And just a page back you are saying you are not taking people's money... yes, you are when you consider the offers that they are applying to are potentially profitable. But at the same time, those people sign up to a host (i.e. Veloxmedia), spending money, for a service that may just go down in a couple of days, weeks, months - whenever you can't afford to keep the infra going or you're just bored by it and leave. You are taking a legal responsibility, but even with new customers under your mangement aren't realising that you do...
Also:
Well, this is really a main part of the issue here... you don't understand some basic principle of trading/customer relations/trust.
Nobody blames you for stepping in when someone else (at least I'm still hoping you're not Lewis) makes a mess of things. Many people can have their doubts about the chances of succes or having questions about how it went, but in basis you've started at "0" when you took over. Everything from there is measured. There are some plusses for you keeping the service alive - but there are also quite a few minusses upto now. From your outings you already seem to be in some kind of panic mode - even after a few days... wow...
There's a good 500 packages and a lot of them don't make much sense. There's a lot of TRIPLE ram type things which I have zero clue what TRIPLE means and other things like that so its very complicated.
Its just a lot of data that needs to manually be connected from WHMCS to the VPS and pieced together what the package is and the specs and the pricing. For all 500+ items then compared to the costs and the other packages.
Then I need to figure out what about the weird free ones and other oddballs.
Then I need to figure out what to do with all this info and how to best move forward.
You should be stopping all orders because you still have products that being processed that are unsustainable. Having to cancel those is time wasted away from you getting your house in order. Doesn't matter if it's one or a hundred, it's wasting your time.
That one doesn't make any sense to me or to anyone. Why would have it been lost? That really needs a proper explainer.
So it's not documented! Right!
Then why are you working on this? Why was this deal not delayed until the new year?
I don't think you do...
WTF?
Where are you based? "It's christmas eve" "I have zero clue what TRIPLE means"...
It's christmas eve in the eastern part of the world now, but you (upto now) seem to have stated you're from the US - where it isn't even christmas eve... and you don't know what triple means? Even in the simplest dictionary it's explained, it's a normal english word, and even Google can give you the answer quickly...
But hey, we're on LET, we like to help people. Let me help you out: it's "three times". So if I have one egg in my basket, and my wife asks me to triple it, I should have three eggs in my basket....
Just out of curiosity , are Lewis and @itsTomHarper the same person now that we've pretty much confirmed that Eric is only dealing with Lewis?
Man... this thread exploded! I need a TL;DR of the last... 11 pages. Are the unsustainable deals I bought unsustainable??
Anyone that orders now (and is accepted) I 100% guarantee will be online and operational the entire agreement term. I'm not pushing sales or advertising or anything just stating this. I'm not guaranteeing this for anyone who purchased from Lewis right now as I'm still digging into everything.
The thought is if I can get a bit of sales it'll help keep the existing servers online and will make everything easier. Also if I can get sales organically then it shows there's a potential for profit down the road so makes me want to invest into the brand and keep the reputation alive.
Whos @itsTomHarper ?
I'm still not understanding.... what does Triple ram mean?
For instance one is named... Intel Gold 6248 - Triple RAM, Triple Disk
Obviously I know triple means 3x but 3x what? 3GB ram maybe but 3GB disk doesn't make sense, 30GB but then thats confusing too. I looked it up and its 10GB ram and 30GB disk....
It's been Christmas Eve for the last 20 hours in New Zealand...
Can say this is a suboptimal time to be dealing with a messy transaction such as this.
Just taking a quick look at the VeloxMedia account here, it’s obvious Lewis did a lot of “Triple" shenanigans.
For context, I have a
Black Friday 2025 - BF2025 - London - 32GB RAM, 120GB NVMe, 8vCPU plan, and I honestly can’t wrap my head around why anyone would need 32GB of RAM and 8 CPU cores for only 120GB of storage. Compared to some of my other servers, that’s an extremely low amount of space. The only thing that came to mind was overprovisioning ram and cpu, and from what we have seen Lewis mentioned, a lot of the resources were just idle and not being used anyway? The specs just feel really unbalanced. The only practical use I can think of is Minecraft, but even then, the weird AUP banning Minecraft servers without permission makes it even stranger. It’s just a really odd plan.
CI/CD. That would be a niceeee vps for building. Artefacts would be empherial so don't need much storage(as you'd pull it down post build).
To be honest, better to figure out how to best move BACKWARD .
Yeah, i have forgejo, a forgejo runner and a few small docker containers sitting on it right now and i'm already at 43G used, A lot of my overall servers are just running game servers for friends
Just sell 500 more triple RAM, Space and core plans and sell to someone else
In that situation I would just sit in the hallway and eat the Triple (3x) RAM pizzas
We all know that Lewis wasn't good at calculations...
