Yah, since we are on that topic and you did mention about voice cloning efficiency, let me tell you both index and F5 are great at it. They can even clone your voice with almost 100% accuracy with just a 12 second audio clip. But, to have better, you need to have atleast 1 hour dataset ready

It's not really that bad. Technically what you say is true, but in practice it's all ceremonial. He doesn't have the right to create or remove laws himself, his power is limited to allowing or vetoing new legislation. There hasn't been a single veto'd law for over 200 years, and the general consensus is that if the monarch ever did veto a law it'd trigger the start of completely removing the monarchy.

In practice however, the pretence of having to seek the kings approval on everything does provide a safety net should some party get elected who decided to completely destroy the rule of law or government. For instance, if a UK party tried to act the was Trump has done this term, just enacting laws and decrees without any discussion, I'd hope the monarch would actually interfere.

So if governments keep on doing normal things, there's no issue, he just keeps saying yes to everything, even if he personally disagrees with it - because it'll have been debated by both the house of commons and house of lords, and generally laws are reasonable if they survive both. Not always, but usually. For something completely radical that changes fundamental law to pass, it'd have been debated a lot by both current politicians and the lords (effectively retired politicians who tend to resist change), and so whether you personally agree with it or not, it's probably a good compromise of all viewpoints.

If the king ever did step in to veto something, it'd effectively be saying that he doesn't trust that whole process, and generally people think it'd lead to chaos, but certainly making a stark question of who SHOULD have the ultimate power - the king or the government - and so that would either lead to the monarchy being removed, or it'd lead to the government being replaced and another general election is called. Because the stakes for the monarch are so high, I think it's useful to keep this emergency brake, because it's not going to get used unless there's a serious problem with the government that can't just be dealt with in the normal way. That's why I gave Trump's executive proclamations as an example. That just wouldn't be tolerated in the UK, except under very narrow circumstances such as wartime and needing to make an immediate decision. Even though, those decisions would be scrutinised and heavily debated afterwards, and if they were bad could lead to a vote of no confidence, which triggers a general election if the threshold is passed.

I have personally been using CPU only for training a TTS model, and it isn't as slow as I'd imagined but having watched videos of people doing it with GPUs and the speed at which they complete, I am convinced GPU is much better. Moreover, there are processed which would even deny processing without a GPU

I guess just as basic as what software you're trying and whether it's decent or not. I looked at the webpages (so just their description not actually trying it) for about a dozen open source TTS about 9 months ago. Only one actually seemed to do proper voice mimicing, and despite its claims to be open source, there wasn't actually any source code or models to download.

I forgot about that project idea after that, but it's still something I'd like to experiment with if I find the time.

I can record as much as needed. I mostly want to AI my voice into Chinese though, so we'll see how that goes. Just because that spark one I linked to, that was one of their things. Getting famous English speakers to speak Chinese and famous Chinese speaking English. Was pretty good, but wasn't as open source as they claimed. Or I'm crap at looking for stuff.

No idea about Chinese. I have apmly tried english yet, American accent. But, yah, since these models are mostly based on Chinese datasets, it should be fairly easy I guess
