Not only DDoS many kind of threat activity like sqli, xss and what not WAF helps in many conditions.
WAF stands for Web Application Firewall. It can include many things, like protecting your site from known attacks, sql injections, etc.
What would be excie duty if you don't mind sharing.
Shippings costs would probably be pretty expensive.
I'll probably just convert it to credits then.
Oh I see. Know about SQLi. xss is alien to me.
Well, since I anyways need a laptop, "buying" it for the price of taxes would be beneficial.
TIL, thanks to you guys. I just knew the F stands for firewall. Didn't actually look into it. But, if I already have ufw on the server, is WAF really an improvement?
Cross site scripting it's nasty
Sorry, answering my own question. Ig, WAF can only do port level blocking. So, WAF is the better option. Did I get it right?
If that were the case, it would actually make sense. But, we, in India at times have to pay 150-200% of the item's price and the funny thing is the price is arbitrarily determined by Customs. The bill doesn't matter.
Another day, another new threat.
Ufw can harden server security but what about website security? What if someone just pointed to wp-config.php when your phpfpm is down or under upgrade?
UFW protects you from packets, network in general, or Layer 3. WAF works on Layer 7 and has more logic on the request itself.
Makes sense. Thank you.
Sorry, didn't understand the question.
BTW, does anyone from India have any information about laptop brands that do honour international warranty in India, on laptops bought in the US?
Import duty and taxes
I had a false sense of protection from anything around me till now. Time to step it up, ig.
Asus and apple provides international warranty(I own or previously owned the devices and can confirm the same).
For laptop there is 0% import tax, so basically only 21% VAT + broker tax (depends on shipping company - 30-50Eur). So buying laptop for 1/5th of the price is a good deal
was there a flash sale or something announced? cause then I can see why this whole outage happened.. my network heavily relies on CF, and during downtime couldn't even login to their dash to change DNS at least to avoid their network..
You from the Netherlands?
Ah okay sounds good enough for me it would be around 30% import duty plus 18% Tax.... Ffs why is it like that even after decades
Lithuania if i guess correctly
Hey, is Asus' international warranty only applicable on certain models? I tried taling directly with their US chat and the person I got was dumb. keept beating around the bush for 15 minutes and then said, a Zenbook model I asked for, doesn't support it.
From Lithuania.
well, this clarifies NOTHING
I guess it's only for models available at both locations.
Lets say, I have found a little loophole, and while it lasts, I don't want it to be gone
But as I mentioned, I don't need right now a headless browser, and I like it
Yah, that's the issue. That's just a free pass for them to deny warranty if a single alphabet or number is replaced in the model number due to regional variations, while the specs and everything else remains the same.
