Yet again, no dreams of winning anything this time, just because, I can't put the time in this time. But, I will do my best to keep you guys on your toes for the next 2weeks tops, whenever I can

my thoughts as well.. do what i can for 2-3 weeks, then try to reevaluate the situation and see if I can continue or not.. and if it's worth continue trying.. =) but for now just having fun. making it harder for @dustinc to find those posts askign for double bandwidth and such.. =)

I'm curious, do any of you watch twitch regularly?

I go through spurts. Have you noticed how agrressive they've been with ads? I do use an extension but sometimes I will use mobile which I don't have a blocker on it

That's why you use DNS level ad blocker, simplifies the life.

I used to on my home network but it interfered with some things like news videos so I stopped. Though I really should setup a different WiFi SSID that will block ads, something like MyWiFi-Adblocker so it will be simple. I also used DNS66 on my android tablet which did a great job.

Presently, I have to do it per device, cause my router doesn't support OpenWrt. At the pace these ads are multiplying, I might have to soon get an OpenWrt compatible router.

gl.inet makes some nice travel routers (I can only personally comment on the travel routers) but I hear they also make nice "home" routers.

I haven't really looked into other streaming sites, like twitch. I think Twitch is the most known/popular?

I recommended Kick, because they have a better monetisation share than Twitch and from what I have heard, aren't as headstrong when it comes to banning creators.

Have never once used Twitch in my life. I am not a huge fan of gameplay videos.

Aah. I watch some small minecraft streamers and i've been working on starting my own channel too

Good luck, dude. Also check Kick and Rumble, if you are interested. Maybe try streaming to all 3. Might increase revenue.

I only started like a week ago, so I usually only get like 1 viewer lol (my friend).

Well, you gotta start somehwere. Keep going. The first few days, weeks or even months are tough, but, that's what separates a successful person from another who just gave up.

Yep. My goal is to grow my channel so I can do it as a part-time/full-time job :)
So far, I really enjoy streaming so we'll see how far i can go!

Well then, also start a YouTube channel if there's demand for your niche. You are anyways streaming to a channel, why not stream to mutliple platforms in hopes of increasing revenue.

I'm streaming minecraft. And yeah, I am planning to make youtube videos out of it too. I currently have about 10 hours of raw minecraft footage, so I gotta edit that into one or two videos.

Myabe do an hour each. That way you have about 10 videos. BTW, on YouTube, space them out over a few days. On a new channel, do not upload them all together.

I don't think anyone is going to watch the raw footage. So I'll edit it into shorter videos.
My plan is to turn my 10 hours of footage into one (or maybe two) videos of ~15-20 minutes. Only keeping the interesting parts.

Yeah, it seems like the current thing to do is multistream to the various platforms and then post trimmed videos to youtube/some other VOD service after the fact (if you switch games/etc.) to also capture additional views

    Restreamer to the rescue

Since then, I have won 3 RackNerd participation GAs. So, my advice is keep going. RackNerd threads can get pretty crazy. You won't believe the hype when the Chef's (a mystical being that appears on RN BF threads spreading unbelievable deals, giveaways and what not) around. During those days, we usually rip through pages of comments in minutes.

LOL! You are wrong on the last part there. He is an expert at that. I sometimes wonder how he manages. I don't wanna jinx it, but, be assured that he will not miss a single post for double bandwidth and will also find the time to reply to our conversations. I have seen him at work for 2 years. Hope RackNerd keeps this up for many more years to come.

Yah, they are the recommended brand when it comes to OpenWrt apart from the official Owrt 1. They have got some good home routers as well. Unfortunately, shipping them to India can be a pain.

an article on TorrentFreak actually states once you start blocking stuff, it's a slippery slope.. so i personally just vigilantly avoid ads and close popups.. if you good and fast enough - popups don't harm.
