Is it really that much cheaper to use HS as backup of backups rather than just using certain cloud storage providers where storage is $0.005/GB/month and you don't have any drama to worry about? I'm also thinking about the value of your time dealing with VPS outages, VPS monitoring, managing backup retention policies and such.

Of course none of these options are cheaper per GB than your own local HDDs (assuming you bought pre-CHIA, have sufficient headroom on your disks for your needs, and are talking about long-term storage and not just 1 year). I guess in the US a lot of consumer ISP connections have bandwidth caps (Cox cable is 1.25 TB/month unless you pay for more)....so maybe it isn't just about disk space.

Not only got an invoice for the unavailable service but also another one with late fee just one minute later - WTF is that? :/
Also I am not even able to access the respective server in the service panel to cancel it since 3 weeks - page always runs into a timeout - nice move @cociu :o

Not at all. but people who are in abusive relationships, scraping the bottom of the barrel will find any excuse to say something along the lines of "but you don't understand, he's not usually like this".... There will be someone around here who will try to justify the missing logic SOMEHOW... And then PMS over people drawing conclusions over something that this provider has left ENTIRELY up to interpretation with a lack of response.

Either way. I am invested lol.

I don't understand how anyone can be using HS for torrent seeding or backup given the abysmal upload speed HS has. I tried backing up my HS VPS once and it was going at a rate of maybe 2GiB/hour...

Well, at least his server(s) at Terrahost is still online, as of now.

Yea, he issued invoice for dead service and took credit to pay it. What a pig.

Servers will last for as long as he has paid. @terrahost could tell us which month the date of expiration is? Than Norway servers also will go offline. Ship is sinking, time to skidadle.

I don't think he'll disclose such information, for obvious reasons.

He/they won't. First of all, it's not for you to know and second that could be misleading AF. Because something is paid for 3 months it does not mean it won't turn into Chia storage or cociu wouldn't chargeback TerraHost and nuke that shit ASAP.

And terrahost has nothing to do with this. They are not offering anything to the end consumer. I wouldn't drag them into this at all.

FFS, do you not understand automation? I understand you hate the guy but damn ....

This might be the only ACTIVE thread on LET where the OP has been banned instantly (or on the same day) for creating this post which now (after 18 days) is reaching to the mark of 55K views, and 1.5K comments and has resulted the HostSolutions brand been tarnished and spoiled due to the owner's lack of communication, weird reasoning of involucrated disk/server, absence of posting any (further) update, etc. and instead emailing customers with promo offers and further creating an mayhem PLUS pop-corn time for rest of LET users! I suspect this thread will be getting views/replies until all servers are back online!

  • At this point, I'm so confused about what exactly involucrated the drives and so far I'm sure it was a pangolin infecting the chia virus on the servers and spreading to the drives.

More than anything I'd really like to know what completely and utterly involucrated @cociu's communication to the point that his last update is almost a week overdue..

They will sing songs about this thread, long after provider tag got involucrated.

Of course I don't understand automation and abillity to turn it off.

Instead of lecturing me, you better go and vote for Trump along with timbo at the other side of flat earth.

I'm not lecturing you because that would be pointless. I'm making fun of you and your ascribing intention to an automated system like it's out to get you.

Probably so. He created multiple LET accounts after he was initially banned.

@default said: He created multiple LET accounts after he was initially banned.

jbiloh gave him a chance to choose one account and stay in the community. He refused and took a bullet.

  • DPDP Administrator, The Domain Guy

SDB was banned just because he spammed, not because of having multiple accounts :)

  • Have we figured out wtf involucrated means yet?

OVH and Hetzner aren't really in this side of the industry.

OVH never posts an offer themselves and even Hetzner only comes around for dedi's once in a while. Does Katie (sorry if I spelt that wrong) still come by? The others?

The point was about power, in particular the power to drag the whole industry down. @cociu doesn't have that power, simple as that.

@jsg said: People lose their livelihoods due to cociu's products, promos, etc? If that were true (I strongly doubt it) they'd bloody deserve it because acting careless, ignorant, and stupid tends to have consequences.

This is what I'm getting at though. The staff only now acted on it and at least 1 said he'll get it back the second he asks for it. There's no punishment for him acting this way and treating the very community members this way.

What's that to do with what I said?

The site operators don't even make an ounce of an effort to protect its users. Time and fucking time again it doesn't. Ever. It's always they were "unaware it was happening", even though literally all of the servers being used for said scam was bought from the site owner.

One user, that the admins propped up, unbanned multiple times, and kept allowing him to sell on here, is now in a federal Pound Me In The Ass prison because of, wait for it, identity fraud. The same person had an open directory on their billing site full of pictures of credit cards, pass ports, etc. Not one single person was alerted of their ID now being stolen (because the directory was open for ANYONE to see if they simply viewed the site) for half a day.

But you, @Francisco are here anyway - which could be construed as "LET is a good and safe place".

Francisco, from what I know you are a good provider and you have earned my respect by standing up for free speech. And that is the path you should continue IMO - instead of demanding LET to become a more tightly controlled place.

Anyway the real punishment of @cociu is to be handed out by us the potential (and actual) customers, not by the LET team who btw did not look away but actually did react by revoking cociu's provider tag.

Look like @jsg the only one who receives his salary on time so he can spread the propaganda to defend @cociu at any cost
