  • FWIW, these nonsensical threads should stop.

And to what end please tell me would I be doing that? I really, really would like a reply that makes sense from you.

You tell us "to what end". The quoted part makes complete sense. Not sure what you're confused about... You just had 1.5 pages of people telling you what you were doing looks like spam and you're a mod.

Please let us know if you need further explanation. We want to make sure you really understand this time.

Most native speakers of English are able to correctly interpret "to what end" as meaning "why".

whoosh SMH. There was no reading issue on my part. Someone asking what their own intentions are and being told to tell us instead. Jesus f. Christ.

It's a BS response to defend that he wasn't spamming because ?Motive?. It's irrelevant the motive or end goal. Someone else said it's not spam because Arkas had good intentions. So what? That's not what makes spam, spam. There's weird gymnastics going on to justify these posts.

I don't know why you have this urge to always argue you're right, but in any case, imagine this hypothetical situation:

Timbo's imaginary friend: Hey Timbo, why have you stolen my book?
Timbo: I haven't stolen your book.
Timbo's imaginary friend: I think you've taken my book, because it was here before and now it's not.
Timbo: Why would I steal your book?
Timbo's imaginary friend: You tell me why!
Timbo: I haven't taken your book
Timbo's imaginary friend: No, but you have to tell me why you might have stolen my book.
Timbo: I haven't taken your book
Timbo's imaginary friend: whoosh SMH. I said you stole it! You need to explain why!

If this situation happened, you'd rightly think that Timbo's imaginary friend was a bit of an idiot.

  • I see in the opening post that you get 10TB of outbound every month.

Does that offer still hold? I know these cloud providers charge insane amounts for transferring data out.

Scratch this. It is right there at the bottom of the page.

I'm sure many of our veteran members know about this, and probably some use it. I want to take the chance to (re)-introduce it

Someone out here actually appreciates the info. Thanks!

Tag, category, whatever makes it possible to spot them outwith just "oh it's another Arkas thread" would be great. Something in the title would be ideal so it's easy to spot / filter them out at a glance.

The very first thing on the line below the title tells you who started the thread.

I know. I have actually used forums before.

My point was, I probably don't want to automatically ignore every thread Arkas starts, so some sort of tag / category / title prefix for his Imaginary Newbies Video Notspam would be helpful.

Arkas got what I was saying, but apparently not everyone else did /sigh

You need not worry. I will not be doing that again unless it's in a new, relevant category.

Yeah, I think I misunderstood what you meant. I thought that was your reaction to reading the posts having jumped into it from just the tile alone. Re-reading with your reply makes it obvious what you meant, sorry.

I would like a video explaining how I could get that offer.
Did any romanian manage to get it?
It is ironic that when I use my real data or company data I get rejected more often than when using fake data.
I gave up long ago on it.

Anyone can get that offer. Look at YouTube for the video, I'm not making another one here.
I don't think it matters were you are from, unless you are from a country that is under sanctions.

No, it's well known Oracle doesn't always accept new accounts. Sometimes it's the credit card, sometimes the location and sometimes the company name... no direct reason provided.

Yeah. I have tried both as a company and as a physical person, using company connection as well as mine as required. None went through, so the question remains, did any romanian manage to get the deal?

  • How powerful are the Ampere cores compared with say a Xeon 2680 core?

@rchurch said: How powerful are the Ampere cores compared with say a Xeon 2680 core?

The ARM based CPUs in general are more powerful than a Xeon 2680. The problem is finding native written software for it, otherwise you will have to go for emulation, which will in effect make the ARM CPUs work much harder and appear slower.
