Fixed your link, @interservermike because it was looping back to this page - they have to be full https links.

$3/month for 1TB in the sky, nice 👍

  • How long does the offer run for? Have you got a yabs for the storage server? Do you thikn it would be suitable as an image server for a relatively busy site (retrieve from s3, resize, cache for display) or is the cpu/hdd too slow for that, is it literally just intended for 'storage'? thx

Can I install OS via ISO on Storage VPS ?

  • interservermikeinterservermike Member, Patron Provider

We do not actively monitor bandwidth usage. As long as its not abused, we won't notice.

We do have the option to mount ISO.

What's the usage policy for the CPU on the storage server? It seems like a good media streaming option with occasional (rarely) transcoding. Would torturing the CPU for a few hours once a week be okay?

Storage servers usually have plenty of CPU available before they are considered full due to disk IO limits. It should not be an issue at all to transcode once in a while.

@interservermike Like can we buy 4 slices and merge them to make 1 vps ?

  • I've been super happy with Interserver since starting with them last year.

My only wish is a peering arrangement with NYIIX.

Why do that if you can simply order a VPS with greater specs?

We are in de-cix ny and equinix ny. I do not think there is much to gain from nyiix for us. Any particular reason you think we should be there?

Am I mistaken or is there no option to pay per annum?

You can add a prepay into your account for any amount. Then autotically deduct from it.

Just a thought : why not offer a per annum payment option instead of deposit? Wud help me sleep better at night knowing I've got the service for a good couple of months instead of being yanked with a random discontinuation msg whenever the admin changes policy.

  • @interservermike glad to know that you're still keeping on the coupon code that you gave me on my birthday thread. :)

Also what's the bandwidth acceptable usage?

We had options but we removed them. If a client wants to upgrade/downgrade/cancel mid cycle. We are forced to do math that is not easy to automate.

We are 24 years yank free.

Ordered 2x storage slices.. hardware wise look totaly OK but link speed from Europe via Zayo (read: Hetzner FIN via Frankfurt) seems.. poor. Not even 200Mbit/s which would make sending daily zfs snapshoots of 100+ GB difficult. Not sure if you could 'switch' transit(s) @interservermike on this or not.. I am not complaining too much, just not sure if it will be usable
