Oracle free tier: Free Ubuntu Cloud PC 24GB RAM 4 vCPUs 200GB Storage !
I'm sure many of our veteran members know about this, and probably some use it. I want to take the chance to (re)-introduce it to our newer members. Yes, there is a way to get a VPS with the above specs for free. Enjoy!

I shouldn't care about it, but I think community will feel the same way.
Even tho I dont post on LET that much I really love LET, I learned so much useful stuff for great people in short time. Drama, trolls, haters, we have them all, but its still lovely community. No WHT or some random Facebook group filled with affiliate shit comes close to that. Its only place on the internet when we can completly shit on provider and only worst thing that can happen is thread moved to offtopic so it wont be indexed to public.
Now lets go back to the point. I completely don't understand your posts. Mainly because you're moderator and I'm just a regular user who shouldn't need to write all of things mentioned below.
We have at least 10 threads about Oracle Cloud, thousands of posts about it.. and that's why we have Oracle Cloud megathread (52 pages) with explanations about everything. I personally wrote a lot of info (network bandwidth changes, VPU increase, many many explanations), someone else posted script for easier deploying, we post info about upcoming changes etc.

There's just no way you didn't saw this thread.
What is THIS new thread supposed to do? You say its "Re-introduction", but its something that we already covered here in detail and you guys covered it too on LowEndBox and LowEndBoxTV. Something wrong in promoting your own channel or just bumping mega thread which has ALL the info?
Is there a reason why instead of promoting own LEB TV video you are instead promoting someone who isn't even using his own voice, but using computer generated voice? You are promoting such unknown people over and over in your threads.
What adds to this whole situation is that... you already posted YouTube video about same topic, but then it was with completely legit guy who doesn't need to hide his own voice and has real knowledge. So you know better videos about same topic exist. Why not post it again? If not, then promote LEB TV channel maybe?
I just don't understand.
Not promoting own channel, but some random guy.
Posting about same thing once again, but now with computer generated voice and plenty of affs in description... is this your own channel Arkas? If not, you are sure you want to promote such channel who has no face and no voice, but pastes commands into description that he can easily change after some time to create massive botnet... crazy idea, but maybe that's why he isn't using own voice? Or maybe not that crazy idea, because it happens over and over on YouTube, maybe its not that prevalent in server-related topics, but with cracks, keygens and generators it happens all the time. Free botnet with 1000+ computers by just creating video without own voice.
I know that you don't have bad intentions, you want to promote something nice you found, but... what about pasting useful info gathered from internet, make topic about that or modify existing megathread to include all of the info and then you have something that adds to LET value and doesn't promote some shady guy? If you want video, you can make video with generated voice yourself and put it on LEB TV. Promote own stuff, something you control, something that users can trust.
You're making it look like you're paid to post these videos and you put lowest effort into it. If thats not the case, you should really know why I get such vibe from these threads, I explained reasons above. And its not hate, someone who hates wouldn't spend so much time trying to help you find better way.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
I post these small threads in the hope of reaching out to the thousands of members that don't post, in the hope that these videos can help them through this tough time with the energy crisis and inflation and what will possibly be a serious price hike. These videos are not meant for you. This is something that I must stress. They are NOT made for members of your distinguished caliber. They are targeting a forgotten membership of LET, and possibly, even future members of LET.
I know you mean well, and please trust me, I mean well as well. Having said that, we have 2 completely different member profiles in our heads when we view these threads.
I am not in any shape or form affiliated with any of the producers, or staff of the creators of these videos. I just found them above average for the LET user I am trying to reach out to.
Suggest to change subject to mention Oracle Cloud, else this is just a clickbait for everyone who already knows about that one.
Don't mention Oracle Cloud.
Instead, add *not clickbait to the title.
Or just "NOT ORACLE"
@jbiloh
these shameless, stubborn, absolutely EFFORTLESS spam threads from one person are not helping your business
how many more feedback threads about a some member of the moderation team do you need to make the inevitable and obvious decision?
btw. just in case: Happy BF/CM, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone...
I already knew it's OracleCloud based on the title.
To think i was banned for doing exactly this.
What a joke
Does seem a bit odd to just drop another video without even mentioning that it's just another "how to use Oracle's free stuff".
You can bang on about how it's "not meant for the likes of you" as much as you like but I'm not sure it comes across as "community building" as much as you seem to imagine ;-)
Thanks for the feedback.
We are trying a variety of things to grow the platform. Some things will stick and some won't.
We are always listening to community member feedback.
I respect your efforts to engage a wider audience, however posting a 2 lines and youtube video thread as a repost of an extensive and informative original thread with a 🎣 title, just comes across as spammy. Also, how many of the targeted users have engaged in these type of threads? All I see are criticising comments. I hope you will respect my temporary fix until let will be great again.