Nope, technically it's only eve(ning) in New Zealand for just over 4 hours now...
😠
I'm going to bed and will be waking up as the Grinch.
I mean, looking at the order pages and the screenshot I posted earlier, this is actually spelled out in at least some of the listings?
For Example:
Ram and Disk have an initial amount in strike-through and the "triple" amount listed?
Edit to add: This sorta thing is also why it's confusing that orders are still being accepted - this has a quantity of 2 available right now... but seems to be one you'd consider unsustainable given that its rather stupidly cheap - which is I think why a lot of people are saying stop accepting orders.
No you can't. Many things can happen. But besides that... [see further on]
Well that's basically what drove "Lewis" into this mess: "O dear, I have to earn some money in some way so I can keep everything floating".
I bet the majority of customers you have now (coming from Lewis and yes, they are your customers) are non profitable at this moment in time. If you deduct all these you'll end up with quite some infrastructure for a small number of customers. While the current situation already isn't profitable because (according to Lewis) it's not using the infra fully. Even if you scale down, there will be quite some overhead still so costs per customer for that will rise. Licences, multiple locations, etc.
Now, I know you've mentioned a couple of times you don't consider old customers as yours. But they are - you're providing them now, you've taken over the company, and they have a contract with the company. If you didn't want the customers, they should have been deleted (and taken care of by the previous owner) when you took the key. You took over the company, the customers were in it, you have obligations.
When you terminate contracts that are non-profitable in your opinion, you'll be facing chargebacks. And maybe you can be the one saying "well, sue me" in the hope that for a few bucks people won't do, but Stripe - the payment provider - that many of them will file a chargeback with will come after you. And what's the description on the payment? "Veloxmedia". Not Lewis, but the company you own now. Good luck with discussing it with Strip - it's not a "few bucks" for them.
So all in all that will get to the situation that you either have to pull the plug yourself or others will - and then you've still acquired customers under your management who you now are promising that 100% sure they will get what they're paying for. I hope you are right. But those are financial situations I don't know if you're able to cope with.
Risk and reward go hand in hand.
If you handle it well, you'll gain a reputable company that can provide long-term benefits, like RackNerd (which also went away before, but now has a good reputation).
Alternatively, you can cut your losses in time, taking with you the few thousand dollars you've lost.
This is beyond hilarious.
When I called Velox out for their BS during BF I did so because something felt way off in how "Lewis" and "the Tom Harper guy" were communicating. I was not convinced they were different people, I recognized the "Tom Harper" character using American lingo ("y'all" is a current MAGA affectation) and "Lewis" portrayed a lot of "UK" but didn't actually sound or act like any of the Brits I have worked with. After making such a big award-winning show for BF, why would they immediately squander a big chunk of that goodwill over $13?
When I was privately offered 3x the original deal for free, I turned it down.
His sudden switch from ignoramus to super nice guy told me all I needed to know.
This "new guy" has the same unusually nasty, self-pitying passive-aggressive third world scammer approach that I perceived before, along with a "I'm just a belligerent guy volunteering to lose thousands to help strangers" that any child would know is obviously untrue.
It's sad to see some of you wasting your time trying to educate someone who is in fact educating you on how to suck people into scams.
How long before you are putting new money in?
Even rejected chargebacks hurt the vendor. Losing their ability to get paid is the best revenge. All your legit BF purchases gave him/them credibility with the payment services!
You probably are thousands of miles off in determining where he is really located. And he is likely using AI to convert his messages into various characters' ways of speaking.
Where's Biloh in all this? These guys promoted this scammer like no tomorrow. Let's see some accountability, gentlemen.
The LET members who immediately shilled for Velox in my situation should also be ashamed of themselves, unless they are part of the floating scammer crew always residing here.
Value your time and dignity. Unless you actually believe this "new guy" is going to "take hosting to a new level" -- then, by all means, invest everything you've got!
Why does it matter for what it will be used.
It was advertised that way and people bought it so provider needs to provide it.
It is upon the customer.
I can very well run a whisper Ai model which is ram and cpu hungry for transcribe and translation.
Below 16 gb ram, the large model won't even load. But I can work with 10 GB storage also.
Different projects have different requirements. That's why different packages exists.
Alright, so real talk. @VeloxMedia
I got a BF Deal for a server on the 1st of this month.
Invoice # 30958
Amount - $59.03
I need you to tell me if I can expect continuity on this service or is it going to be one of your "break even" casualties.
You make a lot of sense.
You do not have a company nor experience nor transparency and your flagship response is "Shall I switch off all servers" while not being able to answer basic questions.
Customers for sure will trust you.
So you're gonna refund the $5?
I literally had no idea my first big post would be so full of fun!
