Looking for small instance in NL
Looking for a deal with the following specifics:
- Location: Equinix AM5 (Mandatory requirement)
- Virtualization: KVM (Can be Xen or anything else but not OpenVZ)
- 1C1G is fine, I am happy if it's more than that
- free ingress with 5-10TB egress per month on Gigabit port, I am thrilled if unmetered over 100Mbps port or something more else
- 20GB diskspace or more, SSD preferred but I can do HDD
- Dedicated routable IPv4 /32, preferably with IPv6 but I can do without it
- OS: Preferably ArchLinux and FreeBSD, it would be lovely if I can upload ISO
- Console access is needed with pre-generated password
Or if you got a Raspberry Pi inside the above location, I am also good.
Need that bandwidth and diskspace tho.
Machine usage:
- Periodic cronjob
- Monitoring service
- Polling on some infrastructure for health check
Requirement before order:
- Looking glass is needed to check on connectivity, both traceroute and BGP routing
- Speedtest is good to have, not necessary
Budget: under $20/mo (negotiable, but preferably lowend pricing )
Will order some more if we found out the connectivity is good, and the host is actually happy to collaborate with.
Thanks!

Racknerd have AM5 location for their VPS and fit all your requirements except ipv6.

That's a list I put together of all their products. Aff links, feel free to modify the links if you hate my help lol

Broken pic at the top of your linked page? :wonder:
(The aff link pic)
Probably blocked by Cloudflare Captcha
Do you mind pointing out the offering you saw? Sorry I am having a little hard time finding the fit criteria...
That would be their logo. I really should cache those on my site instead of hot linking.. Oops

Oh hm, I was searching 1GB offers
Their network also seem fit for me, but on colocrossing... Hmm...
Haha yeah 2GB is much better than 1GB
Honestly I don't have a problem with colocrossing. Some people on this forum are against them because of some personal issues/other business arrangements I believe, but I've never had downtime or slow network.
We're in the Netherlands and can take care of you: https://incognet.io/kvm-vps & looking glass: https://lg-nl.incognet.io/
Can't go $20/YR low on a 1GB/1C box but will for $30. $20/yr is what we charge for our 128MB boxes before a discount.
Comes with clean IPv4, a /64 IPv6, 10TB BW @1Gbps. Bring your own ISO or use one of our own, we have some ISOs already available like HardenedBSD, which may be of interest to you. Otherwise feel free to bring your own and boot'em on up.
PM me if you're interested.
EDIT: I can't read. We're in Worldstream, not Equinix AM5.
OMG lemme rectify, I was gonna say $20/mo.
Per MONTH? Good sir, your budget is too HIGH! haha
Thank god. In that case, you can pay at full price.
JK. $30/yr is discounted from our regular price of $50/yr for that plan. It's been a slow Sunday and towards the end of my night so I'm feeling generous.
With this being LET, you'd be surprised by some of the requests that come in. I just assumed the worse and figured you meant $20/yr, ha.
$20/m isnt low end sir!
$20/month?
Following this thread now, it could get interesting. AM5 is specific, not colocrossing, with a relatively high budget, could find something with a really nice CPU or something
By no means I am excluding colocrossing, I just need a good routing for the health check and other things.
The price isn't go for quality build or high-end machines, but rather the location, as THAT SPECIFIC location really costs us to look for. That's why I could even use a RPi instead of some fancy KVMs.
(Seriously if I need compute-sensitive or to burst the CPU or load, I won't even use these spec)
We would go for all providers if there are decent (and cheap) yearly packages, but by far we need to be sure the routing is good.
Mythic Beasts/ VMHaus I think has their ams location in AM5.
Side note, we are currently on DigitalOcean as they have direct peer with our favouring destination, but their pricing isn't really our type... And we have bad experience with DigitalOcean in the past, but for now we have to live with it.
(Yes we want it lower, but turns out the location ITSELF is expensive...)
I can't find both their AMS looking glass tho...
@HostHatch has services in Equinix AM5.
Why AM5 specifically?
Digital has facility in Science Park that is really cool and very modern, perhaps that would work?
according to racknerd's page, they do seem to be located in equinix AM5 based off the address given.
of course their network blend is probably different
https://racknerd.com/amsterdam-datacenter
Cuz one of our critical external service is located there, and our latency requirement is like, needa be <= 1.5ms
From what I saw at their looking glass, they are by far the best I can see...
Latency avg 0.5, best 0.5, worst 0.7
Tho I am not sure if they accept inquiry about a
show bgp
result dump for me...Maybe try Scaleway Development instances but it is in their own DC, maybe latency is good.
You pay hourly so you can rent it for few hours and do your tests and if you don't like it delete it.
https://www.scaleway.com/en/virtual-instances/development/
I can do that, but doing traceroute or mtr only gives a glimpse on how the routing could be, not possibilities.
With a BGP looking glass, I can see more details like prefixes the host have, paths they could help with policy based routing, or other various solutions...
@vmhaus is at AM5:

Can't find their AMS looking glass tho
@Basil ^^
doesn't hurt to ask @dustinc or you can ask support
Argh, RackNerd just replied my ticket and they're sold out in AMS...
i would email [email protected]
sometimes he will make something happen for you
LOL missed your reply, will definitely try that
Thanks!
