Yes, pretty much. In some parts, worst than Mexico. Rio de Janeiro, for instance. It's civil war there -- not joking. I'm talking about areas with +300-400 thousands inhabitants controlled by criminal organizations that have even bazookas to shut down helicopters from the police. We have our mafia as well, the PCC, that controls the biggest state of Brazil, São Paulo. They are way less violent than the Rio de Janeiro thugs but still they are pretty dangerous and you shouldn't mess with them (recently they killed a guy in an international airport)

I must say that not ALL of Brazil is extremely dangerous. I live in a place where you can let things in the street and ppl will not pick up. But Rio de Janeiro, especially, is the probably one of the most dangerous places in the earth.
100% good -- it should be put in place here. PCC pretty much controls the country. In 2006, they stopped São Paulo -- the greatest city in LATAM -- and made a massacre that killed +500 people, mostly cops but also civilians. Everything because their leadership got transfered to another prision. And now they are WAY more powerful. If we don't do nothing, then Brazil WILL become like Mexico, where cartels have more money than the goverment

That's just scary. But, you are right, no country is completely dangerous in my opinion. There are certain pockets where these gangs and anti-social elements operate from. Those are the most dangerous. In India too, we had certain pockets ruled by these gangsters and mobsters. But, in most cases, leadership change alone fixed that issue to a very high extent.
Killing 500+ people just because of their leader's transfer, causing collateral damage to civillians in the process as well, is just sad. I had a talk about the Mexican gangs with FrankZ on the BF thread, after I watched Sicario, the movie. He said the gangs there usually don'tinvolve the civillians, to avoid any damage to them. They even ask em to go inside their homes before something is about to go down.
And, as for the Salvadorian policy, might be a bit harder to implement in Brazil just due to the sheer population and geographical size difference between Salvadore and Brazil. Let's hope for a better and safer future.

yeah that's the problem. But Brazil could at least do some harsh policies like invading favelas and forcing the drug dealers out (arresting or ... them)
