I only tried to get the attack sale shutdown. Reminder: I had the opportunity to get his whole paypal pulled and I didn't.
We would've also not been here if jar wasn't so hot headed and could've just stayed silent or not written that one sentence.
I would be pretty pissed too if someone called me a psycho and had a whole deal about it, its somewhat of an libel especially using it in the context to drive business.
I still find it a bit fascinating as to how jar has still doubled tripled, at this quintupled down on all of this. Sunk-cost fallacy?
The same could be said about jar's attack sale, which started it all. It was in bad taste, and just because I found it funny doesn't mean everyone else who was a target should have to.
Unless there is evidence that WyvernCo's goal was anything more than to get the attack sale removed, the argument that jar was somehow allowed to dox/attempt to dox in retaliation falls flat.
So has wyvern
You two following Jar from thread to thread preceded the sale.
I followed no one, but I reply if pinged and joined in an argument in one other thread long after it had already started.
I guess but one has an email business reputation attached to them and the other is anonymous person for the most part.
You might dislike or like wyvern, but the fact still remains that Jar has become extremely untrustworthy especially for something as sensitive as Email after this.
By his own admission, he contacted PayPal, and he admitted today that he plans to go even further.
To any sane person, none of this would matter anyway, as most people would just laugh off a situation like that tasteless sale thread instead of escalating into a personal vendetta... "like a psycho".
I disagree. Most people here are hobbyists chasing the cheapest buck and live off drama. Jar has a pretty darn respectable reputation on getting your email where it needs to go and won't disappear overnight because they're run by a 16 year old in their bedroom. Just don't play stupid games to win stupid prizes. Jar doesn't hide who he is, and that transparency will attract the right audience. You already know who you're dealing with.
As if posting criticism on a forum justified an attack sale or a firing attempt.
I laughed off the situation, but I can completely understand that others wouldn't. At the end of the day, someone in a far more privileged situation used their high visibility to attack another person, and all that person tried to do was shut down that attack. The first person then tried to dox them and ended up trying to get the wrong person fired.
I can't say whether or not WyvernCo overreacted because I don't know exactly how he felt, but let's remind ourselves that one person is a random on the internet who was attacked and the other is a medium-sized provider.
Were both in the wrong? Maybe. But I consider an attack ad to be more serious than reporting said attack ad.
it takes two to tango let's not pretend like anyone is 100% at fault in every single way
Yeah, I was pretty upset about his attack sale.
Many young dealers sell drugs to feed their families, should I feel bad trying to shut their businesses?
I understand your opinion and respect it as-is but I also respectfully disagree, my friend.
One simply cannot fundamentally separate jar and his service because of how intertwined they are and how fragile trust is. Maybe I consider E-mail to be even more secure but I genuinely don't wish for my mail to be run in such fashion in the sense by someone who may have sadly tried to dox/fire someone else because of internet and all the drama that preceeded. I wish for my E-mail provider to be a bit more cool-headed.
MXRoute used to be awesome but the trustpilot review still impacts MXRoute. I had made a meme sometime ago let me reference it again. I am sad that a previously good service has been thrown sadly because of the way jar handled things.
I agree, but I feel that some actions are more deserving of criticism than others.
Sure, this could have been handled better on all sides, but Jar overreacted to criticism by using his position as a provider to amplify an attack and, when WyvernCo tried to get the attack taken down, Jar ended up trying to dox him and didn't even get the right guy. "But WyvernCo overreacted", even if true, does not excuse Jar's behavior.
There are a lot of chill guy providers in my books. Too many to list.
Nah drugs are bad man
this isn't confirmed to be fair
List first three.
I don't think it matters whether or not he succeeded. He still tried. But true.
He's a really chill guy.
You can look at my top 3 in the provider poll https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4757564/#Comment_4757564
I find jar's "shoot first ask questions later" stance a bit mildly troubling, just a bit.
What a great day for the unemployed
A lot of people seem to have similar stories when interacting with him. It sucks because I've heard his service is well-run and stable. Interestingly, this kind of behavior is very common in the information security industry. Often the smartest people are the hardest to work with.
Feeling happy huh? No wonder another gooning day, you make so many people jealous.
How long will it last?
There are no direct alternatives (same type of service) to MXRoute matching both the quality and price point. None.
I use autistici.org for non-business activities, but, like Riseup, you have to agree with their political stance and not use their service for commercial activities. But they're solid and have been around for something like 15+ years.
