Wd rulez and Seagate sucks
Or that too

vouch
By the BackBlaze Drive stats HGST is better than WD or Seagate https://www.backblaze.com/blog/category/cloud-storage/hard-drive-stats/
Anyway, if HGST is not an option I prefer WD.
HGST was bought by WD in 2012. the technology is now in WD drives, but HGST doesn't exist anymore.
Anyway, you still can buy HGST drives and by the statics it works better than WD.
PS. I am wrong, WD stats is better on the 2025 Q1. BackBlaze use 33-33-33 rule, about 33% of seagate drives, 33% of Toshiba drives and 23% WD and 10% HGST. But I saw a year rating and HGST was on the first place.
something up with the website? Been getting gateway timeouts for the last half hour or so.
edit: was able to get a ticket through, seems they have it sorted now!
Yapp, fellas are playing a bit in the back-end network wise, well, what can I say, we did schedule this for night time, at least our night time
Remember, ticket us, someone will bumb into it, eventually
Well almost, but that does give me an idea....

See, even things go a bit sideways ( to shit is the right word ) the popcorn posts here make us smile and have confidence that we can do better ( or fuckup worse ).
Either way, we move forward
lemme guess, on the pic is @host_c upgrading firmware on the seagate drive?
Well, almost, But 1 thing is sure, we Divorced Seagate 4 Life.
any royal deals? @host_c

Bury the bad news

Hello, sir.
How many years can the Gold 6248 storage VPS be renewed for?
Will the price increase in the future?
.... sorry!
62XX ( scale Gen 2 ) will stay in production for at least 3 years ore more. - they will also get upgrades during this lifetime.
Next jump will be to DDR5 ( we will skip the Generation 15 and probably Generation 16 Dell Servers ).
So I can say the the Scale Gen 2 will be around for many more years.
We don’t have any plans to increase prices, though of course some factors are beyond our control.
At the moment, we’re actively working on strategies to maintain our current pricing, including re-negotiating terms with the data centers where we operate.
Just to add one note on this ( love quoting myself
)
In scale Gen 2 for storage we do not see any reason to change them in a hurry. As most pointed out, ~1000 in GB6 is fair enough ( some say it is good ) for these type of services. Plus we can actually use the formula for storage we developed over the last year. They have been proven to be top-noch, no issues, well, no issues beside Seagate, but that brand died in my eyes, so HGST is our new love bitch.
Unless newer OS will need some spicy CPU type, we do not intend to fetch new type of CPU.
We do not intend to Compete with AMD Services, as there is no competition in the first place between AMD and INTEL on the same Generation. There are many Fella providers offering Excellent AMD services here, they have been doing it for much longer then we, so we will stick to what we know best, storage.
We do however plan to work more on features promised:
Any questions are welcomed here.
Just a heads up, next 2 weeks is Vacation, for myself and Stuart also, so repy's will be slow.
Stuart... working on priority tickets during vacation...
Meanwhile, @host_c counting profits, making big plans...
