't be able to accept funds, regardless of whether you have custody enabled or not.
    2. Again, this works until the merchant is blocked. According to their ToS, this can happen at any time.
    3. If this is BTC or XMR, then yes. Other blockchains, such as TON/SOL, require terabytes of storage.
  • Looks decent but what's this name and branding? Who decided on that? Might suggesting changing that cause I don't think its suitable for a crypto gateway doesn't exactly induce trust on me

SHkeeper and crypto payments share this trait: no chargebacks ensure clean transactions without extra fees or payment gateway providers harvesting data.

The OP merely claims his operation is KYC-free and therefore demands nothing, a pattern observed in earlier crypto gateways.
