Any ETA on when will this be made official? I don't want this to just end up as a discussion to be buried in the pile of historical junk
Are you guys serious? The spam generates money and tag sales! Why do you keep bumping such thread?
Sure, the moderators have a human soul as volunteers, but admins (not moderators) dictate how this forum works. It is all about money. Some people and even providers have quit this forum because of money and all the foundations in purple spam crap. All we can do is adapt and accept things as they are. Let's snap out of it.
Wanna see how it will end? https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/192140/humans-only-please/p27
Enough said
i think about comment for double something really annoying. the offer thread must be about sales and the product only. not about the order, unless there are problem when ordering such as maxmind fraud checking or can't order using the payment method.
the other is complaining about the service on the offer section thread is also annoying. why not have 1 thread for the review.
and for the other is the YABS without spoiler
Being annoying and being a spam are two totally different aspects. Just because you find something annoying doesn't make it a spam (since we are talking about spam).
Complaining about the service in the thread itself gives others a heads up about what they are about to buy because all the people don't always go through every small details. These complaints provides an insight of the service for that very package all in one place which is is a big plus for buyers.
This I can second. Walls of pretty much identical yabs provides little to no value, especially when people quote them and add a one word reply to it!
Wtf, people quote a 60 line yabs just to say "nice" or something similarly stupid. Someone should run a yabs on their brain, pretty sure it would not generate many lines.
YABS is not spam.
A good point.
YABS are, in many occasions, falls in to spam. Sometimes it doesn't even have any connection with the thread itself.
YABS is I/O + bandwidth + CPU abuse.
Provider should suspend VPS as soon as YABS is invoked.
Well this kind of "comment this" posts can be reduced at source perhaps?

First i would invite patron providers in a chat to actively expose, what can be done to reduce the spam without impact their sellings. Im pretty sure, the most doesnt care what happening in other threads than the own.
I believe a few providers have already stated that they resort to this tactic because other providers do, and it's therefore the only way to keep up.
Why should your sales thread die after a day while others are constantly being bumped to the top by the provider, under the guise off "I've doubled your bandwidth"?
And there will be providers who haven't said it but feel like that.

Jan 2025 is coming to an end.
And there is optimism in the air. Something will change. Something may change. Nothing will change.
To the next adventure, starting Feb 2025
The end ain't nigh.
End is always nigh at LE*
dibs on first response in next years post about this
you can try check first on the thread offers that almost all the page is full of invoice without any other discussion, don't you think it is spam ? if it spam then it for sure annoying. on the second point, i agree with you.
also no need to reply this anymore, you can share what is on your thought. i also only share my opinion here.
edit: seems you are the one of the spammer, comment something useless everywhere. many comment is useless, same like you are looking for more post only.
Switching to a better forum software should be considered too.
Afaik, Vanilla forums has been abandoned. Last official release was 2021.
https://open.vanillaforums.com/discussion/39558/official-releases-have-ended
Xenforo or Discourse, offers more advanced feature including a more robust search functionality than vanilla forum provide and most importantly, a better spam protection. A member has the option to completely ignore/hide a members post anytime if he/she wants to.
LET income is so substantial, that whole php team can be hired to maintain code base up to the bleeding edge. Greed and short sight does not allow to do this.
I'm curious as to how much you think their income is in comparison to costs?
~40k USD a year per developer.
Where does all the surplus go? CC pockets?
Ok. That is just absurd. I mean, not worth commenting on.
I was actually thinking this too.
When LEB (and LET after) started, it was all about what you could do with small VPSes, like 64MB of RAM.
I think that's probably the main reason they went with Vanilla, because it was minimalist forum software with few features?
Now it has grown, and small low end VPSes aren't really a thing anymore, what's stopping LET from using a forum which actually has good features, like a search that isn't complete garbage (to be fair, this is also made worse by all of the spam in offer threads)
That is when I would leave and never come back.
Blasphemy!
Reguards
I wonder that as well.
Anyhow...
