Berohost 69€/year.
Berohost 30€/year
Hostdzire 28€/year
Layer7 50$/year
Host c 57$/year
Other VPS I try monthly basis but these are the ones I try to keep.
@dataforest @berohost (2x) @FameSystems @layer7 @ionos (not beefy but still nice for 1€/m).
good selection
No thanks I have trouble sleeping as is
What's your not idler price/count?
@zGato i wanna know yours
around 11 servers, mix triennialy and yearly billing. and off course some of em are idler🤣
yearly cost around $250
I think it's just fun to learn stuff and it's pretty addictive.
They also double up as VPNs. Some used for storage, experiencing/managing other operating systems, comparing systems and hardware.
There's always that thought of "ah but that's better, and a better location and it's cheap"
I feel attacked...
Well I call it Hoarding Disorder. It doesn't take up any physical space to hoard it, but it makes people feel good.
Either way I am really considering to cancel more VPS now... please forgive me for contributing to the carbon footprint
Not much, around 2 dedi, and 8 VPS, around 225€/yr
2 Dedi with 32tb and 16tb as storage
4 VPS act as a shield for my dedi from DMCA
1 other as VPN and grafana for monitoring
3 other idling
Also have 1 homeserver (1650v4, 6x1.92tb ssd, 2x 4tb hdd) with around €7/m electrical usage
no…. i cant count.
hasn't changed much, I only keep cancelling lol.
but around 400 as usual. Most of them are idling, or partially being used.
i don't know, nor I want to know, how much it all costs. When an invoice comes, I just evaluate if I should cancel or not.
the fun part is finding out about vpss i've paid for over a year and didn't even know I had
i've 2 Dedicated Server ,, and 7 vps:
The remaining 7 VPS are all small, with annual subscriptions ranging in price from $7 to $20. They were paid from LET promotions and I'm only using them for testing my personal projects.
And I'm still looking for (AMD Ryzen 9950X) server, so I'm waiting for Black Friday
I am genuinely curious about your use case for so many servers. They cant all be idling for someone with that many servers.
5 dedi, 18 VPS, ~2k € / year. Approx. 50% of my VPS are idlers
8 VPS, 2 dedis, ~1500€/yr, mostly idle
about 1k, higher or lower. Removing webhosting and some vps soon. Try take only if worth the price.
FOUR HUNDRED SERVERS??? For personal use?
i have 6 dedi's:
1270v6 64gb 2x1920nvme X 4 9.99/month each
1270v6 32gb 2x1920nvme X 1 9.99/month each
1650v4 64gb 2x1920nvme X 1 14.99/month
total 65~ euros a month
Congrats!
You seem to have only what you need!
I try, but I can't do it.
Is it really for hobby those who spend over 1K / year ?
Are you saying I should stop paying my Layer7 invoices?
I was thinking ~100, and finally got a number 400 after calculation. Oh my fucking god.
Is everything automated with Chef/Puppet or Ansible to maintain them ?
I have at least 40+ in hosthatch and greencloud each.
3 servers = 1 cluster
1 server - docker containers
1 server - old method of deployment /var/www/html
1 server - run misc scripts e.g. scape
The cost isn't about the number of servers, but the dollar amount, LOL. I'm only using the $100 ones, and I've apparently accumulated so many that I've forgotten some of them. I haven't been very active this year, so it surprised me that I still own this many. My main setup is my HomeLab: an N100 mini PC and an old desktop with 128GB of RAM and a 3060 GPU.
It was like an addiction so it wasn't easy to let go of them
But now I don't need much time to maintain the few that remain, so I can use that time for hacking or other stuff.
is the ip clean? does reddit work?
Hi,
no! Of course you are supposed to cancel all others and transfer them to us!
But actually i try to make customers save money and not let them pay unnecessary for stuff they anyway dont need. But i guess thats simply the usecase here ^^; So i can perfectly accept the madness strategic investment
