yes, it does resolve, and yeah port 80 and 22 are open, etc, I can also trace to it, so basically I think it's alive, maybe awaiting to be installed or something, anyway, good news so far after the long wait, but I won't be sure until I receive the 'You are one of the lucky few' e-mail.

Actually, it's being burn-in tested. You usually get the results of the test once it's completed without errors. Takes around 8 hours or so.

Hey, I emailed them a week ago about it they said later that week or early next week, I would imagine you will get it tomorrow and if not then it might be worth asking them but be patient i'm sure they will deliver to you as soon as they can :)

Yeah, Oles has said that between Thursday-Sunday all SP @ RBG will be caught up.
But I still emailed OVH support about this.

well, as I can see it my order is progressing also, now the server has a hostname ks335xxx.kimsufi.com and it resolves to an IP address 37.187.xx.xx, before it had no name and nothing, so basically I think it got accepted, I paid with Paypal on 25 Juillet 2013 21:11:09

Weird, I still dont have the hostname in the order and I paid on 25.7 on 20:3x.

I have asked them again what's up with the order.

  • @Spiffy said:
What exactly is the difference between OVH's kernel, and a stock kernel?

    They applied grsec patches:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grsecurity

I don't know if it contains other modifications.

My order from the 25.7 still hasn't gone anywhere, whilst my order from 26.7 appears to nearly be there. Nothing's being progressed in order it seems.

I don't know if it's the grsec stuff or other mods, but the OVH kernel doesn't play nice with OpenVPN.

  • @pechspilz Oh, okay. Thanks.

Add libvirt (KVM) and snmpd to the list! I hate their kernel. And it doesn't get auto-updated. I don't see any point in using it.

  • udkudk Member

looks like im getting the server I ordered yesterday very soon, had an IP assigned :))

still waiting on 25th order though, OVH make so much sense

  • xsetxset Member

    @udk Weird, strange, awful, brilliant!

  • xsetxset Member

I ordered FS24T to play with that's 20 TB storage in RAID-5... that's pretty cheap
storage server with 1 Gbps.. :)

Same here. I'm not confident enough to try and replace the kernel on my running server, but I'll definitely have a crack at it on these new ones before I get them setup and running.

Uhm did you see my post above? They let you select an image with the default kernel.

Ninja-edit: Might have been in a different thread.

@nekki changing kernel is pretty easy.. get the latest source and make menuconfig && make install :)

And it doesn't get auto-updated. I don't see any point in using it.

updating it literally takes less than 2 minutes.Grab the latest kernels from here ftp://ftp.ovh.net/made-in-ovh/bzImage/

    cd /boot
    wget ftp://ftp.ovh.net/made-in-ovh/bzImage/3.8.13-4/bzImage-3.8.13-xxxx-grs-ipv6-64
    wget ftp://ftp.ovh.net/made-in-ovh/bzImage/3.8.13-4/System.map-3.8.13-xxxx-grs-ipv6-64
    update-grub
    reboot

How did the ones with a provisioned 2g get theirs?

  • Still haven't got a host name assigned and thus no KS2G

Why somebody needs autoupdate? It is security risk.

Sure, select your dedi, --> "services", --> "reinstall/change os", --> "Linux basic distribution" and you'll get a choice of operating systems. There you can select "Use the native kernel of the distribution (advanced users)"

So it is impossible to change your kernel after you installed your server? (Didn't saw that option because it was in french)

    No, it is possible.

  • So it's almost been 2 weeks, no Server(I am in the US) and no refund. No reply from support after telling them transaction ids and invoice numbers. Should I just file a dispute?

  • xsetxset Member

    @rivacom Yes, do it.

Sounds like servers are just starting to be delivered, so I'd suggest waiting for a couple days, unless you're desperate for a refund.

  • Well this is funny.... I ordered a server from OVH on the 26th. I ordered a server from oneprovider on the 3rd just incase I didn't get an OVH one. Guess which one came first? Stupid OVH

  • xsetxset Member

@sc754 what did you order from oneprovider? I still dont know HOW Oneprovider can resell those servers.

Looks like I got a ks2g. I paid 6 euro with no install, got a n2800 so I'm going to keep it and see what OVH gives me. If OVH doesn't give me a dual core atom then I'll keep the oneprovider one.

Even if I'm a US Customer?

    Order link to Oneprovider?

Just looked, they are only doing the ks4g now and it's 15 euro from them. I guess they stopped when OVH stopped.
