Guhhh my reception is trash here. But I'm trying to listen to music. Guh!
Probably cuz I'm in the bus, which is moving.

    4G or 5G there?

5G. Tho it should automatically switch to 4G if it's not working

I always assumeed that European carriers were better than ours. In the recent times, I have seen Indian networks do very well even while travelling.

@bchot Just wanted to add this as well. Please don't get disheartened by looking at my pace. There are gonna be atleast 3-4 others I know of, who are slowly gonna catch up. So, consider my pace a simple benchmark of what you have to beat. That being said, this year, this is me taking slow. If you were to check the older threads, you would see that the competition within top 2 is almost everytime cutthroat. But, fortunately, mostly we have an understanding of who wants what.

no worries, I maybe just digging at you a little. on one hand i am also extremely competitive (re Olympics docs collection, it is only about competitions and competitiveness, well, besides being a good watch). on the other hand i am kinda conscientious about it all, so even while I am trying for the win, I want it to be more of a fun journey than a chore.. so yeah, a little stabbing here and there, keep others on their toes, makes it more fun.

and i do see the volume from prev years.. 7k comments for NY thread, not sure how long it went, even if it was the 7 weeks - you did more than now for sure.. what helps is understanding that all this yappidy-yap helps this thread stay on top, which must be generating extra sales here and there, so technically the prizes will be earned and well deserved in the end, no matter who wins what.

Yes, you get the point. I understand it's just fun and all, but, I just wanted to be extra-clear if you felt like I was setting you up to fail or something, which I am not.

here they all boast coverage everywhere.. i have google's FI mobile service, cheap enough that I can have 2 phones in service with their own numbers.. but they using T-mobile infrastructure, which is kinda well it's ok most of the time. My home internet is also T-mobile - a box that uses 5G, i get at best 400mbps down and 50-60mgps up, which is great cause i live like 200 meters away from the receiver tower (figured it out with a rep when was complaining about slow speeds, but was router's fault, not router per-say but like a box with a number that is basically an unlimited data hotspot). the number in that box receives messages too, i can read them and delete them using buttons on the box. funny the phone number it has ends on 6969 so when i get new box (twice already), i just switch SIM card and keep the fun number. Not that i can give it out to people to contact me, but still cool to have it.. 6969... =)

PS I Know, i am not a child anymore.. yet it makes me giggle.. =)

 Here in India, the main issue is population density. So, when 5G was launched, it was super fast, but, as 5G phones got cheaper and everyone started being onboarded to 5G with super cheap plans, they became slower and at times unusable. But, that's slowly changing as well, with the top carriers allowing interested users to setup portable towers and such. Moreover, almost every 2-3 homes in India has movied for optical fiber and air fiber connections now.

Yes, I would like to have this location available.

There are many who would love to have EU VPS and Dustin has already clarified that Dublin VPS should be in stock this month ASAP. And, I am pretty sure he will do everything in his power to get the stocks sooner rather than later. You can in all probability, expect some Dublin VPS deals when the chef arrives.

if candidly speaking, I would love more EU locations from RackNerd. I do have 3 France based VPS already from other providers, but read somewhere it's very near Germany, so maybe I would get it. Now I have 2 Paris and 1 Marseilles, and they are great. But it's hard to come by such locations like Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and some others. I know there are sellers that have ALL of these and more, not naming them here for no-competitition-allowed reasons, but those usually go for like $6-7 a month, which is of course non-comparata with the $10-11 a year pricing we're seeing here.. I mean, would I go for 1 VPS in Spain or would I go for 6-7 equivalent servers from RN? i say - the latter, of course..

wow, this is something I cannot get.. And I live like on the outskirts of Chicago downtown (so very much in the center) - and yet neither Google Fiber, nor ATT fiber, not Verizon, not any other offers around are here in my neighborhood. Fiber prefers apartment buildings, and thus they may never offer fiber here.. We can have cable, and during last 2 years it's gotten cheaper and unlimited is included, while before you'd pay 30% extra, and it can be up to 10Gig speeds, but for now I stick with the 5G T-mobile, cause it's still cheaper, and unlimited, and I just hate COMCAST as a company.. =)

It's pretty good overall, but usually it's a bit worse (like now) on places/roads where people barely live. Or at the outskirts of a village/small town (like my home).
The reception is pretty good during my travel in the bus, except at two specific roads.

@MrEd loving the dark theme! nothing else to ask

@noob404 i am perplexed how you manage to stay so far ahead of me.. it must be an insider deal with @MrEd to top off your numbers by a great deal.. =) it's OK, I got whole day ahead of me, but judging by yesterday's volume and adjusted for the dwindling convo in here, making it less opportunities to reply, - i don't know.. probably won't catch up again to you.. i have an idea that you might be hyping up others to have some competition, and eventually you'll just soar, judging from last year's numbers.. you just want others to have a little hope.. LOL

If it wasn't 400+ comments, I could paste all the URLs easily to each comment :D Trust me, all numbers are real ;)

  • i was just wondering this.. lets say @MrEd has those aff links there in stats, right? so then if I, an existing customer at RackNerd, click one of those aff links and order a VPS, does that benefit the link owner? I have never experienced having my aff links clicked before, but same thing is when I am an amazon customer, and on some blog I click an affiliate link leading to amazon and buy something, do people profit from it? or is it more like bringing NEW customers that buy stuff when profit kicks in? what's the process and mechanics of it?

heh, no worries, as i explained to @noob404 - i am just friendsly jabbing a little bit for fun.. =) in the end it will be up to @dustinc anyways to discount some comments or count their own way, and so on..

i do see and appreciate the fact that I've used "most words" per comment for people with at least a dozen comments. so it's cool to make up 1st spots for myself with arbitrary cutoff lines even if I'm not first by total comments.. and by total words spilled - I am first for sure.. thanks on that metric!

Hi @bchot -- hahaha, I don’t mind it one bit. It actually keeps things interesting around here 😂
