Maybe add a hint like "create a user first" or just a "-", not only to make it look better, but also to let the user know to create a user first (tho mostly just to make it not look too empty)

    This should behave better now.

Is it similar to aiven.io? They give a generous amount of database query and size in mysql, pgsql and redis.

    Is it similar to those?

    I guess so? :)

Redis is already offered by shared/resellers.

  • I dont recommend you offer PostgreSQL because Vaccum Jobs are required and it would be a hassle.

  • Great.
I Wanna try high search query.

Postgres isn't something i'm gonna rush into. I have very little experience with it.

For now lets get MySQL running happy and hopefully backups works the way I want them to.

UI bug - when adding an IP address to the whitelist, it shows “created:” but doesn’t show data next to it :)

    Absolute unit.

Should have the user modal in a few.

    Francisco

When creating a database, you can refer to DirectAdmin to add an option.

User with the same name and a secure password would be automatically generated

I think that's a pretty decent idea. Could then call it a 'database wizard' of sorts. i'll play with the interface some today :)

As for backups, I was aiming for hourly, but I think for the initial build we'll aim for at minimum daily, but more likely 'every 4 hours'.

Other places do 'point in time recovery' via the binlogs, which I think we could do as well, but I don't think that's something I want to fiddle with on the initial product launch. For the price we're going to be charging I think daily/4h is more than fair.

    Feedback?

For the price you are charging 'on demand via panel click' would be still more than fair so set it to whatever you like.

'On Demand' will also be there from the get go :)

Would you say 'on demand' backups should age out? Maybe we keep backups separated some so you can restore a backup to a different database.

I have to say, everything seems to be working pretty sweetly. I’m having to use phpMyAdmin on a custom subdomain - any plans to offer a one-click PMA from within the panel?

I don't follow. Our panel already does SSO. Where else do you want the SSO?

Age out? Most likely no - however this depends how much $ you want to waste on storage ;)
Limit a number of snapshot and rotate/force user to deleted old one before creating new one if limit reached? Absolutely. Set this to 2-3 so people won't abuse and use it as backup-backup before doing wordpress update and then one-click restore if it fucked up.

If you would give some way to download those backups to users that would be nice.

Oh does it? Sorry - I was on mobile while I was coding earlier and must have completely missed the phpMyAdmin link. I’ll check when I get home.

:) In the ... it has a login to phpMyAdmin in the Users tab.

I'll probably add an extra button for SSO.

Found it - when on my mobile, the bar doesn’t show past enabled and so I couldn’t see an option - it doesn’t side-scroll when in normal portrait orientation haha

Storage isn't a big concern at the moment. We turned up a little over 1PB in Kansas just for backups. SQL backups are a 10:1 compression ratio so if we hold onto some its fine.

I do agree though, a 'snapshot' cap is likely best. I have to get some monitoring built for Mike first and then i can work on this.

We're still a month or two before we start charging. I'll want to get LUX running a beta for at least a few weeks before we announce the BETA ending.

Pricing looks to be $0.50/G/year, but with a 10G minimum buy (so, $5/year to start). Backups/snapshot included in that.

4 hours is definitely enough. You can provide backups of 2 hours or less on higher priced plans.

It would be really cool if I could save it to my CraneMail Email Hosting or Google drive on a regular basis! Support for WebDAV for regular or manual backups would also be cool!

Hmm. I don’t want to get too crazy on it. I think a wgetable JSON then people can automate it past that.

Probably have a /download/latest endpoint too.
