    Right anyway, good night chaps.

My for me to crawl into my freezing cold bed, sans jumper, and freeze to death tonight. Last night it was -5 degrees. That's "damn cold" in US units.

May you be saved very soon by a RackNerd sweater. BTW, you do know that the sweaters are usually US only right?

That's OK, I'm pretty fat so a US-sized sweater works for me.

Not the size, the shipping. So, you will have to pay for shipping from US to UK. But sometimes, there are international GAs on merch as well. So, hope for the best.

That seems a little mean. Giving away thousands of dollars in a TV prize, and probably paying a ton to ship it somewhere, but he can't even stick my sweater in a jiffy bag and post it for a buck or two. A jumper's what, 400g maximum? That's about 14.832163 ounces in US units.

Mean? I don't know. Shipping international comes with a lot of headache when it comes to customs clearance. RackNerd being a US-based company, makes sense for them to ship most merch only to US. If they were to single out certain regions they would ship to, for example, UK, it'd be kinda disappointing to someone, say in Brazil.
Anyways, as I already said, Dustin is generous enough to throw international GAs on merch at times. If not, pretty sure you can shell out a buck or two for your precious sweater, right?

Sure, but it's easy to ship to the UK. Not really relevant if Brazil makes it hard to import sweaters, because he only needs to send the sweater to the UK. simples.

Unfair, in any case. Why not just spend the buck or two yourself though? Again, there are international giveaways, so, this discussion might just be futile altogether.

How's it unfair? Nobody in Brazil is going to win anyway?

But a buck? Sure, I'd buy that for a dollar.

We got @DeusVult from Brazil. And, he has chances of winning the sweater as much as you do.

Anyways, since you are ready to spend the dolalr incase it isn't international, that's settled then.

I haven't even once seen him pipe up and say he wants my sweater.

Doesn't he want the TV anyway?

Believe it or not, Ben wants the TV.

Believe it or not, everyone wants the TV, almost like, a competition. :p

I am going for the PS5. While the 75 inch TV is definitely something I'd love to go for, I can't get it here. The PS5 on the other hand has better chances.

Do you think you have a way to get the ps5 out there, or looking like you are going to get credits? Have someone you can ship too or maybe just planning on paying the import fees/taxes?

Not gonna import it directly in any case. A gaming PC is tough to transport, but, the PS5, my friend in the US can easily bring to India.

nice! Maybe you can help trk or xpress if they want to do the telly for lappy trade too and they are unable to find a way to get the lappy brought back

TrK needs no help in that department. He is a pro at bringing stuff from US into India.

Believe it or not, Ben wants the TV.

    Doesn't he want the laptop?

Forget the rankings presently, he did say he's aiming for the TV and like you want the sweater, he desperately needs the TV. Ig, he is just trying to stay on the top to atleast end up in the 3rd spot.

Yeah i mostly ended up here by chance because noob was going ps5 and trk and xpress gunning for the lappy. If all 3 of them got up there, i'd get pushed out of the TV by default. That gave me the wonderful idea of just try to win the laptop myself and trade it with whomever lands in the Telly slot

Chances of anyone overtaking you at this point seems virtually impossible. But, I'd still have my head on a shovel.

A SHOVEL!? Do you mean a swivel ;) Im ok if you pass me. Ultimately my worry is whether i land in slot 3 or not.. Well.. If you pass me.. The only worry i have in that case is that I end up with a ps5 that I would utilize even less than a lappy xD

Dont worry. I am not gonna pass you. But, that's only because of the promise in my signature. And, yes, I meant a swivel. I woke up pretty early in the morning. So, can't say I am at a 100% yet. Pardon me.

np! just poking at the typo ;) as long as the telly is still within my grasp i will be at peace with the world :)

So that's probably the hardest part. Not looking at tackling that one. Just want to see some basic stats. I think I'll have the full thing minus stats ready to go tonight and I'll dump it somewhere people can grab it.

It has two modes of processing.. database posts and then analyze after with a separate app by reading the DB, or download posts and analyze inline while using it as a library.

The first option seems better because you don't have to keep re grabbing the data if you need new stats.

I'm not even going to think about handling edit posts though...

  • I'm also not going to attempt to make this a proper python lib.. Just copy paste the code and hack it up if you want to use it

  • Btw up to 6,180 notifications! How is @SillyGoose doing? I know they were pretty high up there as well. Been forgetting to tag them

  • Anyone know if I buy a 2.5GB vps now, can they move it to LA for free when inventory opens up?

RackNerd does allow changing nodes incase of any issue, not sure of the DC/location though.

I've used redis for non persistent storage in the past.. does it give persistent store? I actually cant recall/not aware.

Yah, you can set the duration yourself. Shoudln't be an issue for this one, as Ed's script currently refreshes data every 5 minutes.

    Ah very cool! Thanks!

The way mine works is you configure a min and max refresh timeout. When it pulls the data down, it'll throttle itself by a random amount of seconds between min and max and hit the end point after that throttle expires.

It will do this page by page so..

if last processed page = 0, then it hits page 1 after throttling itself. If all 30 posts are there. It will parse all posts. If all 30 are not there, it'll refresh that same page on the throttle until it gets all 30 but parsing each new post as it appears on a refresh. Anytime it finds new data (basically a post) it'll update the state of where its at so you never need to come back to that post again.

I intend to throttle it very very slowly.. It can run overnight and its not critical

Also, found this now on your recommendation

Redis offers several methods to sync data to disk for persistence. The primary methods are RDB (Redis Database) persistence and AOF (Append Only File) persistence.

RDB Persistence: This method performs point-in-time snapshots of the dataset at specified intervals. RDB files are compact and suitable for backups and disaster recovery. However, it may result in data loss if Redis stops working without a proper shutdown, as the latest data might not be saved.
AOF Persistence: This method logs every write operation received by the server. These logs can be replayed to reconstruct the dataset at server startup. AOF persistence is more durable and can be configured with different fsync policies to balance between performance and data safety.
