It's cool to see how much work goes into this. I do hope more hosts do something like this and give new life to old hardware.

I might do something like that soon, however I will first find some people who would be interested in renting a cheap dedicated server.

@PulsedMedia said: We've found other pathways for power delivery efficiency upgrades too, which as byproduct increases fault tolerance as well. All of that needs extensive testing and design tho, will be couple years out at least. We should be able to squeeze another 5-10% of efficiency out of power delivery, while reducing costs significantly.

    interesting

    How To Get Support?

Lately there's been quite a few .... Confounding tickets, especially around these.

No requests for anything, just short novels about what the person has configured, done, or needs to be done, and then complaining we do not offer support -- even after multiple times asking what the action is they want (Rescue Mode, Hard Reboot or Full Reinstallation)

If you open a support ticket on one of these, please be very clear and concise on the action you need taken.

Just like a self control panel, you don't tell your life story to the hard reboot button. You click it, and vóila le hard reboot happens -- just like magic.
But if you stay there telling your full life story to the hard reboot button, never clicking it -- No hard reboot happens.

Apparently "Self Managed" means "Fully Managed, including mind reading and crystal balls" for some of these persons as well facepalm -- or so it seems, because they keep telling their life stories instead of what they need to get done.

There's been now multiple persons who outright refuse to tell the action they want taken -- Then complaining there's no support and/or demanding refunds. No we don't care you have also a Hetzner server and it has feature XYZ, or you run esxi at OVH. What is it you are asking for the server in question???

The Actions That Can Be Taken: Hard Reboot, Rescue Mode, OS Reinstall

It's quite maddening. I think we need to write a support etiquette / how to get support document á'la our network diagnosis wiki page too; https://wiki.pulsedmedia.com/index.php/Network_Diagnostics

There was one excellent "ancient" (written in the 90s i think) one like that, it was brilliant, shame can't remember the name of the document to find it again :)

Only 1 in stock for now, all the distro installs are more or less untested, but yes you can have Debian 10-12, Ubuntu 20-22, Arch Linux, CentOS, Proxmox etc. easily.

CPU Benchmark is: 1515/6504 (well make it more accurate after more passes)

can I install ubuntu on this one? if there is no remote control, vnc, etc, only power recycle botton, then I can image the difficulty.

They don't have ipmi or any remote control. Actions like reboots go via a ticket

This is all we got for now.
You can see all models at https://pulsedmedia.com/mdPricing.txt (json) even if they are not in stock.

We currently have no models like that on offer. We could make some in future, but we suspect those models would not be very profitable for us.

If you want, we can custom build 2 with annual prepayment, one for you, one for public offer just to see if people have decent interest in such.

    Price would be for i5-8500t/32g/2x4000G - 90€ a month -- 1080€ prepayment

Price for Intel N100/32G/4x4000G would be 170€ a month -- 2040€ prepayment. (completely untested, we just received first sample unit!) -- Note this has only x1 per NVMe, not x4 lanes per NVMe.

Yes, signed up here with a VPN. The owner of the forum even knows. I expressed that and they are aware.

It does not justify how a provider can take payment and not deliver a service though. The provider accepts a privacy focused payment, yet is going to discriminate and run off with ones hard-earned money? >:)

    Still no response. @PulsedMedia hello?

We cannot give server details to 3rd parties.
I recognize the aggressive tone from some tickets, presumably yours with this kind of request.

I cannot give you details for someone else's account or even if it may or may not exist, even if you know their email address i cannot give you anything.

You email from unregistered email address, claiming to need details of another email address. Claiming it was throwaway email you don't have access to.

We have no way of knowing whether any of that is true -- with that basis, if we gave you any information what-so-ever, anyone could just send email and hijack anyones sevice. Anyone, and anyone's, just by knowing their email address.

It does not justify how a provider can take payment and not deliver a service though. The provider accepts a privacy focused payment, yet is going to discriminate and run off with ones hard-earned money? >:)

    Still no response. @PulsedMedia hello?

The amount of tickets, agressiveness, high pressure fraud tracitcs and these messages here also shows you are persona non-grata -- We do not wish to have your "business", even if what you were telling turned out to be true -- which i very much doubt because why so much pressure if the money was of no interest to you, and service has been replaced with many times as expensive, and you've already accounted this is as a loss to you?

Maybe, not like you claim, next time don't use throwaway email address you can only use once -- or fake email address. If what you are saying is true, which i doubt.

We are an actual business, we have no need for what was it that you said, 30$? Scamming someone for 30$ would not make any sense for us. Think about it, if 30$ is so little for you as to be meaningless (apart from the high pressure tactics and attempted PR damage, trying to extort access to someone else's service) -- Why a company which owns multiple datacenters and has been in business for well more than a decade would care about your 30$?

All i can say, if you really did order a server some days ago like you claim, it was delivered and details have been e-mailed (oh the irony, using fake email address) and can also be found on billing portal. If anything you say is true, that is.

E-mail is strong part of security, you don't have access to account's email address? Well, then there is no authorization on a account either. If you'd ever have used any hosting service prior, you'd know you absolutely must have valid and working email.

Anyone else reading those comments: That user has 2 comments (those 2 comments), 7 visits to LET and registered 3 days ago to LET at this very moment. You make your own conclusions.

@angstrom is this the kind of behavior which is good for LET?