Tough crowd tonight.
Also, again. Videos are appropriate for concepts (visual) and demonstrations (cooking). Text is appropriate for task oriented jobs, like running commands. The LET audience would rather go to github than YouTube.
Thank you all for your feedback.
What I don't understand is the amount of energy some of you have put in posting here, where just seeing it and ignoring it and saying 'I guess the LET team is trying new approaches' would have cost you nothing. I made it clear this thread wasn't targeting our established user base. Just ignore it for now, we are experimenting in new things for a different approach is all.
Thank you for your understanding.
SPAM definition in LET context:
SPAM - unwanted, periodically posted and with no real informational value present, unfiltered (not a first time video ridden with aff links) thread. Often threads continue to spawn even after major backlash from active community members. They are not reaching their target audience, only induce aggression.
Moderation and administration unit ignorance leads to intensified community resistance. Pushing beyond that, will eventually settle in with passiveness, division and community collapse.
These "informational and educational" threads should be posted in LEB, where similar content would attract more appropriate public and stop being real irritant to majority of community on LET.
Administration unit should really read what members here say. Because one day such posts will stop. And you will have no clue where to go and what to do in order to keep traffic and relevant content.
Right.....
LowEndPhilosophy
Well it's not much energy to just say "oh gods, not again" - once again though, you're posting what is nominally a tutorial in News instead of Tutorials. Plus, the clickbait-y "free 24gb vps" title on the front page kind of deliberately lures us all in so acting all butt-hurt that we came to read it is ... odd.
If you're determined to pursue this endless stream of video spam for this silent-but-definitely-not-just-in-your-head cohort of newbies, maybe... tag it clearly as "Newbie Video Stream", and we can all ignore that - rather than the tempting suggestion above that we just ignore any thread you start on the assumption it'll just be another damn YT robot.
But, if your message is "actually we don't want your feedback" then fine, I'll put them all on ignore and not taint your threads in the future. Spam away, my lips are sealed
Calling my threads spam is below the belt. Yes, they are not targeting the usual LET member.
I like your idea of somehow making sure they are targeted at a 'Newbie Video Stream'. In fact, I am going to use that, either as a tag, or why not, maybe create a Newbie Corner? Thank you for your feedback, it was indeed constructive.
Indeed. It's like I stepped on LET's toes by accident.
Clickbait-y topic, contentless posts linking to YT junk of questionable veracity... if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then you're gonna get called a duck-pedlar whether it's below the belt or not
Tag, category, whatever makes it possible to spot them outwith just "oh it's another Arkas thread" would be great. Something in the title would be ideal so it's easy to spot / filter them out at a glance.
@AXYZE Come here you good man. I will pay you 1$ for each word you wrote.
You said exactly what I wanted to say
I saw this thread, I will like wtf.
Annoying video title without "oracle" word. Annoying thread without "oracle" word neither.
I I just thought so what is the point? are we spamming youtube
because there is the one
With a good title that says oracle, an honest thumbnail and it's well made, it covers it up pretty nicely.
Or are we increasing the number of threads in Let? Is he increasing his posts count!?
A reminder to me is: "hey oracle cloud has a free service", you get the info efficiently in 10-20 seconds. What was posted here is not a reminder, it is a thing that forces you to watch, and skip randomly in the video until you see the oracle screen and you just realize, fuck this then close the video.
I was gonna comment but I just thought let this thread sink to the bottom of threads, where it belongs.
Forces you to watch? Seriously...
I don't get the idea that the members that don't post are not knowledgeable and are suffering during this time. Where has that research come from - You say it's for this unknown group of people, but I still never see them engaging in these threads.
Posting video links etc like this should be on a blog or just on the YT channel, not just plastered into a discussion forum (especially when it's been posted before) - this would have been closed if it was posted by someone else.
Well, you're forced to watch it if you want to find out what it's actually about, because for some bizarre reason you carefully avoided saying "it's the free Oracle stuff" in the title, or the post.
See how much time you could have saved by doing that?
I think this thread work as intended.. nice traffic I would say.. so many views so many reply..
OP has been given feedback about the clickbait title multiple times, yet still has not taken such action. We all would prefer if you mention it's Oracle Cloud in the title, or at least an explanation as to why you can't/won't.
Because you really need a feedback. If we don't give any criticisms, you would continue doing this, filling a board with useful info with - let's be honest - clickbaits. This one is the worst I've seen, I must mention. You have been rather clear about your stance against criticisms that are not constructive enough across multiple posts. Yet when you are given a decent one, you are simply replying with "ignore and move on". Would you allow random ads every now and then on this forum if I told you to just ignore them, because you technically can?
I take all feedback seriously, regardless. That doesn't mean I always agree with it. In this case @ahnlak constructive criticism will results in immediate action as it makes sense. Just throwing criticism because you don't like it doesn't really help me. I will change the title however.
Please, respect that I spent my time defining what is wrong with these topics.
I did it to help you shape a better LET future, I like this place and I want you as a moderator to do best job in making this place as good as possible.
I'm not saying DO IT OR DRAMA, I wrote many sentences explaining every aspect of it to help you out.
Dont treat me like an hater with negative energy.
Its absolute positive energy when I give you examples how you can help own business (promote own LEB channel when you already have video about it), how to maintain better cleanliness by maintaining megathread and tring to educate other people about risk with pasting commands from channel that hide even their own voice.
Its all from my heart, wanting to improve LET.
You explained you want more people to join LET, to feel welcome. And I think thats exactly why these videos wont work.
People come here to search for information. It can be "free vps". Someone can find this thread on Google.
Problem is youre redirecting that person to YouTube channel which isnt even yours. All that potential goes to promoting some random guy video.
Instead you could promote LEB video or modify existibg megathread original post to include all of infos and Q&A. People would stay a lot on your site (or your channel), people would come back to megathread to learn more things. If they are returning visitors you won.
Why someone would be returning visitor for embedded video with no text info near it? Person needs to exit LET and redirext to YT in order to get commands from video description.
Nothing work with your motivation, but I think my ideas about execution may be a lot better to get what LET needs and @jbiloh expects.
