Love the KS lineup for storing my linux ISOs
Corrected your typo.
Thank you, I'm not sure how I botched that so badly.
More than welcome.
Any location. 25 dollars yearly max
If you look around, that's attainable. If just storage, there are natvps offers available. I think I'm paying 5/y for 500GB ipv6 vm.
I need to be more open to using ipv6 only VMs, I run it all on a tailscale network anyway, so who really needs ipv4?
IPV4 only. Can you give me a link?
I really dont like to use ipv6 but when it comes to storage I don't mind. Ips are costly, using a nat vm brings cost down significantly.
Don't have one ay hand (so many offers!) if I see one I'll tag you.
Ok thanks!
Using a budget VPS that has an IPv4 address with all the IPv6 storage connected via tailscale/wireguard is a viable solution.
Looking forward to a great 2025 for RackNerd!
That's actually a pretty good idea. Have plenty is space to use.
I want one to use Jellyfin. That's why it's harder for me
I have good ideas occasionally, but I normally save them for things that make me money.
Snag a budget VPS from RackNerd as the front end, and then use something like OVH/Kimsufi/Pulsedmedia/Servarica/heck even Google Drive, as your storage.
Just remember to keep backups, no matter who you use.
Sup buddies?
Just chillin'
Helloooo broo
Hey, I was thinking of using a remote RackNerd server for running Jellyfin while a SATA drive on my home PC will act as the storage. I know this is unwantedly complicated, but this way I believe trh RackNerd server would act as a good transcoder while I can easily wokr with my media files. WDYT?
Hey dude, keep going like you are right now. Trust me, you will not regret this.
So, this is the time you are usually around. Always a pleasure chatting with you while learning a thing or two.
Hey @Saragoldfarb a warm welcome to the RN thread.
This is actually a really good idea, and having a home server myself I have considered doing so.
Thanks. Not sure I'll stick around though..not many deals. @dustinc looks sexy though.
Stick around, maybe he'll give you a special deal.
Well it's a good idea then. Thank you for confirming. So, how would you setup the home server? Tailscale?
Hang around. We do have giveaways from time to time.
