Am I allowed to buy stock?
Talk to pony.

When's BuyVM's IPO?
@Francisco That sucks. I would only need power and like less than 1TB bandwidth.
16G RAM (the 24G boxes are sold to someone else)
dual quad L5420 CPU's
4 bay hotswaps
riser card & rails included
4 x 500G samsungs
How much power do these use?
Yea They're close to 2A.
Francisco
@DotVPS I would like a /29, but I really only need 1 or 2 IPs.
Siri cannot find any petting zoos in my area.
You're too high-maintenance for us.
Can you put my name down for the server as well?
@Francisco @Aldryic storage VPS?
@DotVPS the only problem is that it is FDC.
@Francisco - those servers that you're getting rid of have any graphics capabilities? And do you end up selling these sorts of things frequently?
'cause honestly, I'd happily buy one just to use as a desktop PC :P
I hate having to scroll down to see replies to this. Stupid Offers auto-sinking thing.
Nah they're servers.
Lots of people use WSI?
Francisco
I would say too many people do.
ิ(・ω・)/ ิ Hope to see some storage plans soon.
Kudos to @Francisco / BuyVM for coming up with a realistic and reasonable plan and TOS/AUP for TOR. Thank you!
Thanks
If anything, it's more than reasonable since most 'TOR allowed' VPS companies don't provide SWIP.
There should be one pci-e x16 slot on the board though. You'd have to get a new PSU, and probably a case.
I'm curious why BuyVM is allowing TOR now.
It can't be because they don't have enough customers. Or that they've priced the TOR service so that they're going to make a killing. I mean, if 50 people sign up for it, that's not exactly big bucks...and I would guess that simply offering more VPSes would make more money.
Why deal with the administrative headaches?
Sounds like a lot of work...all so a bunch of people can pass kiddie porn around. (Yeah, yeah, brave underground political freedom fighters struggling under the hobnailed boot of censorship blah blah - give me a break.)
Dunno, but if the people want to host a tor node, the requirements are big.
@Aldryic or @Francisco If you get Ddos protection, why do you need a /29? How does that work? Do you become your own provider with own ip space? (Although small ip space)
I think thats for the TOR stuff, not the DDoS protection.
Correcto.
If you simply need the filtering you can buy a single IP.
Francisco
Great thread and bold move. I mean, what we were talking about here in the last 2 months was not wasted, in the end, everyone benefits, there is no need to make up false arguments and propaganda, honest talk and there can be solutions
I agree there should be a premium paid for "risky" services, hence the DDoS protection, I also agree the providers should not put up with the automated abuse complaints because ppl set up wide open exit nodes and it is a small price to pay.
From what I understood:
1. You can buy one by one "filtered" IPs for DDoS protection;
2. If you want to run Tor EXIT nodes you need to get your own /29 and get listed at abuse and/or admin section;
3. Non-Exit nodes are allowed on any plan.
All nice and dandy, I never hoped to see this, especially from Aldryic and Co and I humbly ask them to accept my apologies for the "somewhat" abrasive discussions we had.
However, I have a few questions:
1. All the VPS-es that use the 5 usable IPs for Tor nodes have to be of same type (OpenVZ, KVM) and on same node/same DC ?
2. Will you even allow them to be used on more than one container ? If only one container is allowed, can we buy more BW on the plan ? Willing to give up other features AND pay more for BW...
I am asking because I always tried to keep my nodes in different datacenters and even different countries (lately concentrating on EU). It may not be possible (tho there are some tricks for that). How much will the /29 cost ? I mean, for this plan:
BuyVm6 8 100GB 3GB 4GB 20TB 5 $30/m, do I get the SWIP for free or do I have to buy 5 more IPs ? While that money is not cheap for me alone, we are more ppl polling money together for this and will be very convenient given the conditions and we can also run other things on it since Tor doesnt use much else than BW.
M
I'll accept that but the TOR discussion was a good one to get out there
@Aldryic will have to ring in on this one. I don't see it being an issue to allow VM's to share the IP pool. Additional IP's would have to be purchased in /29's with abuse handles provided.
$5/m. You're paying for 5 usable IP's, we'll eat the 3 network related addresses.
You'd get a primary IP and then the additional /29 so just tack $5/m ontop of whatever plan you decide you want. Our admin time to apply the SWIP is at no cost, you're just required to have a handle at ARIN. We can register you a handle if you don't have one, just it's easier for us if you do it
That sound reasonable?
Francisco
Yes, but then I have this problem:
I buy a regular plan and get a /29. I would like more BW with it. Is that possible ? Sure, at extra cost.
Or get more VPS-es and share the same /29
I didnt understand that one
M
Or get more VPS-es and share the same /29
