Looking for a unlimited bandwidth VPS
Hi guys, I need a fast internet & unlimited bandwidth VPS for cheap (to run rclone to sync my files frequently)
It doesn't matter if it is OpenVZ or KVM or Xen etc.
This is the bare minimum
1 CPU core (shared)
512 MB RAM
5 GB Disk
1 Gbps & Unlimited
Any region is fine (not Russia pls)
As cheap as possible

Ionos is not unmetered. They yell at you after using couple of TB.
Why would they do that if they say unlimited traffic on their website?
Because others (for example Hetzner, BuyVM) do it too.
If you need proof for IONOS you don't even need to search outside of LET:

Nyr: "Not truly unlimited, service is suspended after a few TBs."
benj0x: "No. I was suspended earlier. "

Neoon: "I talked to a technician, only 1-3TB are okay,"
JoeF: I has an ionos VPS a few months back and had it suspend for using too much bandwidth. It was only around 12-13tb monthly
Ionos are kinda lame for that, but Hetzner and BuyVM don't do that right? Hetzner has well defined caps and I have not had complains from BuyVM for bandwith usage.
We have greatly increased our total capacity in the past couple months.
Francisco
vouch for BuyVM, awesome company
They both do.
Hetzner:
"We’re writing to you today because of your traffic use, which currently
averages above 250 TB/month on some of your servers.
Although these servers include unlimited traffic, this is far above what
we consider fair use."
"We will routinely check your traffic use. If we continue to see such a
high amount, we may choose to cancel your contract."

BuyVM:
"Our rule of thumb is 100mb/sec 24/7 for every 4gb ram. There’s room to burst or use more, but if we find a 1gb user rimming a gig for days on end to google drive or something we do cap users down."

Only The Great Whole is unlimited.
I had similar requirements as yours. I ended up with Hetzner (20TB up) then Netcup (80TB up/down).
There's BuyVM but their unofficial FUP (which I've been told is rarely enforced) is fairly limiting (and fair for the price). It's safer to use a service with well defined limits or risk account suspension.
Red flag: 5GB disk but needs unlimited bandwidth? The OS minimum will be 2-3GB.
You get 5GB with Dropbox (or 50 others) for free, and would be better solution 99% of the time than running his own rclone sync.
Shenanigans.
This is a VPN, no doubt.
ipax.at's smallest server just has 100Mbit uplink, and you have to pay a lot more to get an upgrade (and after upgrading it is limited).
Most likely their VPS sits between the primary storage and a cloud storage, running regular sync jobs.
If data doesn't change, it doesn't use much bandwidth. So what use case changes small files frequently and he doesn't need SSD performance? There's no syncing, just massive VPN share.
My problem isn't that he wants to run a VPN, it's that he's being deceptive about it.
I can‘t confirm that. We are running some Tor relays on ionos‘s VPS and we have never had a problem with ionos complaining about too much traffic. And tor relays need traffic 24/7
For some of my projects I would rather have unlimited bandwidth on a 100Mbps line than 10TB on a 1Gbps line. But 100% agree.
Exactly.
Not a proxy nor VPN at all.
Consider when you need to sync a whole media library and blu-ray discs.
Your response is pointless without knowing and stating the bandwidth you used and didn't get a warning.
On 5GB storage? 2GB used for the OS. GTFO. And again, that data (media library) doesn't change frequently, like a database. Maybe video surveillance videos 24/7, but you'd need more storage and you'd have said so.
I have 2TB VPS and use quite a bit as I use it daily for TV, movies and porn download plus upload (syncing to my PC). I don't need unlimited bandwidth, but you for some reason do with 5GB storage? No, you're full of shit.
I. Use. Rclone. To. Sync. From. OneDrive. To. Google. Drive.
What. Is. The. Point. To. Have. More. Than. 5 gigs. Of. Storage
That's all I need, if you don't trust me then please fuck off. I'm posting for offers, not for criticizes.
How about the dozens of Terabytes on the first month
I remembered that there's a 50% off coupon, but unavailable now.
Waiting for their BF offer
whoosh we all understand that's what you're claiming you're doing, but that doesn't require unlimited bandwidth. The question would be why would that data change so frequently that would require unlimited bandwidth?
Well, it's just one kind of paranoid...
If anyone is providing 2 TB or more, that will be also fine. But for over 2 TB I would rather choose the unlimited one
Thank you, I would have been chill if you said that in OP. 2+TB is way more likely achievable for lowest cost than unlimited and reduces risk for providers who may offer you unlimited knowing you're expecting low TB's and not high TB's.
