Hope this is just the beginning. Let's make noise again when Dustin's online.

Im gonna head out for the day now i think. Keep an eye out! Maybe MrEd will find his disk space upgrade today!

If he does, it will be the first ever storage upgrade GA, if I am not wrong. We have had service extension, core and RAM upgrade, not a storage upgrade yet.

I think there was once a storage upgrade of 20GB. Didn't see it myself, but people were talking... :)

On the BF thread 2024, of are you talking about the yesteryears'?

Not this year, it was one or two years ago ;)

Ahh, I see. Let's hope for your sake that storage upgrade makes a comeback this year.

I hope to catch ANY upgrade and that the curse of me being always offline when Chef is online is broken :) But yeah, Storage upgrade would be the best :)

Of course, I can easily make my disk space cleaner, but I am a hoarder - I keep all the DB backups of all the events that have been watched by the Stats page :)

But why not move the backups to your local system? And, I am just curious as a noob, as to how simple text based data could amass to GBs.

Its not only the DBs, the whole application is also backed up, because with each feature I add something to the DB model, so new application would not be able to open old DB file :) And since the DB is H2 file DB, I cannot just go into console and type "ALTER TABLE... ADD COLUMN..." :)

Of course, I could move backups to my server, but dodn't have a need yet :) I still have 17GB available. Also, docker images are taking space there, should probably prune them :)

Ah, got it now. I recently realised the indiscriminate amount of space that Docker can take up as well.

Yes, Docker can be a space hog

I must complete my collection! All I want is swag, and maybe some credit or servers. Y'all can have the good loot. :p

Actually that was one worry i had about docker and one thing thats been delaying me in setting it up. Most of the things i deploy have their own sort of "containerize" environment. I.e. ruby bundle, python venv.. I would think those are more lightweight than putting it in a docker container.. as i understand it though it would make the deployment process slightly easier. What I have works though... so why change?.. I guess its moreso i may not know what I am actually missing out on until i try it

  • @Beniskickbutt said: Is this good or bad? Are you on the hunt to figure out which data centers use whom? Most of my experience has been with colocrossing. They seem to be everywhere

Personally, I'd consider single-homed Cogent not great. You can check the test IP with bgp.tools to see the connectivity.

I'd agree. The LA locations have much better peering.

My Xbox Series S was delivered from a GameStop in I think Kentucky? So it was unbranded but I could always slap a sticker on it! BOOM, limited edition. :D

Ah interesting.. never heard of that site... So it looks like my LA server starts at MULTACOM, then jumps to NTT and Cogent and then fans out to a bunch of the "big" ISPs

Doh, free storage never lasts long.. so many places used to be free

However, starting March 1, 2025, storage and repository limits will apply based on your subscription. Private repository storage is calculated on a monthly basis based on the average storage used throughout the month per organization.
