Just saying, some of the articles in your blog are interesting and technical. Postgres is one of my favorite things.
Mr @onidel (maybe it's just me?), but a lot of locations returns
for
api/instances/price- like Intel® Xeon® Platinum / Ho Chi Minh 2 and AMD EPYC™ Premium / New York.I guess those are out of stock, but not marked as out of stock?
Please fix.
for NYC that is expected because the location is not ready yet. It is there just for “awareness”
I will ask the team to look into the HCM case. My guess is that the API was called before the server and location were updated i.e the location was HCM, but the server hadn’t been switched to Xeon Platinum yet - this happens when you change a location/server but the current selected server/location is not available for that location/server.
I'll shoot my shot here before opening a ticket.
I reinstall my vpses to debian running some script and for onidel (only onidel so far) it breaks ipv6 somehow.
is there some special sauce I am missing? Gateway and static IPs are the same before and after. Routes look the same.
IPv4 works fine. Dns works for both.
I'm not using netplan so I might be missing some cloud-init magic?
And before anyone takes this the wrong way:
i know this is not an onidel issue. The templates work fine!
I had a similar experience after some planned maintenance work they had. What I did is basically do a snapshot of my current server, reinstall, confirm ipv6 works with their template, and then restore from snapshot.
For some reason IPv6 worked again (it worked before the maintenance tho). Only thing I noticed is boot method changing from BIOS to UEFI, but I just changed that back.
do you mind sending me a DM with your VM IP? A few notes of what script you ran would be useful as well. I will look into this for you.
I just had a look into your ticket. It is a bit weird as we haven't received any other reports of this issue since the Sydney maintenance. According to the work log, the staff also performed random IPv6 checks and everything appeared to be working fine. If you run into the same issue again, please let me know and I will personally look into it.
Regarding the boot method change after restore, we identified that the system wasn't preserving the original configuration from the backup or snapshot and instead applied the settings from the current image. At some point after your VM was created, we used a UEFI image instead of BIOS, which caused the issue. This has been fixed in our dev release and will be rolled out to prod later this week.
What can I say, @onidel looked at my config, found the issue and it's fixed and working.
in case anyone stumbles here from google or whatever, problem was with me having ipv6 randomly generated instead of EUI-64 (calculated from mac address)
there is a million settings for that, in my case:
net.ipv6.conf.all.addr_gen_mode=0did the trickI love onideal
