I resisted my urge for putting any bold text in my responses so far.
I'm trying to stay calm, but this whole thing is making me feel a bit uneasy. Are you an official representative of HH?
You're pretty good, making me wonder if there's something wrong with my understanding.
After you showed up and spoke I started to think about quitting the LET forum.
No I am not.
I am a HH customer for two+ years and soon will complete three year mark.
Let me rephrase my question.
With that disk I/O, what use case not working in your case? May be I am missing something here.
ps — @Freek , assume that I have put a bold mark around “not working” part.
I don't understand the problem.
You can't get a refund from HH as the terms in the offer description explicitly state that refunds are not offered for this service. Also, as everybody else agrees, there's no problem with the service. The only problem is with your expectations of a VPS on a shared node.
You either want the server or you don't.
If you want to keep the server, why are you still here complaining about it?
If you don't want the server, why don't you want to sell it to someone who wants it? You'll get your money back and someone else gets to enjoy the server.
How about this: I'm going to post the resale thread and see how it turns out, okay?
Did you try same MySQL database server setup in another VPS for comparative analysis?
If you can send me mysql setup and details, I can run some tests (later today) , if that helps.
As you mocked the result I gave you after I run the YABS again per your request, and you are not an official from HH nor do I know you, I kindly ask you to back off.
I did not “mock” your YABS result. Almost everyone agrees, in this thread, that disk i/o performance is non-issue. Do you think everyone is “mocking” your YABS disk I/O result?
No one who has replied is an HH representative
I shared my observation and comments. And my comments were in line with what others are telling you.
No more reply from me.
Thank you for no more replying.
As I was saying before:
Post like this are also popularizing relevant knowledge to consumers, aren't they? However, with this experience, I know that I need to hide the provider's name in the future, that would make things much easier for everyone.
Hiding the providers name would not make a difference. Do you think people disagree with you just because it's HostHatch? Let me reassure you, HostHatch is very often criticized here, there are a lot of threads complaining about HH but even the people that usually complains about HH is arguing against you here.
TLDR;
You buy a product that clearly states "no refunds".
The provider provides the product well within specifications, but you don't like it and want a refund.
Do you seriously expect people to take your side here?
Chargeback yesterday - @cybertech
I have explained this. My understanding of HH product specifications is based on the promotional VPSs I have purchased and used on HH before. That's why I keep buying promotional VPSs from HH.
I would say based on the feedback received .. best course of action is don't be a whiny bitch and move on.
Lads can you pass me the popcorn please?
You know what? If this happened to someone else, I'm sure I would reply like this: Keep moving, you'll get much more than $35.
Things are different now. Maybe it’s because of my own experience, maybe it’s because there are fewer things that make people feel optimistic and positive. But what I'm sure of is that it's not because of the $35, it's because we don't think about the rationality of things the way we used to because we ourselves are not treated equally.
And yes, I am the whiny bitch.
From what I have seen and heard on the LET, I am sure that many providers also feel that business is getting harder and harder, doing more work than before, but the profits/reputation/emotional value is far less than before. So, can we discuss the simplest question: when the so-called "Standard/Disclaimer" cannot be achieved, do we have other choices for each other.
You are forgetting one crucial aspect. Acquaintances.
Many people here knows HH personally so their issues are resolved rather quick. You are a new user with promotional plan so you'll be at the bottom of the ladder. The vocal group will try to make it as your fault regardless whether you are the culprit or the victim. That's what it feels like when you see the whole drama from a distance.
Coming back to the thread, this is one instance where I won't criticise HH though. All servers are not equipped to handle everything. Unless it's not working as advertised, I won't blame HH for this though.
@ralf I recently learned in this forum that even NVMe, if they are connected over SAN like infrastructure, there could be drop in speed. Yes, the VPS in shared infrastructure, 1.1 GB is still a great speed.
Yeah, 1.1GB/s is maxing out a 10Gbit network connection if it is SAN.
If it was in the EU with those specs I would have happily given you an extra premium to take the VPS off your hands, but sadly Japan has too much latency to Sweden.
That's a bit too conspiratorial. I'm a nobody lurker who snagged a 2023 BF deal from here with no prior knowledge of HH. Of the two tickets I put in (IPv6 issue, requesting outgoing SMTP), both were resolved within 3 hours, which honestly kind of baffled me considering what I'd read about HH's support on this forum and from the original HH post itself.
I'm assuming I just got lucky and put in my tickets during low support volume times and is in no way representative. But I think the larger takeaway is to remember that like most public feedback spaces, most of the people who had positive experiences have likely already fucked off to go do other things instead of sticking around to shitpost on LET.
I'm only here this month out of curiosity on the provisioning slowness leading to a middling interest in the surrounding dramaposting for entertainment purposes 🤣
I was the one who replied to you in that thread, and my replies included a number of tips that were repeated in this one.
I was trying to be helpful when I suggested that you request a migration to a new node, and I was glad to see that HostHatch offered that option proactively. I understand that $15 may be a lot compared to your server cost, but I still think it's worthwhile to consider.
Ask them to limit your other vps and then you'll have them with equal performance.
Expected range, everybody get promo price and dump swap ram on it, bet most not even using zswap.
I honestly don't know where you get that impression, and it seems like a bit of a cheap shot. I haven't seen posts indicating that a personal connection with the owner might result in better service. (I'm not saying it can't happen -- I just don't see evidence of it.)
Having said that, plenty of businesses discriminate among clients depending on their profitability. Airlines are well known for this, providing top-tier members of their loyalty programs with greatly enhanced service and perks. It's why I stick with one airline alliance when at all possible.
In another topic, I recall one LET member mentioned he spends around $5000 per month on HostHatch for production workloads. If I were that customer, I would definitely expect some priority handling, so it's no surprise he's super happy with service.
No sir. You have. Strike 2.
HH prem
this is a very serious allegation. can you back it up with evidence
