What seems shady?? I haven't asked for a single penny and haven't done a single thing other than pay for hosting and provide support for those who need it. I've provided information as I received it and assisted when I could.
Just to be very clear. I have never been a customer of veloxmedia at this point of time . Therefore, I don't have any reason to hate you over the prospect of losing time/money/contract. Others may resent you
Lewisdidn't even bother to pay the billsLewishas disclosed it to you. But, the way you're surprised with the cost,Lewisprobably has withhold crucial information underfraudulent pretenses. You may thoughtI don't sign up for this. I have said at the earliest time toannulled the transfer.it might collapsebefore it reached that point.Sunk costis very powerful. It depletes yourwealthponzi scheme + triangle scamNow who are you and what are your plans and are you shutting down the ability to order until you get your house in order yes or no?
We keep avoiding these questions. No wonder this thread's intensity continues to rise and people (such as my self) tell you exactly what it looks like to them.
I just don't understand the negativity pointed at me during all this. I don't even understand how I can be the bad guy in any of this. Worst case I'm the guy giving everyone some time. best case I help build a better VPS platform that lasts
It is a chain reaction. You took money or not that is irrelevant. But you come in the possession of a company which now has shady history and according to your own words, the previous owner ran away with money.
You didn't make a clean transfer. You are using the same brand/company which shows that only owner is changed but rest of the liability remains the same.
It is NOT as straight forward way to shed away the liability as you are thinking.
Still figuring out all the plans here, its a lot to go through and a lot of costs here. I'm not sure if it makes sense to shut down ordering, if I can get some normal priced sales through it'll help sustain the business and keep things going. It helps. I'm also not wanting to make any changes to the products into WHMCS until I had time to dig through all the products and get an idea of what everything was being billed and how it was. I want and idea of what he was selling right now to compare to past and my numbers so i can calculate profits.
I am however taking down the main webpage with the ordering so its at least hidden.
You're asking a lot of questions.... its been 3 days and almost xmas. I've spent 50+ hours just resetting logins and moving systems to make sure we have access to email and communication. Like give me a few days to get through some stuff... geez
Will they later steal credit card information like some merchants did before?
Anyways I'm going to focus on being more active on the Discord and not so much on here as its very hard to keep track. So reach me on there if any questions.
Also pop a ticket for support if any issues and I'll handle
Because:
For your best interest, get a pro bono or at least someone else to look at situation.
Afterall, I might be a dog or LLM AI.
WHMCS only stores last4 and card type, nothing else. They can't be stolen so you're good. You can double check their support to be sure. I checked the sql table. I still need to figure out how to delete everyones as they don't work anyways
Things seem a bit unsettled. I need to ensure my business can operate normally. If I decide to migrate away, can I request a refund?
There was almost no notice for customers to find out the business had switched hands.
Doesn't seem like it's my problem... or your customers problem. That's your problem. This is what happens when a business goes under a transfer of ownership in this way. It is messy, it is dirty, you're going to keep finding surprises and replying with vague answers, dodging the questions and what people actually want to know. Keeping the lights on isn't good enough.
Now again, who are you? What is your experience? What are your plans beyond the next 12 months (you're a business, you need to think 12 months)? Do you have any other staff? Are you getting any extra help?
I'm being brutally hard on you however I am being extremely fair and giving you constructive feedback as I happen to give a shit as maybe one day, I could be a customer... or more. World is infinite possibilities 😉.
But right now everything is a mess and you're not doing yourself any favours currently.
I can't refund anything purchased before the past couple days. I don't have access to any of the old payment accounts or anything. Only new items can be refunded.
I'm not sure what the terms were with your agreement when you purchased but this is outside of my control.
🤦♀️
alter table YOURTABLEHEREdrop row(or column) thethingyouaretryingtodelete;I do not have any faith. You seem really inexperienced and you aren't asking for helping hands.
Someone tell me that black friday after party is just started?
Was this the party you were expecting?
I migrated the site because I tookover and needed to make sure it wasn't lost. that would suck if WHMCS was gone and all the data, then I'd have to shut down because I couldn't see any dates.
If I were Lewis then what's the issue? Everything's all online so nothing would have changed.... it doesn't make any sense.
If someone bought 16vCPU 30GB ram/ 300GB NVMe for 10 years for $5 it doesn't seem very fair for me to keep them running, does it?
