My 30gb server (a triple ram deal) does not mention LET in the name, and I haven't gotten any shutdown notices.

However, Velox suddenly blocked port 25 and broke my addy.io email forwarding service I had set up for myself. It took me a while to figure out why my email aliases weren't being forwarded to my email anymore until I tested port 25 specifically and found I couldn't connect to any mail servers from my velox server.

I opened a ticket, and the response was that port 25 is now restricted for most plans, and you have to pay $10/month to be able to use that.

Just another anecdotal piece of evidence from an unhappy not-sure-if-I-qualify-as-a customer.

For what duration have you already paid for? 1 year?

No, 3 years in advance. I'll plan to do a chargeback at this point, though I was assuming I'd need to some point soon anyway due to this entire discussion.

Velox asked me for an id + selfie in order to process my SAR request :D

Legal shat themselves basically... Anyway... Once they stopped laughing they promised they'd draw up something for me.

PayPal dispute submitted. And someone is working today, since my server got deactivated within an hour or two of me disputing the transaction.

I don't know why I was surprised that they blocked the smtp port and then said it would be $10/month to have it unblocked. I thought they weren't interested in the nickel and dime customers, since they have millions in capital and more high end customers to bother dealing with the low end boxes they're so graciously continuing to host. 😂

@schrauger That's because it need income urgently to cover the cost every month. It can not find new customers so have to exploit existed users who haven't paid them. One day it will come to everyone.

This happens soon and still in the dispute period. Lucky for you.

this should be titled as: VeloxMedia SCAM PRO.
We can expect more from this worst provider.

    • want to ask a question on Discord, pay $10/question extra
    • want to login to vps control panel, pay $5/login extra
    • want to logout of vps control panel, hey.. its again $5 extra.

Probably why I get sent duplicate invoices every week for a service that was already cancelled.

It's understandable if it's post-service survey, but invoice for something that already got deleted? That's no better than junk mail

Absolutely. There is no "Data Protection Authority (DPA)" in the Netherlands. It's Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), which is the dutch data protection authority, but those English terms aren't their name.

Even if he decide to dump all the customer after one month, it's better than the current state.

I'm fairly sure he made that change a while ago. At least to my plan.

Gotta admit... Kinda tricked him there ;)

Had some back and forths with 'compliance', now they want me to submit the request through ICO.

It it wasn't this bad it would be fun.
