@layer7 your website shows DUS location with v6 plans only. Is there an option for v4 add-on?
Also, I see in your signature you are a RIPE LIR. Do you offer BGP sessions on your VPS?

    Hi,

the DUS location is for us basically just a backup location. Since we only need the storage capacity there, but not the compute capacity we sell the compute capacity quiet cheap.

We dont use our own IP space there. And the IPs of the datacenter are insanely expensive. We would have to charge 5 EUR / IPv4 which is just insane. So we wont do that.

    Sorry, IPv6 only....

And yes, theoretically we could also offer BGP sessions. But in most of the datacenters we do not route anymore ourself ( except FRA2 location ).
We did this in good old times where 1G uplinks on routers were state of the art with good old foundry big iron's sight

If you want now a BGP session we would have to give you one of/with the datacenter. Would make only sense if you have bigger traffic amounts or if you want a specific carrier to interconnect with.

But as cheap playground in your VPS, this is just not applicable...

So here, sorry again... just too fast away from our core business...

  • @layer7 have there been any recent changes to the annual payment method for the Ryzen Cloud Server 1Core-4GB-120GB FRA1? i had hoped that the sensationally good price might still be available for another year (recurring). :)

Thanks for the info. DUS had minimal latency to the asian locations I was interested so just was trying my shot.

What price do you refer to?

  • lukast__lukast__ Member, Megathread Squad

@layer7 said: What price do you refer to?

Likely the wrong discount. (They had ~50% discount for annual payment, which was wrong as it should have been 20%, and they corrected it a week ago.)

  • layer7layer7 Member, Host Rep, LIR

    Hi,

hrhrhr, well sorry, we cant give that kind of discounts on a regular base if we want to exist also tomorrow and the day after :p

We are always ready to give ( additional ) discounts. But maybe nothing feelable with the smallest plans.... the more you take, the more we can discount...

  • That's done, thank you! :)

  • @layer7 What is your CPU acceptable usage? Consider getting one to run Windows.

  • @layer7 Hi, do you have RAID on IPv6 VPS?

  • Yes I'm using layer7 mid CPU for game hosting it works fine

Using it since last BF sales, they had two times network outage (no electronic problems so the VM won't restart) but it's totally acceptable due to the price of it(2C8G w IPV4 for 11EUR/yr), I've been deploy some dockers in it and no issue with that, the uptime is already more than 110days with only about 6-7hours network downtime

    what plan is this one?

    Hi,

    thats this one:

    PAR1 location:

    https://login.layer7.net/index.php?rp=/store/cloud-server-mid-cpu-par1/cloud-server-mid-cpu-2cores-8gb-80gb-par1

    or

    FRA1 location:

    https://login.layer7.net/index.php?rp=/store/cloud-server-mid-cpu-fra1/cloud-server-mid-cpu-2cores-8gb-80gb-fra1

During black friday event in november 2023 we had a quiet heavy discount down to 11,xx EUR without IPv4.

Can we do this again? 😬 Please

Well the ddos protection is not powerful its just basic protection,
I had faced many downtimes last downtime was 22+hours yesterday had to restart vps,
its a cheap vps comes without strong DDos protection even though I'm using it for game hosting πŸ˜€
6€-24GB ram vps no one can provide it as cheap layer7 Does!

    Hi,

if you have downtimes ( especially many?! ) then you should open a ticket...

As to yesterday: yes, storage issue for around 1h ( too slow, then short reset and config adjustments ), hope its fixed now.

I assume your server went into read only because of that and you just let it be like this for 22h ;) So of this 22h downtime, around 21h goes on you ;)

But as to the other downtimes, you should definitely inform us if you have issues.

As to DDOS: Arbor but if you have DDOS prone services, you are encouraged to choose other providers OR we will make you a dedicated voxility offer.

If things continue like this then in november we will be out of sales as all IP ranges that are allocated for this low budget stuff will be full.

In that case the prices will go up actually.

Worse than Contabo? That's something. What CPU was it?