I think there needs to be some common sense here. I'm open to suggestions and trying here...
😱
If you were Lewis, that would be like
pig butchering scam. Done under pretense ofnew management. That's why it's an uphill battle.Nope, that's unprecedented
Get sleep. Drop by a lawyer office for pro bono or at least reasonable rate, before going to whatever Christmas plan you have prior to this.
Thats my thought but checked with google and saw a post about someone doing this and having an issue with it showing blank which makes sense as now there's likely a symbolic link with missing data.

I know plenty about databases to know not to just start deleting tables from live systems, especially ones I just gained access to 3 days ago and haven't fully build a dev environment or even fully tested backups. Plus I just pulled from a previous server this morning so don't even have a backup yet for today.
I think Lewis used the money to treat himself to a nice vacation in the Maldives (see screenshot).

You really have accepted to take over a mess haven't you? You had no idea going in... You should have not accepted this deal at all... However you can't change the past. You need to live with that.
I gave you suggestions here that were very common sense. Not anyone problem you're ignoring them. If you need a quick reminder.
What you should have not done.
1. Migrated anything. You should have taken inventory of everything. Figured out what you had and not touched a single thing.
2. Not conducted yourself with such a defensive tone. As I said, you're not doing yourself any favours.
3. Document everything.
4. Build environments you can break/fix without breaking prod. I'm glad we aren't going to be working in prod, I will give you that.
Maldives is not my jam... I think standing in Chris' LOST bar with a glass of Like A Magic Mule is my jam.
Well, it's all about you isn't it?
No you're not the only one losing. You have customers (although you think you haven't) that are worried and are threatened to have their VPSes shut down. As a group, I bet those customers have put more money into it as you did. At "best" all that money went into a pyramid scheme called "Veloxmedia", at worst Lewii is laughing his socks off sipping on a pint.
It seems more and more you've stepped into something without realising the consequences, without properly looking at things before "buying" (even when there was no money involved, it still is a transaction). If it's such a mess as you describe you should have either taken a better look before the agreement, should have been prepared for a potential mess or you should have walked away. This is real life, not a game.
I think the majority aren't against you at all for stepping in. The majority are against your outings and lack of clear and proper communication.
Kind people are all trying to help him, it seems he does not understand the actual situation, which reminds me of @Calin.
Yeah, I get that a deal like that isn’t really fair to you, but it’s also something that came with taking over.
I think after the holidays, or around New Year’s, it’d really help if you were upfront about at least your current idea of a plan.
This is the first time I’ve seen you actually mention a plan. I’d be worried if that’s actually one of the plans Lewis had, but ideally it’d be even better if you could share which plans have caught your attention so far. That way, people can better understand what you mean by “unsustainable” and get a heads up on what to expect.
But the thing is, if someone’s on a plan you don’t want to continue, it basically leaves them with a few options: either they lose the money they already paid if you cancel it, you take the loss yourself, or they try to charge it back against Lewis.
I don't think Lewis wants anything (nor will he care) judging by his time in the Maldives.
Why quit accepting orders? I'm not really understanding this one. If I can make sure to accept only profitable orders and the infrastructure is already in place then why not? I have the systems and would have the money from them and would never risk losing them.
The others wasn't an option. I had to migrate things and take over or else everything would be shut off. Bills need paid and the systems need to be running. If it didn't migrate WHMCS then it would have been lost.
Everything is documented. But documented isn't the same as live. And everyone's pressuring for answers and I need the information live to get those answers.
Extra hands?? Its Christmas Eve. I'm not making people work xmas eve.
I have environments and everything but it all takes time and I'm still putting out fires and learning about new fires. I've finally got a grasp on all the fires. Finally have everything under control and able to dig into the business side of things.
If you play it reversed
How to succeed in Web Hosting (The "Exit Scam" Lite Edition):
Step 1: Lease hardware monthly. Never commit long-term. Step 2: Pretend to be a serious host on LET for exactly 6 months. Step 3: Black Friday. Sell annual plans at unsustainable prices. Collect $30k+ in user funds instantly. Step 4: Find a sucker. Transfer the "business" to them for free. Step 5: You keep the cash; they get the monthly invoices and the angry support tickets.
