Wait, so you're only releasing 25 128mb plans, 20 256mb, etc on Friday?

  • @NickM - since it's private, and wouldn't be hosting or relaying through, it's fine. We never had a problem with folks connecting to Tor, we just didn't want the nodes on our network prior to this :3

Correct. Then come Monday, another batch of 25, etc etc. We tend to get bombarded during sales, so releasing stock in small doses helps everything go smoothly. It also gives more people a chance to get a plan, rather than everyone having to moshpit all at the same time.

@Aldryic, Thanks :) I was hoping that you'd split the KVM stock up too like you're doing with OpenVZ... guess I'm going to have to stay up to get one.

  • @Aldryic said: so releasing stock in small doses helps everything go smoothly.

Or it will make your billiing panel go down twice a week :D

That's yet to be determined, honestly. @Francisco and Anthony are still auditing and planning out KVM. Care to chime in on that one, boss? :P

Haha. True enough... but it's just something we have to roll with :3

  • What are the node specs?

If you don't want to give you that info, maybe just tell the CPU specs? ;)

  • Most of the KVMs have been moved to the E3s now from what I understand.

    KVM nodes
    - XEON E3 1230's
    - 32GB super talent RAM
    - Adaptec 2405's w/ either 4x 1.5TB drives or 4 x 2TB drives in a RAID 10
    - debian wheezy HN OS so we get access to the latest/greatest KVM/kernel improvements
    - additional internal tweaks & improvements

    OpenVZ nodes
    - Dual Quad XEON (E|L)5520's
    - 48GB RAM
    - Adaptec (5805|6805) 512MB 8 drive RAID 10 cards
    - 8 x 1.5TB drives (seagate or hitachi)
    - debian squeeze based OS. 2.6.18 based kernel for the time being but we're fully ready for 2.6.32 w/o potential userland issues.

We got 3 nodes left and those are getting done this weekend. :)

  • So is it $3 for 5 IPs with the filtering? Or is $3 * 5 or 8?

@Francisco, will you guys be doing this regularly now?

I think BuyVM having stock is not only good for BuyVM but good for any potential client of any potential provider because it forces the competition to rethink how they do business and maybe someday there will be more non-deadpooling providers with the same prices and features of BuyVM.

All it took was Tony Stark to make that little gizmo in that cave and suddenly everyone is flying around in robotic suits with glowy spots on them. You see how this works.

@yomero @Fransisco Yeah, I run Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force and we've just had to switch providers (to a dedicated gameserver provider) for exactly these issues. Glad things are working out for you - it's a real crapsack.

And kudos on the DDOS protection!

    5 * $3/month.

@DotVPS said: You don't waste time do you O_o

We try to nail things out quickly :) I did 3 - 4 KVM nodes in a single night. I threw on some 'hardcore pawn' for entertainment and chewed through it with Matt.

We're still working out the details. Since an east coast location is kinda a bust due to gorack being a bunch of pansy's, i'm looking for new/fun ideas to work on. The filtering was an idea from a long time ago that we never completed.

  • What about bandwidth? Still the same as the package!?

It seems like you could eat through it with this setup.

  • @Aldryic said: Clients wanting to run a TOR node or private site MUST acquire a /29 from us, and have the IPs SWIP'd into their name before starting the service.

Clients must handle any and all abuse complaints from the TOR activities.

This is valid only for exit nodes or also for middle nodes?

  • @Fransisco what have you guys been doing with the old boards/proc's?

VM's are given filtered traffic only and you're billed at the node, not at the filtering box. You could have a gig of UDP coming at you and you'd see none of it on ifstat.

Exit's only :) middle nodes are no issue.

@Kairus said: @Fransisco what have you guys been doing with the old boards/proc's?

They've been going up for sale on ebay, etc. I got another 3 we'll put up for sale soon for probably $450/ea with 4 x 500G drives included.

    @liam said: IRC or?

Just about any sort of flood, period. They gave @kujoe a hard time because he 'may' have seen a flood, but he never did. We have our autonull but i'm fairly sure they'd still hate it.

    Thanked by 1Steve81
  • @Francisco that is pretty awesome.

    Great, thank you.

@DotVPS said: PM me a link when you've listed them :).

I can do private sales, i'd prefer to not do ebay at all.

If I find a private buyer ill probably sell them for $400/ea instead of dealing with ebay fee's.

  • Can I buy one?
