Yunohost/Cloudron/Caprover
Managed to get a perfect dedi for my use case with 40TB disks. Now I want to make this my sole server for everything. I might keep a vps or two but I want to make this my main server for everything. I absolutely love cloudron because of how easy it is to deploy, automated backups, updating individual apps etc but $15/month billed yearly is significant amount. I mean even at monthly pricing of $30 its almost 70% of what I am paying for my dedi.
I am looking to host the standard media streaming stack - Plex, jellyfin etc. I would also like to use next cloud / seafile and maybe photo service such as lychee. Also throw vaultwarden and maybe a wiki on there. Now Yunohost doesn’t seem to offer Plex and a couple of other apps that Cloudron does.
What’s the best way to get this setup? Docker containers? I am new to all this so might have to deep dive into tutorials for docker. I usually just throw cloudron on different VPS and use the 2 free apps.

Docker
Feel free to DM me, so I could help ya
Docker has a learning curve, make sure you play with it locally , learn docker-compose and edit your /etc/docker/daemon.json for disk and network..
welcome to the other side.
welcome to .. the other side
best way is docker, it easy to learn and maintain
If you really into GUI, you can try portainer.
Tell me about this perfect dedi, cunt.
If you are more into a daemonless and possibly rootless approach, try podman it works with Portainer as well, if you prefer a GUI.
Who is the provider and what is the cost of dedi?
probably Hetzner
More info on the dedi please.
I am using Caprover for few months . one vm and one dedicated server , my usual use case is for development apps , MongoDB , Redis , Mogno Express etc and few private docker containers and I find it very useful and solid , no issue faced in my use case,
Cunt ain’t talking about his dedi
I use Caprover for many of my setups. My media server is running Swizzin but if you're combining multiple uses Docker is probably the way to go.
This is outraging, open a thread about it.
Not until the vote is complete.
Absolutely love Cloudron to be honest. Had a situation last week where a provider was just messing me about with poor performance. Spun up a VPS with another provider, installed Cloudron, uploaded the config file from the existing Cloudron server, sat back waited and everything was reinstalled from backups and all the DNS updated. Downtime 50 mins, the whole server moved, effort level 0.
If you don't want another job, Cloudron is it. I know it's not cheap, but I still can't believe they take on the workload of managing all of these third party apps for the price that they do. I'd probably charge you $250/m to even think about managing a server as littered with third party apps as my Cloudron box and in my mind it would be a cheap offer. As Lee mentioned, migration is just beautiful.
I am moving more toward Caprover but that's because this stuff is actually my job. Here's a look at how simple a Caprover/Docker job "can" be:
https://github.com/mxroute/mxroute_website/blob/main/captain-definition
https://github.com/mxroute/mxroute_website/blob/main/Dockerfile
But that's just HTML, easy stuff. I had a little more trouble getting this off the ground: https://github.com/mxroute/mxdocs/blob/master/Dockerfile
But the good thing about these is that they build themselves from Github and when I updated a repo I just let it handle going live with the updates.
If I were just using templates I don't think I'd have picked Caprover. It's not as plug and play as it looks, these apps don't all come with sane defaults and sometimes the thing you want to override isn't just a variable in the existing Docker project. Similarly, I've never had a Yunohost install where everything just worked out of the box.
It’s on hetzner auction, asswipe. Still there I believe. 1270 - 40TB hdds
Is it transferable? If so cya after six to nine months.
It is. 😂 doubt I’ll let this go though unless of course the 8TB SSD+512SSD comes back in stock
Piss poor, was hoping for something new and exciting, shitwizard.
What would be new exciting price for a 40tb server for you, dickhead?
$7
It’s not the price that I take issue with, it’s the provider. I was hoping for something I didn’t already know about, jizzflicker.
What’s wrong with hetzner, sweatballs?
Nothing (apart from the porn thing), it’s just not interesting because everyone knows about them, assmaster.
I'm learning a lot in this thread, vocabulary-wise. Keep going, cunts.
@Astro could you please run yabs on your dedi?
Mayte, just go order one, setup it, YABs it, then cancel it. It’s the LET way.
Order one, setup it, YABs it, then idle it. It’s the LET way.
Or transfer it to another LET user for twice the cost, that works too.
