Black Friday Rootservers will be offered on Thursday, and his comment is about the VPS performance. How is his comment a rant or unrelated, unlike yours?
What's wrong with this comment lol
Thread is about BF deal page, referring to RootServers page is unrelated rant.
Cores can't be pseudo-dedicated if there was no claim they are dedicated.
His comment is about VPS YABS above - it's on offer now, on the BF page.
If anyone is triggered by my post, I can not control his being triggered/upset. It is entirely his problem
And I don’t care no what matter what you post
@egoror You have been warned.
Thank you @Arkas
Gotcha
Thank you.
lol why do you think I'd do that?
5 hours to go? The deal will expire in 5 hours(or howmuchever is left).
The one I have has much better results and an Nvme 500GB drive, but costs twice as much. I'll keep it, and see what they offer on Thursday. Netcup is also very reliable for those who are thinking for production purposes, although I want to test mine for a longer period before hosting mission critical sites on it.
dunno, some kind of gut feeling ;-)
sorry, no offense meant by that!
I bought a VPS 1000 G11 SE BW24 for myself.
They have delivered the server, but they haven’t created an invoice yet. I assume that, as an existing customer, I’ll receive the invoice at the end of the month with payment on my regular billing date (13.), but I’m not sure.
A two-week credit period is always nice.

Can you please check if the cpu kind is EPYC 9634?
G11 - 1.54 Euro first month. 5.75 recurring. Germany
Is there any limit in the cpu usage of their vps line? Supposedly you can smash the cpu of their Root line 24/7 but what happens if you try to do that with their Vps?
I'm doing something with ai and i kind of prefer to smash the cpu all day instead of limit my usage to x% per hour (if possible).
Their terms and conditions say this:
"Running server services that cause a particularly high CPU load; this does not apply in the case of dedicated server and virtual servers."
Technically a vps is a virtual server, so i don't really know if they throttle or what they actually do if you use the cpu 100% 24/7.
I think they mask the exact CPU model from the hypervisor. All it shows "AMD EPYC-Rome". lscpu, cat /proc/cpuinfo and neofetch as well
Interesting that there is some kind of node lottery going on...
That's what makes me think that their VPS line is pretty good, perf can be really close to the one of a RS, and as RS cores aren't really dedicated anyway, the (not so small!) price difference is only worth it if your workload implies hammering all cores all day long...
In the past you would get the invoice one or two days after order and provisioning.
Now that they changed everything to an individual billing day for each client, I would expect that invoice to appear on that date and be due for payment immediately.
Not had any service being due since the change though, so we'll see how this is supposed to work. Feels a lot like imitating Hetzner here.
The only information about the CPU is: CPU: AMD EPYC-Milan @ 4x 2,246GHz
Could be a 9634 given the frequency, indeed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epyc#Third_generation_Epyc_(Milan))
Usually their VPS line is not even close to the RS for CPU performance (or at least not consistently). My fear is that here also, it'll start good and then drop off.
The RS line up has pretty consistent performance (and usually much better for the same vCPU cores) compared to the equivalent VPS line up (which can vary and also tends to drop over time). Some of this is because they also expose much more (cpu) flags (though not even close to everything) on the RS line up and this does result in improvements in performance (not just for benchmarking!).
The more recent nodes (the Milan ones?) are likely not full yet, and it's possible that performance won't be as good in a few weeks. But if there are no noisy neighbours, performance can stay as it is / close.
It's clear that the performance of the root servers is more predictable in the long run, but price difference isn't insignificant, and in some cases a VPS costing a bit less will have more cores and more power than a RS, even with a fully loaded node...
(My VPSes with Netcup, while never giving the same geekbench results than the Milan one of the current deal - but they are on older hardware ! - have been really stable CPU wise).
1 hour left, Manassas 5.75 EUR still sold out. Any chance it comes back?
~~Locations are: VIE | NUE | MNZ
Can anyone tell me what these locations are?
Thanks!
~~
Found on checkout page! Sorry.
VIE = Vienna, Austria
NUE = Nuremberg, Germany
MNZ = Manassas, USA
What about the disk performance? Does it drop off a lot too?
No. Disk and network is usually pretty solid and in general Netcup products are very stable.
In the announcement it was somewhere, that all deals of this week will be available again on BF and maybe CM, so probably you want to watch that closely and keep german timezone on your mind. Usually things are available quite early in the morning.
The deal page says "Additional discount for VIE or NUE" but the price I see is the same for all 3 locations? Did I miss anything?
