There's a menu in the managerv3 where you can select the default kernel instead of OVH's grsec kernel. You don't have to replace the kernel yourself, which is indeed a bit tricky sometimes. Unless they specifically disabled this option on the 2G. I know it's available for the 4G and 16G.

Can you tell me where I can find it? I an't find it :/

Sure, select your dedi, --> "services", --> "reinstall/change os", --> "Linux basic distribution" and you'll get a choice of operating systems. There you can select "Use the native kernel of the distribution (advanced users)"

Alright, so I probably have to wait a couple of weeks?

  • Yup still waiting on the mSP. Might have to order another one with a CC if they don't get their act together soon.

  • i got all my order cancelled on 2G and 16G. Then i tried to re order the new 16G one houre ago. Got it now !!

So they are in stock. But sadly with one drive so no RAID

  • They dont have restrictions on M-SPs for non EU, do they? Is it open to Asia?

lol :( they probably will wait on old orders to be cancelled

  • Well, after sending them my scan of an ID and a CC. They've verified my order and now I can see it in my manager panel. But I still haven't received my server.

    where's that @Kupol? on Managerv3 ?

  • i5-2300 2.8 on my 16G

  • @netomx Yes, it's managerv3 under Orders in progress.

  • And it is in RBX not GRA.

The Kimsufi server limits per person have also changed:
    ks2g: 3
    ks4g: 50
    ks16g: 100

So we can have 100 x ks16g's but only for personal use and can't resell them?

    Thanked by 1rds100

@Kupol I have nothing there, and the invoice is NOT cancelled... does it means it will get cancelled?

Maybe because this offer is for EU only. You live in Mexico.

  • netomxnetomx Moderator, Veteran

@tux that restriction was not there when I ordered. :(

Well, I've placed one order on the 27th of July using Paypal and I had nothing there as well. They've canceled the order. So I guess it's been canceled.

Hey, I emailed them a week ago about it they said later that week or early next week, I would imagine you will get it tomorrow and if not then it might be worth asking them but be patient i'm sure they will deliver to you as soon as they can :)

Nice - my 2nd order (paid by paypal) now seems to be progressing - I have a domain name attached to the order - surely can't be long now!

well, as I can see it my order is progressing also, now the server has a hostname ks335xxx.kimsufi.com and it resolves to an IP address 37.187.xx.xx, before it had no name and nothing, so basically I think it got accepted, I paid with Paypal on 25 Juillet 2013 21:11:09

If you check, I'll bet the domain resolves (if you chose an OS with a webserver running on port 80 by default).

yes, it does resolve, and yeah port 80 and 22 are open, etc, I can also trace to it, so basically I think it's alive, maybe awaiting to be installed or something, anyway, good news so far after the long wait, but I won't be sure until I receive the 'You are one of the lucky few' e-mail.

Did you order it for one year spekk, and did you order a ks2g?

  • I ordered a ks2g for 3 months

I guess they are doing orders at random, seems that way :S

  • I ordered over ovh.de

  • What exactly is the difference between OVH's kernel, and a stock kernel?
