Limewave was throwing hands threatening to add on "administrative fee, charge back fee, balance due and interest" and then fire it off to collections on anyone trying a chargeback, and then Kris said that if they do, he knows two lawyers. He never said "legal team", he literally said he knows two lawyers, if I remember correctly they were customers of his.

Yep, two I host. They pay zero, and if I need assistance, I pay zero.

Chargeback was simple and processed online. Only if Dvo tries to screw up credit would I even contact them.

I guess making an alt username in Dec 2023 as you're about to exit scam clients is a better method of trying to make your business work.

Your lawyers work for hosting services? That's a real "Low End Lawyer".

Giant red fucking flags, everywhere. SMH

wdym? the lawyer i got for 0.002$ per hour isn't good?

I would assume that they work for money like everyone else, doing favors is not the same as full time job.
I have plenty of acquaintances that I can call on favors from, just as they do from me. Someone tunes my car, I fix their computers. I host their website for free, I get to use their shop. This does not mean that any of us does not have normal jobs where we earn money.
Seriously, this is not even uncommon. Quid pro quo, you scratch my back etc etc.
In this case, it would take any decent lawyer about 10 minutes to rip Limewave a new one and then get back to "normal" work, so it's not even a big favor.

Yes, enormous red flags. But not where you think they are.

It isn't good, it's perfect. 50% discount on daily billing.

The plan as of right now, nothing official, is that I’ll be bringing a few nodes online for a 24 hour period then cycle with the same pattern until all the nodes have had their last day. What I’m waiting for is OVH to approve the BYOIP

    .

OVH states up for 3 weeks

That's a few days away now. Any updates on if this will be happening in order to allow for pulling data off servers?

Would imagine they'd email users, unless @dvo expects those impacted to see his response on page 15 or 16 of a LowEndTalk thread.

@Dvo Are you tunneling the traffic from OVH or what'cha trying to do?

I can give you a GRE and route your IP's pretty quick for free in whichever location is closest to you.

After recalling the history of events, you're right. I wouldn't expect any notice or any more responses from dvo.

Nearly a 1300 word update without saying a goddamn thing.

You're allowed to close up shop and go out of business, that's fine. Just normally when you do that, the nice thing to do is give some sort of heads up and time for people to migrate services to another provider rather than having to restore from backups on a Monday night.

    I like when he said:

"The problem with exit scams is that fortunately, they don’t exist anymore"

    Followed by:

"I’m not going to be proactive in refunding, simply because of all the drama with the refunds themselve"

    and then:

I’ll tack on a $200 administrative fee, a $50 charge back fee, the balance due and the interest, then fire the account off to collections. Problem solved.

    What a fucking prick. (Respectfully)

"It's not an exit scam. I'm just not going to give you a refund, and if you try to take matters into your own hands, well I'm gonna send you to collections."

Yet you choose to ignore the fact that’s for accounts that push for a refund on the incorrect amount.

It doesn’t surprise me, based on your outlook you’d agree with a provider who was doing business with dedipath and when shit hit the fan there, you’d be ok with the customer charging back the last 6 months of services, which were provided. We don’t live in a world where people commit wire fraud then don’t answer for their actions. All dedipath does it fire the account off to collections plus the administrative fees and interest, if they're lucky, or unlucky find themselves dealing with law enforcement plus collections. Just because you can’t comprehend that isn’t my problem.

If you’re going to judge my character, maybe look in the mirror. Do you want to come clean on lying to ARIN regarding justification for all the 4.10 allocations you have. The problem with 4.10 allocations, you actually don’t own them as per ARIN policy, hence the reason why you need to re-justify every 3 years. So if you’re trying to bend state laws in Washington state to fit your objective, it doesn’t surprise me you’d be lying to ARIN to bullshit allocations out of them. When they reclaim the blocks, what an unfortunate situation.

Respectfully, you need to grow up. Trying to strawman why your users are entitled to refunds after you deadpooled just shows you're unable to accept responsibility.

Also, you may want to read the terms and conditions of the payment providers you use before posting completely inaccurate information.

I didn't keep any real data up there. Just a few wireguard tunnels to a few venues I remotely manage when I'm away on tour. I keep all the data I care about on systems at these venues and a central offsite backup. Losing the tunnels was annoying but not the end of the world.

Yeah pretty much, I only need them because the house staff are incompetent :D Sure i could do something a little more reliable but honestly having it go out forces them to fend for themselves for a bit. Maybe I can squeeze a real budget out of them now and get some static ips from the isps :D

Interesting, their website is back up now.
    https://limewave.net/manage/login.php

My uptime monitor picked up one of my old IPs as online (104.224.52.0/24 subnet)
Edit: looks like that subnet is being used by Kuroit now.

Did you (or anyone) else try to login with a prior account. Unless you really don't care about your prior account credentials I wouldn't try it. There is a noticeable lack of a password reset option to safely see if an account is active there.
