Reseller allows spammy users
Jar suspends all the reseller's accounts until he find offending users
Jar finds offending users and unsuspends reseller
A lot of people who can't read simple sentences and are playing dumb on purpose
thats it
lol thanks!
You forgot to add that in the end @jar was being nice and generous again.
Thanks!
Thanks Jar, $7.5 for BF Medium feels like stealing, but $15 is much better
(just joking! Id love to pay u $100 for the service
managed to get a reseller plan thanks, can't wait til my hate thread is opened up
It is not THAT simple.
If it was for a vps abuse, only the corresponding vps would have been suspended and could be addressed through ticket.
Here, OP didn't abuse yet his account got suspended and I understand why it did and the complexities that mxroute faces.
You are painting it as simple scenario which is far from portraying the real scenario.
So the bottom line is, much safer to buy from Mxroute directly than from the resellers.
If one person commits abuse, all accounts on that reseller will be suspended. Including legit customers.
Incorrect, read the comments from @jar and stop making assumptions
Multiple users from this reseller were abusing the service so to not impact the other multitudes of MXRoute users he suspended the reseller account until it can be dealt with.
Its normal, any host in the world will suspend the reseller account if they get to many spammers from one reseller account.
Its the resellers responsibility to give service to genuine services only.
I am reselling owrbit & namecrane both are offering offshore hosting. Doesn't mean i can give that to spammers or any one doing anything illegal. I can make a lot more profit if i was just selling it to anybody.
Some services require manually checking of orders or using fraudchecks.
Personally not a fan of fraudchecks so i just manually check the orders.
Basic rule of any host is we will just notice it three times, if not a major complaint. If you continue to sell it to spammers boom permanent ban.
Incorrect. A lazy reseller who makes no effort to prevent repeat orders from spammers through their billing system is the risk here. The number of resellers who seem to be unable to get this right is less than 2. We have 3 reseller servers. That’s pretty good odds.
It’s always been that way: Avoid hosting providers that accept all orders with zero filtering. They all provide horrible service. Always have. It’s not sane to think I would let one of them have their way with my service. We’re only as reputable as our weakest link.
I am low-key disappointed that this is yet another click-bait title and @jar is not in the wrong here - as proven so many times again
I want my time back for reading 6 pages of posts
On a positive note, I wanted this thread. 💜
@jar @beanman109
So if I am a customer of direct Mxroute and commit abuse, will all accounts under Mxroute be suspended to prevent negative impacts on other customers?
Are customers who buy from resellers placed on a different server or a dedicated server?
Or maybe they use different IP?
I'm trying to understand here.
reverse psychology doesn't work here bud
sarcasm and *ahem* 90% off works here though
You stated that "If one person commits abuse, all accounts on that reseller will be suspended. Including legit customers."
That is wrong, Jar suspended the reseller account because MULTIPLE users from the same reseller were abusing the service.
I can't speak for MXRoute as I'm only a customer but with a hot guess, if a single user from a reseller account is abusing the service that individual user probably gets suspended and the reseller notified to rectify the problem with their user.
However in this instance it sounds like a LOT MORE than 1 user from this reseller in particular was abusing the service so it makes sense to suspend the entire reseller account to give time to clean up the problem and address it with the reseller as it's clearly a repeat problem that they haven't been addressing.
I think it’s easier than that:
All hosting providers need to do basic order filtering. All major billing systems have built in functions for this, and additional plugins exist for those that need more help with it. Tweaking these values to match your needs is key, but not using them or making no effort to tweak these values to be useful is incompetence or greed without care for your customers (because the intent is to reduce abuse on your network which negatively impacts your customers).
If a reseller has a bad user that needs to be terminated, the user is terminated. The reseller faces no repercussions from us.
If a reseller makes it evident that they will just let the abusers continue to order over and over again, and won’t make any effort to use the features of their billing system to reduce abusive orders, then the reseller may face repercussions.
The repercussions here weren’t even that crazy. They didn’t filter their orders and made me do it for them, so I suspended it because I can’t just let them keep adding new spammer accounts while I’m filtering their orders for them. So I audited the domain lists and SMTP logs for the customers on that reseller account, terminated the spammer’s other accounts, informed them of the consequences if they don’t do a better job, and unsuspended it. It’s pretty simple, and anyone who wouldn’t do at least that should be avoided.
The problem I see is some providers see reseller as a way to generate "passive" income by autopilot, but in reality the only thing reselling is just the infrastructure and not the other parts of the handling.
😉
wait i can make money from reseller accounts?
I think i need LowEndBet now
ive been doing it wrong this whole time
It is literally in the name re-sell-ing
sorry guys lex.st free shared hosting is now a paid service, all clients owe me arrears for the past year
No because @jar won't let you do it several times consecutively. As discussed, he does proper client validation.
Maybe try a little harder?
Okay I miss the repetition abuse thing.
And again, my opinion, it's still safer to buy from you directly because I will be free from naughty abusers and irresponsible resellers.
This is a valid opinion, I stopped buying from resellers for my MXRoute a couple years ago now because it's just easier to open a hate thread on LET about Jar to get my problems solved
I can certainly see that logic. But there are also incredibly reputable resellers like: https://onepoundemail.co.uk/
He’s so engaging and present that hell would have to freeze over to see the same event.
Either buy from ethical resellers that don't support spammers with their business practices, or buy directly from the source.
