GreenCloud's Zero Tolerance for Child Pornography

I don't believe so. You violated their TOS, they reserve the rights to immediately terminate the service without even giving any notice. They instead let you did it 4 times.
Mods should edit topic to "Greencloudvps has no tolerance for child porn"
Sarcasm is good. Trolling isn't. In the way it's done with this subject it's going towards the last...
Exactly; the provider is not your first-line-helpdesk to receive complaints and pass them through to OP. Sorry to say, but I think they are right. And I don't know the nature of the complaints - it could be from individuals that are not happy with one harmless image, but could also be legal firms acting on large number of images or it can even be about illegal pornographic/explicit material. But with 3 complaints/warnings already, I think the provider has been quite generous.
And if you aren't able to prevent, and you didn't already, after the first complaint I'd put backups in place. Because you should know then you're on thin ice. But backups are in general: it's "your" data, and there can always happen something that it's gone or unreachable, even if a provider says they make backups: you should always be in control.
bro i would backup after 1 warning
4 warning is insane
I would imagine that bigger image hosting services receive more than four requests on a hourly basis. No one can completely control what people upload to free publicly available services.
But then again, Imgur most likely isn't run on a budget VPS box, so there's that.
bro, you don’t have many chances for error.
When you're warned, you should’ve backed up your data by now.
i agree
but with lowendtalk provider after 1 warning i would already backup everything
No one, including me, accept CP. But other providers give time to process before deleting all data. I did a backup yesterday, but the amount of data is large so it can't be completed in one day.
Regarding the backup issue or the deletion of my data, it’s not my primary concern. I’d like to seek advice on how Greencloudvps operates and manages reports in comparison to other hosting providers.
I would imagine an image hosting service would at least own the IP address and receive the complaints directly? It seems insane to host a service where anyone can post CP on a VPS and expect the provider to be happy and forward the complaints.
Thats exactly the point, they are not your first level support team. Each ticket means expensive work for them vs a very cheap product.
Yeah normal!
Just go with hosts like Offshoreracks, MLNL.host, CooperShield.host and setup reverse proxies
these I have found good soo far!
You should have reviewed your model (seemingly a free for all) when the first complaint came in. I’m sure that 30min cleanup follows hours or days of the content being there until it gets reported and you in turn notified. Sounds like it was beyond you to moderate the service.
I see no fault in GCV deleting the data and not retaining a copy of a dataset with child abuse material very likely amongst it, tbh.
Mate fuck off. You are acting like a victim here. Your shit platform had child pornography.. If you are providing a platform, you have some responsibilities. The biggest one is making sure sick fucks are not able to upload stuff like that. If you cant handle that, you should not offer a platform. Its simple.
At this point everything you write is just some childish bullshit. Get your shit together, take responsibility, get a different host for your clown cp project and gtfo. Pathetic..
There are a thousand ways I can think of to stop uploads like that. Dont blame the hoster, learn to reflect and blame your lazy self.
Yes, thank you. Initially, I manually checked and deleted content daily, but my work and family responsibilities limited my ability to do so more frequently, and I acknowledge my mistake when things spiraled out of control. So I’ve considered discontinuing the service previously and have no issue with Greencloudvps denying my access to their service. I simply want to compare how they handle issues when problems arise compared to other providers.
They handled it way more gracefully than other providers would have. Most would have booted you off at the third offense, some maybe even on the second offense if the reason is “child pornography.”
They made the (correct) business decision that they don’t want your money in exchange for all the troubles you bring to them. That’s all.
Sadly, that’s not how things work in real life. What prevents you from uploading an image of your dick on Imgur, for example?
Anyone can upload or link anything they want everywhere (including that forum).
It’s then up to the moderators how quickly they react.
That's not a knock on GreenCloudVPS. I mean, a budget VPS is not appropriate for publicly uploadable stuff. I just wanted to point out that things aren't always as you imagine. Whatever you run publicly, someone including competitors, can abuse it, and all you can do is remove the crap as quickly as possible.
3 warnings.
Same images.
Child porn ?!??!?!?!?!
What else do you expect from GC?
I mean, you can likely run some ML/AI thing on it. Apple does it for iMessage now. I’ve had one false positive when my mom sent me pictures of her earrings and it thought it was nudes but otherwise seems to work great.
But yes, not 100 % effective. Esprcially if you want to allow naked content to begin with.
Just fuck off!
Yeah, he said that he uses "projectarachnid" whatever that is.
He may as well be completely against illegal stuff. I mean, why would he shoot himself in the foot? It's just... even if it's "legit", services like that should be run on his own infrastructure.
Whether you want it or not, people will abuse it and you don't pay your host enough to deal with that crap indefinitely.
Yeah. I think when you host stuff like this for free you have to give it your all to stop things like this from spreading. AI/ML, run it against databases, ban identified images from being uploadable again, ban abusers IP subnets so that they hsve to rotate IPs, just make it as annoying as possible to use the site for this sort of thing.
But at the end of the day, do EVERYTHING you could possibly do and there will still be abuse, so using a LET provider was the wrong call to begin with.
I don't even understand what's the point of offering a free image hosting service, i.e. doing all this work for people to upload images for completely free with nothing in return. The OP says they don't even put ads on their site.
As an end user, I would continue to use imgur or whatever if I wanted a place to dump an image for free and don't care about its privacy. Anyone can enlighten me?
Good question, but isn't the same with various forums or as example random paste sites people run and which we at LET gladly use? Except for Pastebin, I usually don’t see any ads on various paste sites. Someone here even made a website that allowed uploading and directly downloading files with their original names, and if I remember correctly, many people from LET used it.
People do it as a hobby, for fun, for profit, to create something cool, or in an attempt to succeed and get rich later on, etc... Imgur was created (and most likely abused as hell) as a side project as well.
Ah yeah, a hosting company with an revoked certificate.
Also congrats on being the only one to mentioned coopershield.host on LET.
it doesn't matter, since they are providing good services along with other providers I have servers with!
I do always try to find and vouch for new providers instead people getting there data erased or privacy violated
Topic updated.
Bro get tf outta here lmao just 4th lmao
Also, good luck finding provider here that allow your CP
Ok but like I'm genuinely curious, what would be expected to do?
or like what would you guys want me to do specifically? is having a directly reachable [email protected] displayed on the website enough? obviously noone is going to monitor manually the images once it gets above x size..
