Hetzner is good for dedicated servers. For their VPS, I use it for quick deploy to test stuff around due to their flexible pricing. I recently started using netcup and so far I'm satisfied.
OVH is best for DDoS protection but their "ID verification" is worst among all 3. And their non-helpful and long support makes it worse for company their size.
OVH's DDoS protection is good for standalone stuff. Unless you have your entire stack on OVH network, using it will be useless. Their "edge firewall" rules don't work for whitelisting certain IPs.
Yes, stable and reliable but if you want avoid outages suggested way is HA system where the load balanced and if a server goes down others continue to serve the requests.
Hetzner ...
Do you use load balancing? What's your setup like?
Why not Netcup?
I heard that Netcup DDoS protection is useless.
Never used them. Have good experience and don't want to multiple providers invoices
Dumbass. If they sell unmetered bandwidth, its not a valid reason to terminate or limit you. fuck hetzner.
Thanks, argument well made, smart... You don't seem to understand that someone using too much bandwidth is impacting other users and degrading their service on the same platform.
Are you naive enough to still buy the "unlimited" bandwidth, "unlimited" minutes etc.
With dedicated servers, yes. Especially when the support confirms it.
guys be kind life's short
I will say though that from every metric measurable, Hetzner looks like they actually care a lot more than OVH does. Less bugs and less weirdness overall. Both solid hardware and decent stability.
Netcup Root Servers are great actually for performance at reasonable price.
Otherwise I took advantage of limited time offers by MassiveGRID, aside from last weekend downtime, they have a very cheap offer, with a great AntiDDoS suitable for gaming and general hosting
How about Netcup RS and Hetzner VDS in comparison?
The RS of Netcup dropping everywhere when we speak of Single Core Performance
I got Amsterdam RS when they released, got the promo
GB6 SingleCore could top up 2100
Now ..... LOL ... Dropping to 1900
I am seeing Dedicated Core that oversell here
I am thinking of the impossibility of selling 16 cores to 16 customers only.
I am thinking of selling 16 cores to 32 customers or even 64 customers
And hoping all the customers idling for 0% for the rest of 24hour x 30 days
Netcup Network - the best in speed
Netcup Anexia - BGP Check - the best from ASIA
Netcup third party Finance check - the a$$
Netcup Support - Too slow - Too cute to be Professional
I believed Money$ will equal
Hetzner is expensive,
but I am seeing High Quality Performance
Thank you! riomartin.
Not sure, I don't use Hetzner because I don't like to give out my ID
best part of hetzner is scale up and down in 1-2 mins (yep give id is danger but i will do legal things in hetzner)
ovh have too many services, they like AWS
netcup have setup fee, i don't like that
Anyone know the uptime of netcup arm vps?
I heard RS is good but for VPS it shows on website minimum uptime guarantee is only 99.6%
I personally use Hetzner and Netcup They are both very good with almost no downtimes...no idea about OVH.
RS has no setup fee.
OVH wins for cheap bare metal hardware, but their VPS options are extremely non-competitive. Too little for too much. They're ideal when you want to have a cheap bare metal for any reason.
Hetzner wins for a great and responsive UI and fast drives, making it exceptionally easy and snappy to deploy temporary VPSes for a few hours. I haven't tried their bare metal servers but people often praise them, they even order custom motherboards meant for customer hardware but adapted to sit well in the racks, how cool is that?
I haven't touched Netcup much. They seem to be winning over Hetzner by the performance/dollar ratio but subjectively feel a little slower than Hetzner's. Personally I'd choose them for long-term projects.
I'm happily using all of them. At one point you start seeing which fits your project the most and then choose accordingly.
Are they in Europe as well?
OVH and Scaleway also design their own motherboards.
Netcup rs is great.
After using all 3, I will say Hetzner or OVH for any production environments. Nectup private lan offers 100mbits speed for free, which cannot be used for any production workloads.
Thx~
Netcup RS?
They only give 100 mbits for private network, if you want more its paid. I don't know without private network how some one can setup some db clusters, search clusters etc.
BTW, what's the private network speed on Hetzner Cloud? 1gbps?
yeah but the 100mbit are free of charge. if you need more bandwidth on a private vlan between your virtual machines then book a faster one and pay for it.
I mean, what are you complaining about ? Other companies don't even offer a private vlan at all. most people will be fine with 100mbit private network between their own machines.
But if needed you can book i think up to 2.5gbit/s private vlan. i'm not sure. the 100mbit is enough for the traffic between my 3 virtual servers.
