Blame me if I miss it, but what's the difference between namecrane's offload SQL and the Frantech one? More functions or lower price? Thanks.

Different companies, different hardware, different features.

I think BuyVM is just using DA or cPanel. We've got a custom setup on a stack we picked out specifically for this, and bought specific hardware that performs better for SQL workloads (in Vegas & NL at least, we're just using spare Ryzen nodes in UK/NY/SG just to have something there for the time being).

Buyvm is built on DA and only available in 2 locations. It was never built to be a true standalone product and instead a stop gap to deal with the 50 or 100 MySQL servers running on a 8 disk raid10 of 7200 drives getting blown outta the water during the openvz days.

Could you bump the beta limit so that I can try the SG location, please?

Do you intend to buy any of these betas? Me bumping it and it just be the same 30 users buying a bunch doesn’t do much.

I intend to buy the NL location since most of my VPSes are located in EU. If so, you can cancel all the other beta locations in my account except NL with no problem so that I can give SG a try.

  • I will order the SG , I think it's in the same DC as my ServerPoints VPS.

    Not yet.

I don’t want to dive too far into dev on this and there’s not enough outside demand for it.

For the original purpose of forcing shared people to move to it, there’s no demand or need for an api.

Offload SQL's up in Netherlands, come test it out!

    https://namecrane.com/store/networking/managed-databases

We'll be ending the BETA on June 1st. When that happens all packages will be swapped to the cheapest plan ($5.00/year). You can then choose to keep it or cut it loose.

We'll have additional space available at $5/year per 10GB additional storage. Backups do not count account that usage, but snapshots WILL.

    Francisco

if you want to real test and stress. let me know..

I need to learn how to even use it before I attempt to sell it as a product. I do think we'll offer it in time, it's just a demand thing. It'd be a product targeted entirely at standalone customers, instead of MySQL which we can push heavily on shared/resellers.

@Francisco do crate plans need to use the offloaded db too?
