Why not? Paypal has like 180 days iirc, you still should be able to contest it.
Indeed. It's not been 180 days yet, so you should be able to open a dispute and make a claim out of it so PayPal steps in.
Oh you guys are right. Damn. Thanks.
For some odd reason my brain interpreted 180days = 2 months.
I'm stupid, I know
If it was literally $12, two-three months in, I likely wouldn't care.. But it wasn't $12.. Was a lot closer to $100 than to $12.
No option for partial either, even if we wanted to.
Our chargeback was "investigated" and approved really quickly though.. I'm guessing the company name has a blackmark in the CC systems, so approvals just happen now..
October is still within PayPal's 180 days chargeback window. Why can't you get a refund?
They figured out they can..
PayPal sees they are being hammered with hundreds of chargebacks suddenly, so they immediately recognize the company stopped providing the services everyone paid for, without a refund. PayPal is simply finding in favor of all the customers en masse without having to do much investigating.
Ours wasn't through PayPal, just the card's charge-back process.
As for PayPal, the Limewave email server running again? The emails may be bouncing back which will not impress PayPal either.
I'm sure the credit card networks (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) are seeing the same mass number of chargebacks suddenly having been filed in the last two weeks, see the company's website disappeared, and see the usual trademark of a company having disappeared overnight after having accepted prepaid credit card charges for many months of service. So they take out their usual dispute resolution policy playbook and quickly find in favor of all the consumers making the chargebacks against a newly failed company.
That was my thought too.. The CC networks noticed and they got flagged..
I could hardly believe nonsense like this literally exists.
I think I've only ever done one hosting chargeback in my life. As I recall it was HostMyBytes (maybe, could have the name wrong) and it was for $5. The owner said "bye, nyah nyah" and so I figured he deserved it, and it was legit because I didn't get whatever term of service I paid for.
Sadly, all of this could have been avoided by @Dvo with some basic decency, good commo, and proactivity, but instead we got this:
I was never a Limewave customer but I wouldn't feel bad about charging back based on this thread.
Yup.
Borrow one of Kris' lawyers and litigate. He just had to let everyone in here know he's a big businessman with his legal team. What a tool.
The gaslighting isn't working, you just go round and round like your mom on my knob.
I mentioned I hosted two lawyers who would chew some thieving canuck up easily if he committed fraud. I'm so sorry that calling out your boyfriend Dvo caused you such immense pain.
Finally, I think it's amazing that your measure of success is 'not having to advertise on LET'
That's the most pathetic thing I've heard, except for every other time you comment on this site.
chargeback yesterday
deserved.
I tried too. TOO expensive for me.
He's just trying to get a rise out of you. I'm pretty sure he understood the facts of the entire matter, but he's just messing with you at this point
.
I'm really disappointed in this provider, and how they (he) handled this situation. Zero notification, information, they (he) just turned everything off. This is completely incorrect, unacceptable.
I lost only one small VM, paid by month to month. So technically I lost only one month (so I think, I'm lucky because of this). But I not happy when see things like this. I thought it's a small but reliable company, with ARIN membership with own IP space. Usually it's a good signs for me, but looks like it isn't a 'guarantee' anymore...
These things - like this one - make more difficult the 'generic trust' between the providers and users. Sadly this is why I prefer (most of the time, with some exceptions) to pay month by month.
I think we all do stupid things like that
I imagine your brain went: 180 days = half a year, half = 1/2, therefore, 2 months
It never was a guarantee. People fuck up.
The only time I've really been burnt was CloudatCost.. I tried them on advice from someone who I trusted a little too much.. Was good service for exactly 180 days, the exact time for PayPal disputes, then went to shit, and got worse from there..
Chargebacks led to me being called a 'cunt' in the dispute and being sent to 'collections'
Shame of a company, really.

Escalated issue to PayPal to see if they can refund me for the total data loss. Disappointing, I actually had good interaction with their support prior to this. Didn't even bother to communicate.
Sorry, but how many chargebacks did you initiated and how many services you have there?
lmao
Nice strategy to bypass the Golden Rule of LET; be a C instead of a D, and they can never ban you.
Edit.. Was 90 days at that point in time.. Exactly 90 days of decent service.
I guess that answers my question if he was responding to PayPal disputes..
'collections' is a joke, but can be annoying.
If he doesn't have the money or/and balls to actually sue you to get the money, nothing is going to happen.
At least that is how it works in a country with decent laws.
Looks like an empty threat.
It wouldn't be worth suing anyone for a debt under $1,000. It would cost more in legal fees than any recoverable amounts.
And that's assuming it was a legitimate debt.
In a case like this, he wouldn't win even if he did sue (despite the legal fees outweighing the effort) because the chargebacks are totally legitimate and exactly what the laws permitting chargebacks are designed for.
That wasn't gaslighting that you quoted.
Your lawyers work for hosting services? That's a real "Low End Lawyer".
Giant red fucking flags, everywhere. SMH
