My sites used to go up and down a few times a day in LV, haven't noticed it since the migration. Last notification for down time was Saturday and I think that's the migration itself. So far, very happy.
@Francisco any news on UK upgrades?
Separately, I don't recall whether you now allow offload SQL to be used off-namecrane, i.e. for a self hosted nextcloud (3-4 users max)?
UK is supposed to be delivered this Friday, all about how quickly ups sorts customs.
2 of 3 packages got delivered to Singapore so far.
Yes remote is fine on SQL.
Francisco
What is the Amsterdam status?
All genoa’d.
Francisco
@Francisco you said new plans for namecrane should be coming soon?
No ETA. No idea what Mike has in mind other than 'more CPU/RAM' or something like that. The nodes are really calm and sit at 90%+ idle. We might as well offer some more CPU/RAM.
Francisco
+1 for this
I'm also having a client hosted on lu-shared02DA, and the node seems quite stable since the upgrade. From 21st to 27th had just 1 min downtime on 23rd Aug. Elese there was everyday downtime for 1 to 2 mins for 2 or 3 times. Now its cool.
@Francisco Hi Francisco - I've got a hosted mail support ticket that isn't getting replied to. What's the best way to get it resolved/get in touch with you or a colleague about it? Thanks.
Support ticket? Let me know the ticket ID and I’ll look.
Francisco
@Francisco you need to do something about SG location. I moved all of my services from Myw.pt(which was working great until gone) but your SG servers are very slow. Clients reporting editing simple elementor page takes ages to load.
please look at it.
We expect the Genoa's to be up this week or latest next week.
Just waiting on the box of network gear to be delivered.
Francisco
@Francisco Thanks - the ticket number is #CRANE-14743.
Yes, I can confirm that things are much calm now. No downtime!
Great work @Francisco and the team.
I have a shared hosting account with asurahosting, who seem to be resellers of namecrane. I wonder whether the system upgrades mentioned here are related to the frequent mysql 'too many connections' errors I am having since 14 August (the exact date this thread started), and almost daily from 21 August (more than 100 instances each day). I never had this error occurring in my logs once before 14 August since I joined asurahosting in April. I am on their Luxemburg (now Amsterdam?) shared server.
Thomas
Asura doesn't resell us. They buy DDOS protection from BuyVM which is what you're probably thinking?
Francisco
Hi Francisco,
Thanks for your reply.
The server IP I am on with Asura belongs to Frantech Solutions, their worldwide server locations are exactly identical to Namecrane's and their hosting plans are near identical to Namecrane's (with similar pricing as well). That's why I was thinking they are using your servers and might be affected by any hardware upgrades you perform.
Thomas
That's fair
We've diverged some from BuyVM with them going to Switzerland and Crane going to Netherlands. I can't help you with any issues at Asura, so I'd recommend ticketing them, or see if they have a rep on these forums.
Francisco
I have an ongoing ticket with them already for a couple of weeks since the mysql connection issue started on August 14th (having lead to down times of my website of up to an hour each time). They said it was a server issue that was fixed now but then a day or two later it started again. I was considering moving to Namecrane if their issue does not get fixed soon, but wonder whether I am moving just into the same issues there.
Thomas
I also use AsuraHosting and noticed that several of their shared IPs are associated with Frantech Solutions. Since NameCrane is clearly part of Frantech Solutions, does this mean AsuraHosting is connected to NameCrane or any resellers?
NameCrane is a separate operation. There is some shared Colo in UK and NYC, but that all changes in the coming week or two.
Asura uses frantech for ddos mitigation, they don’t resell crane or anything like that.
Francisco
UK upgraded as of last night
Work order is in with the SG datacenter to hopefully complete racking this weekend.
Francisco
Ah, that's why the restart! Nice!
So is it possible that your server upgrade could be negatively affecting the ddos services you are supplying to them? Again, I am asking because the mysql 'too many connections' issues I have been getting frequently in the last couple of weeks started exactly on the day the server upgrade was announced by you here.
....? No, that makes no sense.
There is no shared equipment between NameCrane, BuyVM, & Asura. Namecrane is off in its own little world doing its thing. Whatever Crane does has no affect on BuyVM or Asura.
Asura uses BuyVM just for basically just internet connectivity. They have their own servers that do the actual hosting outside of BuyVM, that's where your site is hosted.
Your MySQL issues with them wouldn't be affected by the connectivity they get from BuyVM, since when you're connecting to MySQL, its connecting through the local server.
I would recommend bumping your ticket with them.
Francisco
Well, if Asura had bought DDOS protection from Cloudflare and this is failing for some reason, I might be seeing similar 'too-many-connections' errors. In the present case, the DDOS proxy services are just not provided by Cloudflare but by you, as is evident from the fact that all the obvious server IPs Asura have (subdomains of my-control-panel.com) belong to FranTech Solutions.
Right, but the 'too many connections' is your website connecting to the local MySQL. Your app/site/whatever makes no 'internet' connection to the SQL server, it goes over the local server itself. It never leaves the server.
As I said, Asura uses BuyVM/Frantech for DDOS protection, that wouldn't cause the issues you're seeing.
You're pretty insistent that the faults on BuyVM/me somehow, but it isn't.
Francisco
If you bought a used car and wrecked it in the first hour, would you blame the dealership that sold you the car or your bad driving?
Asking for a friend.
