    Private Torrent allow?

can you please tell me how you did it?

Using SFTP app for Windows. It is free for personal use and seems like not very restricted. You can also pair it with Cryptomator to encrypt files.

sh*t does not work on windows server

  • Just asking casual @labze
will your domain, services will be active for next 10-30 years?
I want to use storage vps for storing my personal documents,IMG&videos 😃

Use it as a backup, not main storage. Store your main stuff locally on a cheap NAS or something, then replicate it 1x on hostbrr, 1x at your parents home, using something like restic

  • @hyperblast Why don't you use SSHFS then? Install WinFsp and SSHFS-Win (as an extra you can use SSHFS-Win Manager with a GUI to manage your connections using SSH keys, autoboot settings etc)

@labze i saw it asked a few times. is borg supported on the DA storage box?

Yes, Borg 1.2.4 is installed. However it is not the current stable version.

  • I'm using storage with rclone ftp and it works flawlessly.

  • ordered a second storagebox

  • what's wrong with this solution? it works well and is less fiddly.

I actually tried WinFSP+SSHFS but was constantly getting access denied with my credentials, do you know by any chance how to fix it? I tried creating different FTP users but with no result.

    Try AirLiveDrive

    Thanked by 1hyperblast
  • What did you enter for username\password? I am getting access denied all the time, used my SSH credentials, used FTP credentials, no luck.

i used the username and password that hostbrr send to me. did not setup the domain. only use the ip and suggestet portnumber.

    use proper SSH Port.

  • @hyperblast said: but maximum fiddly.

Hardly any complexity at all, 1 minute setup.

I wonder if quotas are set at all.

How to setup borg 1.4.0 on the DirectAdmin Storage plan:

    • login via ssh
    • get the latest release from https://github.com/borgbackup/borg/releases, the 1.4.0 borg-linux-glibc236 works for me. Unfortunately, LET security does not allow me to post the link here so you'll have to figure it out yourself.
    • add the location of the binary to your bash PATH (IIRC the default PATH variable has only locations under /usr, which are obviously not writeable)
    • Have a private/public key pair handy and add the public key to DirectAdmin
    • On your machine, run borg init --encryption=repokey-blake2 ssh://YOUR_DIRECTADMIN_USERNAME@THE_DIRECTADMIN_IP_ADDRESS:YOUR_SSH_PORT/~/backups/grandmasrecipes

That's it. Minor details like execute bit, setting up the PATH and creating directories are left as an exercise to the reader.

Interestingly enough, I also have the 100GB Webspace plan from HostBRR, but on that one borg does not run due to deep problems with glibc and the borg embedded python lib.

When I try to map the network drive, there is no port option, do I need any extra app for this?

    Haha..

Nobody can really predict 100% what happens Tomo!

    Enjoy the moment!

But @labze is a responsible host, if any happens, he will let us know before.

I'm personally using SSHFS-Win Manager to manage a bunch of mapped drives. There is an option for the port number on it. Otherwise you can follow this tutorial and should be able to append port number like this \\sshfs[.option]\[remote user]@[remote host][!port][\path]:
