Hehe, either I'm between you both in age or we're all just remembering the same era from different perspectives.
My dad first got a dot matrix printer at home in the mid 80s - he was a writer and and all his work was printed on that (because he submitted it electronically to a real computer by taking his computer to the office and connecting it via RS-232), and that's the printer I later inherited and used for about a decade. Sometime during school years, we got a laser printer but the teacher was really protective about who could use it.
By the time I was in university in the mid 90s, it was a real mix of tech. We had a lot of old line printers in the computing labs, but also a central printing facility where laser printing was something like £0.02 per sheet and you started each year with 500 pages of credit. They had colour laser printing but it was really expensive, something like £0.25 per sheet, and all the print jobs would be manually held until you showed up the the counter and confirmed that you definitely wanted it and would pay.
Remember being quite impressed only a relatively short time later in mid 2000s when colour inkjets had appeared from nowhere and suddenly became dirt cheap within a few years of their introduction. I remember buying several as it was cheaper to buy a whole new printer with half a cartridge of ink supplied than getting a refill for the cartridge!

I know from your perspective it seems like the ticket isn't being answered, but you could have cut out a lot of that by just saying "I tried to re-install ubuntu24 from the control panel and it failed with an auth error on vnc. Can you help? There is nothing on the VPS currently, and it's fine for you to erase the disk or reinstall it if you need to."
Personally, I wouldn't have requested an IP change while the other thing was going on, as that just confuses what your actual request is. Also, most providers don't change IP for free.
Again, to play devil's advocate. It obvious to you because one of the servers isn't working. It's not necessarily obvious to a provider who has tens of thousands of clients, and looking at yours he sees multiple systems, all seeming to be working as far as the information in his control panel is saying.
Even if you have said exactly which server you want wiped already, most providers would (or hopefully would) ask you to confirm it exactly again, because if they wipe the wrong one, you're going to be far more upset than just wasting a bit of time making sure it's correct.

Hehe yeah, in my eyes the 1st prize isn't the awesome gaming rig it's made out to be.
My main work PC from 4 years ago is Ryzen 5800X, 64GB, 3080 with 12GB, 8TB of local NVMe. Despite the GPU being a generation behind, it's still significantly faster than the 4060 and has more VRAM. The CPU is a bit slower but if I did the cheap upgrade to 5900X, it'd be about the same, and 5950X is significantly faster still.
I have another work PC with a 4060 and GPU performance is noticeably slower, typically taking about 50% longer on the kind of work I do.
There's definitely a thing - debugging by dot matrix. Just printing out your code and listening to the noise, you have 10 minutes to thing about what you did wrong and can usually find the mistake immediately without even needing to look at the printout.
