Awesome deal! I missed the last one, so really glad I managed to catch this one!

    What did you get?

5TB + 2TB in Stockholm. Quite timely as my backup set keeps bumping up against the 5TB I have elsewhere, so I've needed to start pruning the backups, and it's always good to have another redundant backup in any case.

The setup time is 10 working days (2 weeks). Most will get delivered much earlier.

Many, so it should be possible. It will cost a $10 setup fee per server, as I mentioned earlier.

    Says there's still time though.

@hosthatch - maybe extra time "straggler" time... there's a LOT of reading to do (and popcorn to eat) - I'm still trying to catch up on some missing $22.5K

We really do not like making exceptions for several reasons. Please wait for Black Friday as some of these deals will be available again then.

@Arirang said: I expected for US 8GB deals to come, but to not do. Wait for next deals.

On Black Friday we should have some. Was not possible this time around because we're running near capacity in most locations.

It's not actually a complaint about them.

Since I don't intend to run overly CPU-intensive programs, I wasn't too worried about this (because of previous good experiences in LA), but when Hosthatch made it clear I had some misgivings instead.

If I had known from the beginning what use cases were appropriate and what were not, I might have been more careful.

After all, I don't want to use it and find out that the CPU has additional limitations imposed on it.

Seriously considering the price per TB, that's actually a pretty generous offer. But it would be good for everyone if there was some clarity about the abuse policy.

If you did not have issues in the past, it is highly unlikely that you will run into issues now. We've upgraded new RAID10 nodes to CPUs that are twice as powerful. The reason for the fair-share vagueness is simple: if you have serious CPU usage, you will need to consider another NVMe Compute VM to offload that CPU usage.

I know many things have been suggested on how we should do things, but this is how we choose to do things at this time.

It should be within the delivery ETA. If there are any unexpected delays, we will let you know a few days in advance so you can plan accordingly.

    Thank you for responding.

Just out of curiosity, if you guys think that a storage VM is potentially using too many resources, do you do a speed limit, or do you just hang the server and wait for an explanation from the user?

Do you usually ask the user first, or do you penalize suspected abuse first?

I mean, yes, I respect your definition of the performance aspect of storage servers, however do you communicate with the user first when hit with possible abuse? How much time is available here to deal with the problem?

  • I have just received my Stockholm VPS, within the advertised ETA. I paid for 2 years so I got double RAM, storage and Bandwidth. Thanks !
