I used Paymenter (https://paymenter.org/). If you don't want to pay for licenses, this will be your best choice.

I don't hope you have strict privacy laws where you run your business because that billing panel is developed and maintained by a 17-year-old one-man one-boy band.

So you're saying that all the other alternatives are fully privacy friendly?

Nope, I am saying that you put your customer's private information in the hands of a kid.

There is nobody other than you to blame if your panel gets hacked and your customer's data gets leaked because you can't hold a kid legally or financially liable no matter how badly he fucks up.

First, age doesn't matter when it comes to quality. We all started somewhere, and people are still too entitled because of their age.

It does. Kids don't have the same experience and knowledge as adults who have taken a relevant education and have relevant working experience.

Although I don't approve of the other developer the kid worked with (Techno1Monkey famous skid & pedo), the kid "Corwin" himself is fine. He is still learning, but for his age, he shows he can do enough. Let's also not forget that it's open-source software, not paid ones that you would expect much more from. It doesn't matter if he was 18+ or not, you can't hold anyone responsible for it. He's not wearing jack shit. The panel itself functions well and is good for what it needs to do given his age.

It's a bad idea when inexperienced people develop billing systems and hosting panels. And others use them in production because the lack of security puts their customers at risk.

Paymenter is a good example of why. Passwords are visible in the panel which is a security risk and it pretty much shows that security isn't a priority or the person behind this project doesn't know better.

This is basically the same as calling Pterodactyl shit because it is made by minors (yes, Pterodactyl is also made by minors).

    Thanks for the warning.

People who use Paymenter usually have non-serious businesses because Paymenter is still in development.

Yes, but do their customers know?

And exactly what billing system have you created that contributes to the community? Exactly, zero.

Oh, so it's only people who have developed a billing system are allowed to have an opinion about this.

It sounds like you are a minor who got offended because I used the word kid. :)

  • @xvps although I get what you are trying say, in the uk you can run your own company at age 16. You can’t claim a decent minimum wage as those very slightly older but that’s a different discussion.

  • We prefer WHMCS for our billing system - mostly satisfied.

This is Blesta, can't blame Blesta themselves, module should be blamed.

I don't see a reason with having the plaintext password there, should be reset once you login to Ptero.

Yes, I somehow mixed up the two.
It's the Pterodactyl module that exposes the password.

  • What do do like about HostBill that makes it better than WHMCS? (Other than cost.)

And how does HostBill compare cost-wide to WHMCS, after taking all cost factors into account?

Hostbill has "all inclusive" approach if you go for the datacenter version, you do not need to buy and integrate 10's of plugins from different providers.
It also can do everything you can think of and has a proper EU billing.

Regarding the pricing, it is quite cheap if you have an existing customer base and need a few modules. The recurring cost of Hostbill is 125$ / Year, unrelated to the number of customers that you have.

The only problem we see with hostbill is the look and feel of the admin UI and the difficulty to get the prebuild templates / orderforms go along aothether. (there is a lack of up to date thems and it is more difficult to integrate than whmcs).
