We will give a trye to VIRT... whatever, Let's see how that will work.

Still, that hostbill is not that expensive.......

WHMCS @ 5K customers will cost you much more ( even @ 2.5K ) - I am definitely looking into it.

Guys, this was a nice read, thank you, now back to the drawing board...

At the recent mspglobal I saw Upmind project, seems promising.

I'm interested to hear, any reason why? Bad experience in the past?

  • holy moly 20% increase

No experience so far but since anyone does it have the key of your business-- you don't run that business anymore.

Revolut Business can now offer you the chance to Invoicing your customers-- even doing a recurring invoice, and most of people got locked out by them, what they can do now?

Fortunately, we have a complete product suite from local IDC software company to choose from. They provide everything from the virtualization system to the business system, all from one company, and at a lower price.

    Which company?

    Hi,

well... WHMCS is trying hard to motivate us to change too... 2 biggest burners in the last 2 weeks:

    1)
Estonian VAT was changed by government in january 2024 and is still wrong by now for the latest WHMCS version

    their comment:

    Dear Oliver,

Thanks for reaching out to WHMCS Support. I'd be glad to help you with this.

We are aware that the VAT rate has changed in Estonia, and have case #CORE-19488 opened with our Development accordingly to have this addressed.

Though I can't provide an ETA on when this will be implemented, you'll find the above case ID quoted in our changelog when this occurs:
    https://changelog.whmcs.com/

In the meantime, you can update the tax rule manually via System Settings > Tax Configuration to reflect the new VAT rate.

... but good that we had not introduced site builder or what ever cool feature... .... ....

    2)

In their new paypal integration they removed the feature that the module will check if the data in paypal are identical with the data provided in WHMCS database by the customer.

So they actually removed a security feature to prevent fraud...

    Their comment on that:

    Hi Oliver,

Thanks for getting in touch with WHMCS.

The new PayPal module uses a different integration method with PayPal, and therefore certain options may differ between modules. Unfortunately the "Client Address Matching" is not an option within the new module.

However, if you would like to suggest that this is investigated as a possible feature on this new module, please visit our request site at https://requests.whmcs.com . With our feature requests site our developers can see what our clients are requesting and will consider whether it is useful for WHMCS as a whole.

If you are experiencing fraud, I would suggest enabling one of our supported fraud modules to help with that situation.

    https://docs.whmcs.com/orders/fraud-protection/

If you need assistance with anything else please do not hesitate to contact us.

I mean aside of cost and features and bla...

A company that provides a billing software should have more responsibility to maintain the absolute core features that customer will expect from a billing software.

But it seems lately they love to integrate new modules and features to extend sales but stopped taking proper care of the real important topics

    -- generating correct/compliant invoices
-- maintaining / improving payment modules

If you cant rely anymore on a critical core infrastructure software wise then obviously you have to change it...

@layer7 WHMCS are easily to customize, most people are still choosing them because is the most common software in-use for ages. You forgot something special, if you perform refunds your customer get a free month (or a year) of a service. That bug it wasnt resolved for months since I reported it and also it was discovered on their main website where we got a free month. :-)

I don't get how Hostbill doesn't get more customers, their product is quite solid and has a lot of plugins included. The pricing is clear, you invest one time and then you pay the maintainance fee which is quite reasonable.
You have to pay for support tickets but that sounds like the best option, why pay monthly for "support" that is non existent at whmcs. Hostbill you pay per ticket but you have a real followup.
Also they keep on adding features all the time.

    Do you use HostBill?

At least 5 years ago, I helped a company switch to HostBill and realised how much more money than expected you can spend if you don't inform yourself well in advance.
I would be interested to know whether this is a typical problem or whether it was due to the specifics of the project.

Yes we use Hostbill, not for the bulk of our customers yet as the customer interface is still a problem.
But we have many features active on our setup (DirectAdmin / Proxmox / Openprovider / Stripe / Paypal) and all works fine.

Regarding the ticket fee, honestly, I prefer to pay 100$ / ticket and have a good follow up and a grood price on the product than having free tickets, bad follow up of request and yearly 20% price increase.

Over 10 years,we must have less than 10 tickets at whmcs..

If Hostbill could invest in their user interface (both customer and admin), they would kick serious ass.

We’re using Blesta for all four of our brands, and we’ve had no issues. For any modules that needed adjustments or new ones created, We sponsored them and hired Aleksa from the official Blesta Discord. Everything has gone smoothly no issues.
